Summary; Megumi and Nana break free and attempt to run, and aided by Sol, they may even have found freedom.. of course, no one counted on things to ever run smoothly..
Log;
She must stop crying so easily; Nana has not stopped crying since the strange people locked her up in the dark place. Everyone has told her that she cries too much, and maybe they are right, but it's just so scary being kidnapped like this. Nana almost jumps a little when the door to the room is opened, shielding her eyes from the sudden light. "Get out all of you!" The man who opened the door bellowed with a hoarse voice and Nana quickly joined the line of people who are shuffling to get out of the dark room.
Mikagami said that he is outside looking for her, so she hopes that he will find her. Megumi-san also said that she is locked up too, maybe she is one of the people shuffling to get out too. But what if neither of them can find her? Letting out a sob, Nana finds that she is crying yet again. She doesn't care about what people say now, she just wants to go home.
"Gyah, unhand me!" the englishwoman's voice seemed to be a little more pronounced in her fear, though fearful was probably an understatement as to what she was feeling. Panic, embarrassment, shock? One moment she was home, the next she found herself in a more cruelly manhandled position than she could imagine. Of all the times in the world.. she was so content, Zappa, Axl, Sol.. all were around her and now..
Slapping the hand of the man holding her away, she looked around the masses of people, trying to find a familiar face. Her maternal instincts serving to make her a lot more concerned for others than herself, she immediately began to follow the people until..
There, right there.. oh goodness, there were children here too?! Megumi's heart skipped a pained beat, but before she could react to that, she saw a familiar form that only a day ago had been chirpy and friendly..
And was now tear-ridden..
"Nana-chan!" she called, immediately moving through the people to reach her.
Snapping out of her thoughts, Nana quickly raises her head to find where the voice who called her is from. She is sure she heard someone call her name then. Turning to her right, her lips quickly blooms into a smile as she shuffles through the sea of people to reach the kind woman she met yesterday. "Megumi-san~" Nana practically pounces on the woman like a puppy welcoming its master home.
"I'm so glad you're here! I was so scared!!" Nana is definitely not letting go of her hug anytime soon.
Regardless of the situation they were in, the dark-haired woman felt a hint of comfort in knowing she had someone there with her. Her arms coming around the younger woman's back, Megumi tried to make sure her balance wasn't lost amidst the moving people and the weight on her body.
Bringing a hand up to touch her hair, Megumi embraced the girl in return, standing taller than her by a few inches enough to be able to protect her form with her own.. and there was something that she could sense in the other that made her curious and worried at the same time. Was Nana..
Now was not the time to think of it, and she quickly pulled back, looking at the girl's face. "I think we all are, Nana-chan." she brought a hand up to wipe under the girl's eyes and give her a smile despite herself. "Fear makes them stronger. Come, let's see if we can find a way out.."
Nana is beaming at Megumi as the woman wipes the tears from under her eyes. Megumi is so kind! Smiling widely at Megumi, she nods enthusiastically, "we just have to slip through the bunch of people, then we're safe!" In a way, Nana knows that there must be more to it than that, but having a companion with her makes it seem so much easier for them to escape. Megumi did say that she can do magic.
While she is still unsure of whether the woman meant magic tricks or real magic, Nana is sure that with Megumi around, everything is possible. The woman seems so refined and beautiful, just like the other Nana. Everything will turn out alright as long as she is with Megumi.
Megumi could indeed do magic of a certain degree, though being a white magician that only worked with supporting magic and healing than with offensive and stronger summoning, she knew there wasn't much she could do to keep these people at bay. First, she made sure that Nana was alright to walk, then gave her surroundings a look around. As long as she knew how wherever she was looked, she could transport herself there, with a friend. However, she didn't know where the place she was in was, and that disturbed her. Quickly turning and taking Nana's hand in her own, she looked at the girl worriedly.
"Nana-chan, it's not that easy. This place.." raising another hand that seemed to glow in white motes around it, and touching it to her forehead, Megumi attempted a small spell to scan her surroundings, but saw nothing but..
"..Underground.." she whispered, her face paling as she lowered her hand, turning her blue gaze to the girl. "We're.. we're not above ground.."
Nana looks at Megumi's glowing hand with amazement. Could that be real magic? The only magical things she ever encountered were magic tricks at the circus or Angel-san. Angel-san was scary though, unlike Megumi's magic that is so pretty-looking. Her expression quickly changes into that of worry as Megumi's face pales. Everything would have been alright if Megumi keeps on being confident and smiling.
