Log;

It’d been six months in two days since his arrival here in the city, and he’d thought a lot since he’d last had a talk with his ship. Merry had always been a good listener, so the young captain could always find comfort on his daily trips to his favorite seat.

It was cold that night and even though Nami wasn’t there to scold him, he’d managed to find her worn out yellow jacket from Drum Island hidden in the girl’s room. If his jacket was somewhere, he wouldn’t have known; he was too lazy to find it, but at least he was warmer now. And even warmer between the two horns upon the figurehead. With little effort, Luffy hopped into place in the center and greeted her with a lawn. The meeting was in session, but--as usual--business came later.

With a giddy grin upon his lips, he couldn’t help but gleam upwards as puffs of warm air followed the movement of his head. He laughed knowing it would be the perfect time to imitate Sanji, but when he glanced back he realized there was no one to share it with–Robin and Sanji were both inside, probably busy.

“Na, Merry–Look!”

It wasn’t even a few second later when Luffy parted his bangs off in a semi-decent imitation of his cook with a imagined cigarette between his fingers. Laughing again, he found that he could only carry it for a few seconds before stretching out upon the figurehead, gaze skyward.

“What do you think? We should go back, right?”

The stars looked the same. The sky looked the same. And he found some comfort in this. Maybe wherever the others were, they were looking at the same thing that he was looking at. Were they doing all right without the three of them missing? Thoughtfully, the captain glanced down meeting the painted eyes of Merry with a half-a-smile.

He wanted to go back.

A smile poked through his cheeks as his wish passed through his mind again. Stupid, wasn’t it? It wasn’t exactly what he wanted. Truthfully, in the pit of his heart, he’d want his two shipmates to find their way back before him. Definitely. They had their dreams that were being dwindled away by time. They needed to go back; he wanted them to go first. Then that clock would go down then he would go back. He’d knocked down a steel-plated door to get Robin back, so a clock would be easy. Right. That was his plan–-or it had been. Things were complicated now. A lot more complicated. Smiles were harder to come by, knowing that comrades, friends, family, nakama, were out there where he didn't know what was happen and here they were here enjoying themselves to some extent.

Restless, and feeling a bit colder, Luffy shifted so that he lined gazes with Merry, looking off into the same direction she did. The air was cold on his skin and his cheeks had taken on a pinkish hue, but it didn’t matter to him. He stared, eyes in deep thought as his lips flattened into a thin line. He couldn’t grasp onto what was in front of him. Again. The situation was too big, but, nonetheless, he found himself fighting sleep throughout the night.

One nod. Two nods. Three. Silence.

Once again, the problems were placed on queue for their next meeting, hoping to be resolved in dreams of better days.
