Log;
The thrill of the battle kept Kurogane's posture sure and his hand on the pummel of his sword. He had spent a good few hours this morning just meditating and cleaning the metal, polishing the hand-guard, rewrapping the grip, sharpening the edge. It wasn't that he expected this duel to be that much harder than any other - that would be self-defeatist. No, he merely had respect for his opponent and a certain excitement that came with a challenge.

He turned into the breeze and it blew back the small bangs out of his face. His cloak bellowed out behind him as he stood on the roof of a building like an extra-large gargoyle.

Unlike Kurogane, Grimmjow had hardly prepared for the match. He'd loitered about the square watching the humans run around until the designated time, then sped to the source of what little reiatsu Kurogane possessed. He spotted the swordsman atop a building and fell to the roof with ease, landing lightly on his feet.

"Yo," the arrancar greeted with a sneer, slouched, hands in pockets. "You ready, human?"

Grimmjow could taste the adrenaline in the air. His sneer turned quickly into a maniacal grin, but even as Kurogane drew his sword, the arrancar kept his hands in his pockets. This time he would let his opponent strike first, just to throw him off guard. Just to show him exactly who would win.

"Listen, human, you better prepare yourself," Grimmjow hollered cockily, "'cause even if I hold back you won't be able to touch me."

The insane grin never left the arrancar's face, even as the sword came straight at him. Then, suddenly, Grimmjow's hand shot out and grabbed the katana's blunt side, stopping the attack dead. Using that one hand, he shoved Kurogane away, enforcing the action with his reiatsu to push the man a good fifteen feet away.

"Try again," Grimmjow sneered.