They are underground, so that means Mikagami won't ever find her. Sakurazuka-san and Baby cannot find her either. Biting her lower lip in worry, she tightens her grip around Megumi's hand as she looks around for another way to escape. "Do you think we should follow everyone first? Maybe they're leading us outside!" She suggests. Of course, there is also the possibility that they are heading even lower underground, but that thought never really occurred to Nana.
Megumi quickly brought on a look of confidence on her face, not wanting to let the other girl lose hope. She knew that the moment she'd falter, there would be a lot of pain to endure mentally and that was one thing the others, whoever these people were, had no right to take from them. If they were united in thought, they could think better on escape.
Keeping her hold strong on Nana's hand, Megumi drew the girl close, looking ahead and pulling her along with as people moved. ".. there don't seem to be many guards around here.." she whispered, taking a good look around them and putting this location to memory. At least if they got lost, she could teleport them back here.
Glancing up ahead, she quickly tugged the girl along with, looking back at her. "You're not claustrophobic, I hope?"
Like a good human-pet that she is, Nana waits patiently for Megumi as she looks around their surroundings carefully. Megumi knows exactly what to do to get them out of this place, all Nana has to do is follow and try not to get in the way. Nana follows Megumi as the other woman starts walking. She smiles at Megumi as she shakes her head, "Nope! I'm not scared of anything as long as Megumi-san is here!" While it might sound as if she is simply exaggerating the amount of relief she feels, Nana really is not scared of anything as long as she has a companion.
"I'm sure we'll be out soon!" She tells Megumi. Nana knows she can hardly do anything to really help them, but she can at least encourage Megumi and be a good companion. Smiling to herself, Nana even feels like humming despite the dreary situation. Hearing a strange noise from her left, Nana turns around to find out what it is. She stops in her tracks as her eyes fall upon the creature, "Me-megumi-san... what is that?"
Glad to see that the girl was at least attempting to maintain some sort of high spirits, Megumi couldn't help but smile. She liked seeing that optimism for once and making sure those very men that had been chasing them and kidnapping them were not here, she began to lead Nana out, surprised to find herself in an endless array of tunnels. She'd been here before, hadn't she? To visit V and Evey, the tunnels were similar but, oh goodness of all goodness, there were so many monsters on the way.
Pausing as Nana made her little announcement, Megumi turned.. and the blood drained from her face as she pulled the girl behind her. ".. Stay back, Nana-chan.." she mumbled to herself. The creature was something she knew she'd seen on a nightmarish day in the city and they were no match for it alone.. or without guns. Swallowing, Megumi took two steps back as the armless creature began to struggle it's way towards them, and she glanced back at Nana.
"When I tell you to.. run. As fast as you can, don't think of me, or anyone. Take the tunnel out. Just run." she advised her, her voice soft. She could probably hold this thing off.. but.
Her eyes widen as the creature's form becomes clearer to her; the thing limping towards them is just like those from horror movies that her sister liked so much. Nana was very scared of seeing it on screen, but having it limping towards her in real life is definitely horrible. She can feel the tears coming back to her eyes, but she makes no move to rub it off because she fears that the creature might come to her faster if she makes a move. Nana is very glad when Megumi steps in front of her, but she knows that she shouldn't let the woman protect her. Megumi is so beautiful and kind, Nana should protect Megumi instead.
"N-no!" She pushes Megumi out of the way, "Megumi-san must run, if I run by myself, I'd get caught anyway!" Nana is not saying that to make Megumi go, she knows that it is true. "There might be chance that Megumi-san can run to safety!"
Appalled at the girl's words, Megumi quickly shook her head. "Nana-chan, no!" she was a mere human against these strange suffering undead-- there was no chance she could..
Before Megumi could anticipate it, the armless creature began to groan and writhe, and from a hollow incision in it's chest, a black acid began to spurt like a fountain--- and Megumi's eyes widened. "Nana-chan, get back!"
Instantly Megumi's hands shot out before them and with a brilliant white light, a shield, looking very much like thin, glowing glass, appeared before the two, and the black tar like gunk hit it's surface immediately. Megumi winced, feeling the evil substance penetrate past her more purer magic, and then, with a deep breath, she let out a hiss and blasted the light-like shield back into the creature, sending it falling back into the messy ground beneath. But it wasn't dead-- no, it would take more than that and she grabbed Nana by the wrist.
