Anko sighed, staring down at the drink in front of her. It was strong, and the ice was starting to melt. Well, of course it was strong. Afterall, she had asked the bartender for the strongest stuff they had. But the rotgut that he'd given her to start with just hadn't cut it and so she'd been forced to "explain" to the man exactly what constituted "good" liquor. That being said, the now-educated bartender was being very astute in his care of the rather cranky snake-ninja who sat in front of him and shot him occasional glares when her drink wavered a tad too near the "empty" mark.

Shizune was not a normal visitor of anything that could remotely be considered a bar. After dealing with Tsunade-sama for years, she had sworn off alcohol. But since her time in the City, she'd broken that vow once, and now it seemed tonight would make it twice. Anko had seemed depressed, and Shizune was in the exact same position. Drinking... didn't sound to adverse right now. With a small sigh, she slipped into the stool seat beside Anko, folding her hands on the table. "Anko." She said it greeting, looking the other woman over. She hadn't seen her in a while.

She glanced up as Shizune sat down, nodding to the other woman. With a slight nod and a glare at the bartender, she sent the poor man stumbling over himself to fill a glass and set it shakily down in front of Anko. Grasping the rim, she sent it sliding sideways towards Shizune. "Here. You look like you could use it."

"... Maybe I could." She ran her fingers around the glass rim, staring into the alcohol. Last time she had- no, couldn't think like that. This stuff was supposed to help her forget, wasn't it? Taking a tentative sip, she made a face at thes taste, but didn't push the drink aside. "What's got you down?" She asked, staring sullenly at the ice cubes floating lazily on the top of the drink.

Anko flinched slightly. It wasn't that she didn't trust Shizune. She did. Even though they had never been very close before coming to the city, she had become quite fond of the medic in the time they'd spent together. But...she wasn't sure she wanted to be reminded of what had happened. She sighed, tossing back her drink and slamming a fist down on the counter. Within seconds, there was another drink in front of her, though it sloshed a bit due to the shaking of the bartender's hand as he kept wide eyes trained on her in case she should do something more drastic. She sighed, folding her hands and resting her chin on them. "I....I went back. Back to Konoha..."

"You did?!" Shizune paused, glass half way to her lips. Which made the other kunoichi's mood that much clearer. She'd gone home... gone back to Konoha, only to be forcd to return to this damnable place. "... I'm sorry, Anko..." Was all she could think to say.

Anko nodded. "Yeah....I did...." She paused and drained the glass again before snagging the next one. "But that wasn't the worst part. Yeah, I'm back here now. But that's not such a big deal. It's....other things that are more upsetting."

"Other things...?" Shizune finished off the first glass, motioning to the bartender for another, albeit in a much less menacing way. Nursing the drink, she couldn't help sigh again. "... Please tell me Konoha still stands."

Anko nodded. "Yes, it still stands. And things seem to be going well for them. Though, your time is farther ahead then mine, so I don't know what the future holds for it. No, these were...personal things." Stretching, she tossed back another drink before ordering a plate of dango. Sticking one in her mouth, she sighed and scratched her head. "I guess there's no real point in hiding it or anything. I mean, I know enough about your personal life, it's a fair trade. So, I'm sure you are familiar with our head of Interrogation, right?"

"Morino Ibiki?" Another downed glass, another refill. "Big guy, leather coat, scars?" She knew him. And had an idea where this was going. Which somehow... seemed fitting and not too surprising.

Anko nodded. "Yeah, that's the one." She figured Shizune probably knew. Or at least, had an idea. It wasn't as though Ibiki spent much time at ALL with anyone else. And it wasn't as though 8 out of 10 people who worked in the ANBU division, not to mention half of everyone that didn't, didn't have at least some suspicions about it. With a sigh, she downed yet another drink, setting the empty glass next to the 6 others. Despite the fact that the stuff was strong, she still didn't really feel more then a slight buzz. "I'm sure you've heard all the rumors, right?"

"The one about the rope bondage in your office or the one about using Tsunade-sama's desk?" Shizune couldn't help but bark out a short laugh. It was sort of funny, but at the same time... a tad scary. She took a drink. "I take it that means you two are involved."

She snickered slightly and nodded. "The rope one's true, but it was Kotetsu's desk, not Tsunade's." She picked up the half-full glass and drained it the rest of the way before setting it carefully on top of the others. "I think most everyone knows, even though neither of us have ever actually admitted or confirmed it. And....that's part of the problem."

