Summary; Hina has a favor to ask Shika
Log; She stood in front of the door, a brown paper bag held tightly in her clenched hands. Biting her lip slightly, Hinata raised one small hand to knock softly on the door before stepping back and waiting.
Hands shifted as a head rose slightly off of them, black ponytail swiveling as the figure lounging in the chair glanced towards the slab of wood that marked entrance to the domain he shared with his team-mates. With a sigh, Shikamaru unfolded his lanky frame from it's rather comfortable position in the recliner and stood up, heading over to pull open the door. "Hinata."
She flinched slightly, not out of fear, but simply because she wasn't quite used to his sometimes-abrupt manner. It was similar to Neji's but that was something entirely different. Not to mention, she hoped that the tall shadow-user would be amenable to her request.
He sighed inwardly at her flinch, having not meant to startle her. "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. I just woke up." He stepped aside with a slight smile, opening the door wider in invitation. "Come on in. It's cold outside."
With a nod of thanks, she followed the taller shinobi into the apartment. Sitting down on the cough he gestured towards, she set the package in her lap, folding arms across it. As he took up his prior position in the recliner, she waited for the chance to ask him her question.
"What did you need, Hinata?" He got straight to the point. It wasn't that he didn't have the time to talk to her, or anything like that. But he knew the Hyuuga girl well enough to know that she sometimes had trouble expressing what she wanted. And he could tell from the way she acted that she wanted to ask something of him.
She relaxed slightly at his simple and direct manner, nodding. Glancing up at him, she smiled. "I hope Chouji-kun is doing alright."
Shika nodded, leaning back in the chair. "Yeah, he's loads better. Thanks to you and Shizune. I really owe you one for taking care of him. So just ask. I know you've got some favor you want me to do for you, right?" Some part of his mind spoke up in the back of his head that this was NOT a good idea. Whatever she wanted, it would be troublesome. Besides, she was a woman. And therefore, she herself was troublesome and that was not something he should forget. But nonetheless, she HAD helped to save Chouji's life. So he owed her, in a big way.
Don't be paranoid. It's Hinata. How troublesome could it be if it's Hinata who's asking?
With a smile and a nod, she handed the brown package to him. "Can...can you...take my place tonight? I really..wanted to go trick-or-treating and...someone has to hand out the candy...so..I thought that...maybe you could.."
Hand out candy...well, THAT didn't sound that bad. Besides, it wasn't as though he had to dance around or wear some stupid costume. He scratched his head. "Yeah, I suppose i could do that. I mean, if only to repay you for taking care of Chouji."
Her small face broke into a wide smile and she nodded. "Thank you, Shikamaru-kun!" With a nod, she stood up and headed to the door, pulling it open. Heading out, she paused and stuck her head back in. "Oh, I'll leave the candy in a bowl by the door for you. We got you a costume, it's in the bag. Thank you so much!" With that, she pulled the door shut.
He paused, expression changing slighty. Costume? He glanced down at the paper bag in his lap. This wasn't full of candy? This was swiftly starting to sound like a BAD idea. With a sigh, he rummaged around in the bag, pulling out a pile of black fabric. Sorting through it, he picked up a black mask. Searching further, he found the bag the costume had come in. With a groan, he dropped the items back in the bag.
I knew it...I should never have trusted a woman...
"Mendokuse...."