"RUN." she wouldn't take any arguments, and she was with her. There were too many people here, but they'd found a way out, she wasn't going to let an innocent human girl suffer this way. And with that, she began to pull Nana along, so she could at least get her out of here-- only to find that around her, the tunnels were further darkening, and.. the sounds that the monsters were making were growing stronger. Were they heading deeper into their lairs instead? Megumi looked around herself in panic, holding Nana close and letting her light shield form some sort of light barrier... which proved to be a mistake. Because the moment she did that, the monsters around them began to move even faster, and began to advance towards them..
".. There's too many--!" she gasped, wondering.. "They're.. they're attracted to the light.."
Nana follows Megumi wordlessly as the woman tries to get the both of them to safety. She feels so guilty that Megumi had to rescue her, the woman seemed to be in pain when the black substance hit her white shield. Tears flood her eyes, but she tries not to let out a sob as she does not want to annoy Megumi. She is always such a bother because she can't do anything. The other Nana would have been able to help Megumi with her expertise with martial arts, but this Nana cannot do anything but run for her life and cry in fear.
Megumi hissed under her breath as she realised the hopelessness of their situation. Perhaps, if they backtracked, they--
"Over here, they're trying to escape!!" a man's voice called. Megumi could have rolled her eyes. Out of the frying pan, into the fire, she was going to say-- when, she glanced about them, shutting off the light shield and turning an encouraging look to Nana despite being terrified herself. "You're not going back there. I want you to escape. Alright? And when you do, I want you to stay hidden, and safe. No matter what. You're not meant for this suffering." she told her, hugging the girl tight, trying to keep her voice strong. She had to be strong..
Suddenly, she heard a roar behind her, and she realised if they didn't run, the monsters would-- and on the other end, those men, they--
Nana lets herself sob when Megumi turns and tells her to run away. She is scared, and she wants more than ever to just run away, but she knows that Megumi is wrong. The woman probably thinks that Nana is innocent and unfailingly nice, but she is actually not. Nana lied to so many people and she is not as kind as people seem to think. Choking on her tears, she furiously tries to brush them away with one hand while awkwardly hugging Megumi back with the other.
Hearing the roar coming from behind Megumi, Nana realizes she must stop dwelling on her thoughts and do something about the situation. Letting out a last sob, she steps back from the embrace and takes Megumi's hand. "No, I won't run away alone!" She drags the other woman along to the direction of the men who called out for them. "We'll escape together, you'll see," if they run fast enough, they can slip to the left where there is a way. The monsters look as if they want to rip the two of them apart, but the men seem to only want them to get back to the line. If they get caught, it would be better if it were the men who caught them, not the horrible monsters.
Surprised at the way the other girl was willing to move back to their captors, Megumi immediately turned her hand in Nana's hold and forced her to stop. She wasn't going to let Nana be captured again, not on her life-- if she could push back the monsters, then..
Then she realised what the other wanted to do and she tugged the girl back with a hint of strength. If they went back against the men, they would probably not be able to escape-- these men, however crude in their methods, were still stronger than them, and they were still women with hardly anything to fight back with. Her eyes narrowed and she looked back to the monsters, trying to find a way that they could..
"Nana.." she caught a strange flicker in the distance, and then her eyes widened. "NANA, get down!!"
"GRAND VIPER!!!"
Megumi's thoughts would certainly be broken by that roaring cry, and it was good she turned at that moment, pushing Nana back and shielding her with her body as a torrent of flames burst forth and hit the monsters around them, sending them exploding into ashes... and as the blaze died down, the casual, cocky stride and as the blaze died down, the casual, cocky stride she had grown to connect with her friend Sol now showed itself, the square-bladed sword Fuenken slung over his shoulder. The men behind them all gasped in shock, raising what looked like batons and stun guns, and Sol grinned when he saw this.
"Cavalry's arrived." he hissed, a mad desire to kill shining in his eyes, before he raced forward and swung the sword at the men with a yell of "GUNFLAME!", a bursting line of flames tearing up from the earth and towards them, throwing them back. Standing a good, powerful height, the man shadowed both girls and turned on them with a cocky grin.
"Hasn't anyone told you girls it's bad t'be out after dark?"
Thinking that Megumi is tugging her hands because she disagrees with Nana not escaping, she keeps on walking and pulling the woman along with her. She does not want to always be the weak person who needs protection all the time. Nana can help protect others too, she wants to prove it to everyone that she is not useless. Megumi's cry for her to get down startles her out of her thoughts however, and just as she turned around to see why Megumi had yelled, she is pushed back to the ground. Staring at the flames exploding from behind Megumi, she finds herself wide-eyed and unable to move.