"In limbo, then." She shook her head a bit at the confirmation. Way too much information. Another drink. Idly, she began lining the empty glasses, waving the bartender away when he tried to remove them. "Did anything happen when you went back?"

Anko nodded. "Yeah, for the most part. And it was OK. I mean, it's Morino Ibiki. The man has had more enemies then Naruto has had bowls of ramen. So of course he can't settle down or have a family or anything like that. And I'm fine with that. Hell, I'm not exactly the "settling-down" sort of girl anyway. It was never an issue with us. It didn't matter whether we were 'together', or 'lovers', or whatever. We just are. There was never any need for anything else." She drained yet another two glasses and began stacking the empties into a pyramid.

"Sex." The medic pointed out. God, but she was feeling deprived herself. She'd become so used to it that going without at this point was... frustrating. "So you miss him?" Shizune stirred her drink, counting the empty glasses lined up in a row.

"Well, yeah I miss the sex. Getting the chance to go home and have the neighbors knock on your door because they think you're murdering someone b/c of the screaming isn't exactly something you just shrug off. But yeah...." Her face changed, a slightly softer look suffusing her expression. "Yeah, I do miss him." She stacked her 12th glass up and took a sip of the next one. "But...it's not just the sex that I miss, and that's weird. Not used to that."

Her face had taken on a slightly taken aback look, she wasn't used to such candid sexual conversation, but then again, this was Anko. She's get used to it. "... love." She finally murmured, flicking one of glasses over the bar and watching it shatter on the floor, frowning. ... Not a happy drunk was she becoming.

The purple-haired kunoichi scoffed slightly, taking another swig of her drink. "I don't believe in love. But the weird thing is, he was acting all strange and shit."

"I'm hardly its biggest fan at this point." Shizune muttered harshly. "Weird and shit... Kabuto did that." She pushed another glass off the table. "When he first kissed me when it wasn't a curse day I laughed in his face cause I thought he was making fun of me, the bastard."

"No shit? Wouldn't have thought the little prick had it in him. But yeah, Ibi-chan was being all weird and shit. Normally, he won't even LOOK at me in public. I mean, god forbid that people actually think we TALK, especially when most all of them know that we're fucking. And it's not like I WANT the bastard to be all lovey-dovey and crap. But we were just working on stuff. I mean, like normal stuff that we always work on. For the next exams. And he just, out of the blue, starts talking about "our relationship". And, since WHEN did we have a "relationship", you know?"

"Men." Shizune was beginning to take on an angry countenance, her motions becoming more jerky and sharp. ... It didn't help she had a very low alcohol tolerance. "Kabuto wouldn't even talk about the relationship, only when we were in bed, never out of it. ... But when he did I liked it. And stupid me, I believed him." Normally she would never talk about this, but her tongue was loosened by drink. "We even talked about kids. KIDS, Anko!"

She snickered. "Yeah, Ibi-chan and I never talk about kids. Besides, can you imagine what our kid would be like? The fucking world would come to an end before this damned place ever went up." She waggled a finger at Shizune. "I'm telling you, men are good for sex and getting things off of high places. Not much else for the most part."

"Kabuto was the same height as me, so he wasn't even good for high places." Another glass tumbled over the counter. Her speech was becoming slightly slurred and her eyes were having trouble focusing. "But he was good at sex. Damn, but he was." She frowned. "Now he forgot me, stupid bastard. Stupid Orochimaru."

"Yeah, Orochimaru is a stupid bastard." She grinned at Shizune, her cheeks bright red. After about 16, she was starting to feel it. Frowning, she glared at the bartender and lurched to her feet, hand reaching out and two snakes shooting out of her sleeve to wrap around his neck. "Hey. I said I wanted STRONG stuff. Did you not HEAR me?"

"This isn't strong?" Shizune asked in shock, counting the drinking in front of her. One... Two... Three... Four... Five... Four... Maybe she'd had too many.

Anko shook her head as the man shakily fumbled with a ring of keys at his belt. It took him three tries, but he finally managed to unlock a cupboard under the bar. With trembling hands, he tried to ignore the vipers wrapped around his neck and handed a dusty bottle to her. With a grin, she pulled the snakes back and leaned back in her chair. Pulling the cork out of the bottle, she took a long swig. Pulling the bottle away from her lips, she coughed for a moment, blinking. "Now THAT'S what I'm talking about. Here, you try some of this." Selecting an empty glass, she poured Shizune a glass of the amber-coloured liquid.

