He woke with a start, nearly falling out of the bed in the process. A tangle of sheets and a rather undignified yelp quickly followed, but he managed to right himself before hitting the tilting deck below. Instead, the hedgehog sat up, shaking his head, one hand running through cobalt quills before stroking across his eyes. He had dreamt of fire again. It wasn't unusual, but ever since coming to this place, it was just that much more vivid. He could still feel the tingle in his arms and legs, as if power surged through his limbs.
Shaking himself once more, jade eyes lifted to glance around the Captain's cabin. It made him a little nervous, dreaming so powerfully of the element aboard his ship. It was one thing near shore, but out on the sea, where a blazing vessel could leave the crew lost and stranded. He shuddered just thinking of it. He gave himself another shake before hopping off the bed, stepping into the high boots ever-present nearby. The sash was plucked up next, tied around his waist, cutlass tucked into the belt that went with it. His mouth curled into a self-satisfied smirk as he snatched up his feathered tricorn, setting the garment firmly upon his head before turning on heel and heading from his quarters.
A glance to the sky proved it was still early, but the sun was powerful today, glittering across the green-blue ocean and setting it aflame with twinkling diamonds. The grin returned and he did a full three-hundred and sixty degree turn to check the positions of his crew before, skipping the stairs, he jumped from the main deck up to the steering wheel, one gloved hand falling onto the stained timber as though it had never left.