The flames, the strange man who came to their rescue and his attacks are all beyond her wildest imagination. What has she gotten herself into? Stunned at the scene unfolding before her, she blinks slowly once and twice before looking up at the man who is grinning proudly at them. "T-thank you..." she mutters, still unsure of what she should make of everything.
"Mr. Sol!" Megumi's eyes lit up in fascination and gratitude, holding Nana protectively still. Sol was her boyfriend Axl's best friend and to think he was here now.. Wait. That meant.. "Wait, where's Axl??" she asked, eyes wide.
"He's comin'-- " Sol began to tell her, then smirked. "Guess I win this round." with that, he cast a glance over at the girl that had thanked him, raising an eyebrow, then smirked down at her. "Tch, don't look so stunned, babe. I don't bite hard." he was about to continue, when the sounds of footsteps heading their way alerted him and he looked at Megumi. "You good to run?" he asked her. She was his responsibility until Axl showed up, if the idiot hadn't gotten killed by monsters already. Which he wouldn't, of course. But it was still funny to imagine it.
Megumi nodded quickly. "Yes. " looking at Nana, Megumi held her hand tight. "We're getting out of here." she smiled encouragingly at her, then turned, just as Sol glanced over his shoulder and Megumi nodded to him. "Let's go!" with that, she began to pull Nana alongwith so they could run for it-- when gunshots shooting through the tunnels stunned her and Megumi's eyes widened. "Oh no--" quickly, summoning another spell, Megumi turned to Nana, looking at her sternly. "Move. Don't stop, the shield will protect you. Now come on!!!" she yelled, and Sol nodded, knowing this would be a bad time to fight.
He turned to Nana with a grin, extending his hand. "All aboard the Badguy express, babe." he told her. He knew Megumi would set up shields to deflect the bullets and it looked like this kid was powerless.. of all the luck.
Still wide-eyed about everything, Nana is still unsure of how to respond to everything. The man's words snap her out of her thoughts, but she does not know how to reply to him either... before his words actually sink in, "Bite?" Before she could wait for the man's response however, Megumi's tightened grip turns Nana's attention to the woman. Smiling brilliantly at the realization that they will really get away, Nana nods and quickly gets back to her feet. If nothing else, Nana at least knows how to smile, and run, of course.
While she thinks that maybe she should not leave Megumi behind, she knows that all her disobeying had gotten them in trouble, so this time she obeys. Casting a worried glance at Megumi, she tries to run as fast as she can. The man who is running with her seems very nice however, and she is sure that he won't leave Megumi behind if the woman might get hurt. Giving the man a smile, she nods and takes his hand.
Grinning, Sol pulled the girl up against him, his footsteps heavy against the stone floor matted with putrid liquids and the stench of death all around them, but no matter how foul-mouthed and crude he was, he was never one to leave innocents behind. Megumi was coming up after them, even as the gunshots rang out, but he kept Nana close. This was the worst place for human girls to be right now..
"Up ahead--!" he yelled, turning to Megumi, who caught up with them and directed her down. Suddenly, the roar of more monsters distracted him, and he chuckled. "Small fry. This is bullshit." it was, too. He hadn't run into a single monster that wasn't taken down within seconds-- when all of a sudden, a certain gunshot sounded that hit the poles above them, and the ceiling rumbled. He was two floors beneath ground already, that could cause a cave in!
" SHIT." he hissed, pulling Nana against him again, turning--
"Don't worry, I'm right behind you! If the roof caves--" Megumi called encouragingly, and when Sol nodded, she looked at Nana and smiled, taking her hand. "Come on!" they raced on ahead.. just a while more to go, they could be free, Nana could be safe, she could be with Axl and this would be a nightmare!
Suddenly, as they ran, she found something catch her foot and before she knew what was happening, she found herself falling, her hand slipping out of Nana's hold, and Sol was moving too fast, still holding the girl for her to hold on. Turning, Megumi gasped as she realised a gray child monster with a deformed face and burning, twisted body clawing over her and she screamed.
"OH GOD, HELP ME!!"
Sol paused in his run, eyes narrowing as he turned. "Megumi!" he yelled, pushing Nana back and ready to rush to his companion's aid--when a gunshot flew out and caught him straight in the shoulder. It didn't hurt, even though he was injured, but the more shots that rang out, he realised what they were trying to do--- bring down the rocky ceilings to block the passageway -- and Megumi would be trapped!