"... Okay." Bad choice. She brought the glass to her lips and brazenly took a large swallow, immediately lurching forward and trying not to spit it out. It took her a few tries to swallow. "S- strong." She managed to get out, thumping her chest a few times to clear it.

"Yeah, strong. Strong is good, especially when you dun wanna remember somethin." She swished the liquid around in her glass, staring down into it with a slightly sad expression. "But...even though it was strange, it was...nice, in a way."

"... Least he didn't fucking forget you." She choked back her gag reflex, that stuff really was nasty and she didn't like it at all, but she hardly cared anymore. "Stupid Kabuto, stupid Orochimaru, stupid injury." She downed the glass, still making a rather disgusted face.

Anko nodded, tossing back another long swig of the strong stuff in the bottle. "Yeah, but 'snot like I could ever marry the fucker or anything. I dun wanna die."

"He ask you to marry him?" Shizune snorted, looking into her empty glass as if confused as to why it was empty in the first place. "... Why am I even drinking?"

"Course not. You think that arrogant prick'd ever get hitched? Nah.... but he DID talk about actually ACTIN like a couple." She plunked another glass in front of Shizune. "Yer drinkin because there's liquor."

"But I'm pregnant, why am I drinking?" Shizune stuttered, putting her glass down. "It's not good for-" She put her face in her hands when the view started spinning. How many had she had? Why the hell was she here? And why did she have to have such a low alcohol tolerance?

Anko turned around, facing her with a slightly wavering gaze. "Yer what?"

"Yeah, whoo~" Shizune waved her index finger in a circle, still burrowing her face in one hand. "And he forgot me. Great timing." Sighing, she pushed the rest of the glasses one by one off the counter. "Stupid beach." She added, a reference to... the particular moment.

Anko grinned slightly. "Beaches are nice. But yeah, you shouldn't be drinkin if yer pregnant. 'snot good for the baby." She took a deep swig of the bottle, expression suddenly pained. "I's pregnant once."

"Huh?" The medic's words were slow and deliberate, as she had to think very hard before she spoke. "... What? Who?" She paused. "... Huh?"

Anko nodded, putting the bottle to her lips and taking a long swallow. She was definitely going to have to be drunk to talk about this. "Yeah....I's pregnant once. Long time ago. I's 17."

"Romp in the..." She struggled for the word. "... hay?" Shaking her head. "Don't you use birth control?" Not that she could talk. But she could at least say she thought her injury would have prevented this.

Anko nodded. "'fcourse I do. I was a dumb kid, and it wasn't like I'd planned on sleeping with Genma or anything. I didn't have any with me. But of course, fate's a bitch, like that Hyuuga kid always says."

"What... happened?" Shizune finally got out, fingers rubbing hard at one temple.

She downed another long drink. "It was one of my first missions as a Jounin. It wasn't anything but "sympathy sex". We almost got our asses killed. Everyone knows it happens on missions all the time. Vulnerability, mixed with relief, and adrenaline. That's why they make you put birth control in your equipment, you know. Except I'd lost my pouch, and he'd already used his. But we didn't realize it until later. I didn't care at the time. And I thought that it wouldn't happen to me. So when I started getting sick a month or so later, I just thought I had the flu. And I went on mission anyway..."

She shifted in her seat and pulled down the edge of her skirt to reveal a jagged scar across the lower part of her back. Turning, she showed another one, this one on the front of her stomach. The second one was obviously surgical in nature, as it lacked the ragged edges of the first. "Fuuma shuriken. By the time they got to me, it was too late to save anything."

"Mmm'sorry." Shizune mumbled, looking through cracks in her fingers with hooded eyes. "Horrible." She added, staggering up and steadying herself on the counter. "IthinkI'mdrunk." She rushed out, stumbling over the words as they came from her mouth.

Anko nodded. "Yeah, I think you are too. Wish I was..."

“M'tolerance isn't good." She tried to defend herself, stumbling clumsily towards the door. "Now where'd you say this..." She almost tripped over her own feet, but righted herself. "... new place was?"

Anko slid off of her seat, somewhat unsteady on her feet. "'sthis way. I'll show you..." Linking an arm through Shizune's, she pulled the other woman with her and headed off towards their new apartment.
