Log;
Sakura stood near the window of the apartment, staring outside. She realized she'd been standing there for quite some time, and looked down at her hands.
A bowl.
Oh. Right. She had been on her way to the kitchen. She walked into the kitchen and set the bowl in the sink, turning on the faucet and running water in the bowl. The bowl overflowed with water for half a minute before she caught on, and finally turned the faucet off. The brunette stood there, in front of the sink, staring at the bowl full of water, eyes unfocused on the task at hand.

Now he had just been sitting at the table with his mostly finished bowl of soup, which was cold by now, resting his cheek against his hand and simply watching her. He thought she had gotten up to take her bowl back to the sink, but then she'd stopped at the window for a good long while. His initial urge had been to ask her what she was looking at, but he held back and decided to observe.
When she disappeared into the kitchen, he finally stood with his own bowl and glass, quietly trailing after her to watch as she stood in the kitchen, simply staring at nothing.
Finally, with a sigh, he walked up beside her and set his own bowl in the sink. "Okay, that's it. This has really been bothering me. I've left it alone because Elena suggested sometimes that's the best thing to do with girls, but... I think this has gone on long enough. What's wrong, Sakura? Have I done something to upset you?"

She didn't really mean to spend so much time lost in thought, it just sort of happened. She would be in the middle of something, and then Albedo's voice would echo again in her mind and she was lost again, confused again, hurt again, and then she would look back up and time had passed.
You hurt him more than anyone.
Sakura looked up, hoping that not too much time had passed. Rubedo had asked her a question, he was worried... that he had done something to upset her?
"It's...nothing, Rubedo. I...don't want to worry you..." Sakura trailed her fingers in the water in the bowl.
It was nothing because it was so far from nothing she had no idea where to start.
It was nothing because of Albedo's other words, the harsh ones.
And if you tell him that I told you any of this, you'll regret it.
"I...can't..."

Reaching up, Rubedo scratched at the back of his head with a sigh. It was OBVIOUS something was bugging her. Sakura might have had some skills, but hiding the truth was not one of them. He probably should have been happy about that really, but... How was he supposed to get her to admit it?
He shook his head and reached out to rest his hand on her shoulder. "Hey. You saying you don't want to worry me only worries me even more. C'mon, Sakura... Why is it a secret? You can tell me anything, you know."

It took almost all of her willpower to get the one word out. She wanted so much to just sit and cry and tell him everything that Albedo had said, and hear Rubedo say it wasn't true...but she couldn't, because the words were still echoing in her mind.
you'll regret it
Rubedo's hand on her shoulder was weakening her resolve, and her face clouded. The girl turned her face away from Rubedo's, trying to hide herself behind her hair. Mustering the last of her resolve, she turned back, eyes full of tears that she had not let fall.
"I can't! He said I couldn't!"

"He said I couldn't!"
There was no doubt in his mind which 'he' Sakura was talking about. She didn't exactly get out much, and there was no way Ziggy would have ever upset Sakura like this.
WHEN had Albedo even had a chance...to...
Oh.
He had come in and knocked Rubedo out that one curse day. What had happened after? Albedo hadn't been there when he woke up, but...Sakura had been acting strange.
Gritting his teeth, Rubedo did his best not to sound as infuriated as he really was. He didn't want to scare her even more.
"...What did he say to you?"

And suddenly it was too much for the girl. The one thing that specifically had been forbidden, the one threat, hanging over her, and all of the words ringing in her ears-
You hurt him by existing
Stay away from him
You hurt him more than anyone
He's out of his mind because of you.
I've heard him say it.
if you tell him I told you any of this, you'll regret it
You don't exist
You're a lost soul, little mirage
And her knees gave way and Sakura collapsed to the floor. She put her hands down on the floor and tried to steady her breathing away from the choking gulps she was getting. Her brown hair covered her face, and she stared at the wet spots left on the floor by the water from her fingers.
“He…said that…I…I shouldn’t…I shouldn’t be here…that I hurt you…by being here…”
Pleadingly, she looked up at Rubedo. “He…said…if I told you…he’d…I’d regret it…that’s why…that’s why I haven’t said anything…I thought I could figure out what to do…”

The fury. There it was again.
He was unable to suppress a light growl, but then shook it off and quickly dropped down in front of Sakura, gathering up her hands in his. "Sakura! There's nothing TO do. Not for you, anyway. You've been fine doing things the way you are... Except I think you should maybe make more friends, because here at least you're allowed to interact with others. But... You don't hurt me. I'm really glad I'm able to be with you again, Sakura."
Rubedo squeezed her hands. "Don't... Don't ever listen to him. This was that day he knocked me out, right? I won't let him in ever again. In fact, I..."
I'm going to kill him!
No, he didn't finish that sentence. Knowing how much Sakura hated it when he got violent, especially with his own brother probably, it would be best not to tell her. But there was no way he was letting this one go. And here Albedo had insisted that he would do no harm to her, when he'd obviously nearly destroyed her emotionally.
"...I...just... Don't ever listen to him again."

He could destroy himself
He's holding on to old ghosts
Because of you
You're dead
Sakura's shoulders slumped and she let her hair cover her face so Rubedo couldn't see her expression. What little will she had to resist the urge to cry and breathe properly was fading. It was barely a relief to get the words out, since you'll regret it, you'll regret it, you'll regret it hammered itself through her head.
"He...he said...that I'm the reason you're staying...that...that I'm holding you back..."

Wasn't it? That was the hard part. Hunching his shoulders a bit, the U.R.T.V. bit down on his lower lip for a moment, then shook his head vigorously and lifted her hands, standing and trying to guide her up with him.
"It's not like I can just walk out! I'm stuck here like everyone else! And plus, if this place is really linked to the destruction of all worlds, you really think I can just walk away from that? I can't leave until I can make sure that doesn't happen. Maybe it will stop what's going on back home."
Gently releasing her hands, he turned around, eyeing the bedroom. His pistols were still in his closet... "I've told you before that Albedo has gotten much worse since you knew him before. He's not someone you should be listening to. I... I'm going to go...talk to him."
no subject
"Rubedo..." Her hands dropped limply to her sides as he let go of them.
She looked through her hair at him. The weight of Albedo's words in her mind had lessened slightly. Rubedo's hesitation had given more weight to the words, but he'd seemed so resolved when saying it wasn't true...she wanted to believe him...
You'll regret it
"...I...wasn't supposed to tell you...He'll be angry with me..."
no subject
Shaking his head, he walked towards their bedroom, moving past the bedrooms and opening up his closet. "Sakura, I'm going out. Right now though, you shouldn't be alone. Will you be okay if I drop you off with MOMO and the old man for a few hours?"
Snap,, and the holsters clicked to the back of his belt. He was resolved. Right now, his anger was more powerful than his concern.

She couldn't take it. She ran across the room and flung her arms around him. "Be careful!"
"I..." Sakura buried her face in his shoulder. "I'll be fine here...I'd rather... be here when you get back..."
no subject
Well... Happy he had someone to come home to. But, still...
"Okay, but I'm still going to ask one of them to come over and keep you company while I'm out."
For a moment, he offered a small smile and wrapped his arms around her in a tight hug. But he didn't let it last for too long... After a couple minutes, he gently pushed her back, winked at her, then headed out of the room and towards the door. "I shouldn't be too long."
Grabbing his coat off the hanger, Rubedo swept it around to easily slip his arms through the sleeves, then stepped out, a glitter in his eyes as the door clicked shut.
Bastard... I'll make you pay.