The men grinned, shooting at the monster now over Megumi's form, and grabbed her by the hair, dragging her back. "RUN!!NANA, SOL, RUN" she screamed, her final words to them-- as the rocks came thundering down, blocking the narrow passage-- and her freedom along with.
Nana lets the man pull her close while trying to run as fast as she can to keep up with him. She must not slow him down, she does not want to be a bother. Nana gives Megumi a brief smile as the woman takes her hand again. She is very glad that Megumi caught up with them, now the three of them can escape safely. While racing alongside the two of them, however, she suddenly notices Megumi's hand slipping out of hers. Turning around abruptly, she stares in horror at the deformed child that caught Megumi's leg, "Megumi-san!" She shrieks, stopping in her tracks.
Before she could run over to Megumi, however, the man pushes her back as several gunshots are heard. Wide-eyed, Nana can only stare in horror as several bullets nest themselves in the man's shoulder. Bringing her hands to her mouth, she swallows back her sobs as the men drags Megumi away and the rocks come crumbling down. "M-megumi-san..." blinking several times, she finally comes to the realization that Megumi might be killed by those men.
Distraught, she runs towards the pile of stones that now blocks the passageway, trying to claw her way through and save Megumi while sobbing uncontrollably. Nana knows she cannot possibly get through the passageway by pushing the rocks away, and that even if she does get through, there is nothing she can do to rescue Megumi, but she still has to try. Megumi has protected her, Nana must do the same for her. She must rescue Megumi.
Shit..
Realisation struck Sol like the bullets that had embedded themselves into his right arm, and he hissed, sheathing his sword, then when he saw the other girl's pathetic attempt at trying to get through, he growled under his breath and moved forth to grab her arms, and pull her back.
"Now's not the time fer that, kid!" he growled, pulling her back to her feet. " We're not gonna get anythin' done if ya stay here. Still gotta get topside!" he was frantic himself, but attempting to not show it.. Axl would be shattered, and Megumi just..
Tch... women. Why were they so much trouble?
Choking and sobbing, Nana lets the man pull her back to her feet while furiously trying to brush the tears away from her face. She needs to rescue Megumi, but she knows that she can't. And yet, Sol might be able to. Grabbing Sol's vest, she looks up at him with pleading eyes, "Help Megumi-san..." She brushes the tears away from her face with one hand while still holding tight to Sol's red vest. "I can escape myself, you have to help Megumi-san!"
Nana is unsure of which way she needs to go to get back above ground, but she will think on that later. For now, someone must rescue Megumi, and Nana knows she would just be trouble, so Sol must do it. She is sure that Sol can do it. "Please..."
This was the part he hated, a tearful woman. Attempting to ignore the burning injury and knowing they weren't out of the woods yet, Sol moved his free hand to her shoulders, nodding. "Y'don't think I'm gonna leave her behind, do ya?" a cocksure grin appearing on his lips, Sol then tried speaking in a calmer tone. "Look, kid. You aint gonna be able to get out by yourself. This place is crawlin' with monsters." he took a look at the tunnel ahead, then back at her.
"I'm gonna be back for her. You can count on me. But don't waste what she just gave ya." he turned, pulling away from her and taking a few steps ahead, attempting to keep some semblance of stability for this. Axl was going to kill him.
"Yer name's Nana?" he asked her then. "I'm takin' ya home. And I aint resting until I have Megumi back as well. Dig?" he held his hand out to her. It was a fool's promise, but he'd keep it, even if he had to burn this city down for it.
"Come on." he told her in a quieter no-nonsense voice. There would be no more time to waste.
Nana gives Sol a smile in gratitude for his words. She knows that Sol will come back and try to save Megumi, so Nana must run fast so she can get above ground and Sol can come back to save Megumi. Running to catch up with him, she nods at his question, "Thank you, Sol-san!" She takes his hand again without hesitation. He did say something about them being the bad guys, but Nana thinks that he is not a bad guy at all. No bad guy would ever rescue anyone, right?
She runs ahead, trying to drag Sol along. "We have to go up to the surface as soon as possible so you can come back to save Megumi-san!" She tells him with a smile. The quicker they get to the surface, the sooner Megumi will be rescued. They have to be very quick, however, or Megumi-san might get hurt or even killed. Those men did seem very evil, Nana wonders why anyone would kidnap people like that..
