Okay, so now this was a problem: they not only had one puppy, but two. Two puppies in an apartment being shared between three people; that... well, it would be okay now, while they were small, but when they grew up, it'd suck. "Hey, Subaru?" He nuzzled into Subaru's chest a little, one arm flopped over the other's stomach, feeling kinda bad for interrupting his book reading. "We... I think we need to figure out how we're going to work out this having two dogs thing. It... it's gonna get crowded, you know?"
It was a bit of an issue, considering the fact that space would very quickly be limited if not to a negative extreme. And Subaru did not think that puppies were going to appreciate having very little range in which to move about. Likely it was going to be cause for more problems than anything else, and then there were Hokuto's things to factor in. Too many things to factor in really. Subaru set the book aside with a faint sigh. "I'm not quite sure what to do about it. Space would be very limited and that doesn't convenience anyone."
"I know." Kamui sighed as he stared off a little, thinking. "Hokuto will freak if Ama-chan or Miya-chan eat anything of her's, and, I mean... they're puppies, so they're gonna chew." He thoughtfully chewed on his lower lip. "And they're going to get bigger, so... um..." Another sigh, and he nuzzled into the other again, considering something he kinda... didn't want to. "Maybe it would be easier if I just left. You'd have more room, and it's not like this is my home, right?"
Were he another person Subaru would've given Kamui a clout to the head at that, but that not being in his nature he ruffled the other boy's hair. Having made an effective mess of it--even if it looked no worse for it--he shook his head. "That's not true at all. It's your home too. Hokuto-chan would agree that we wouldn't throw you out for any reason." He was certain that his sister would express similar sentiment. After all, Kamui was their friend and had been for some time. Further, he was worried about what would happen if the other boy was left alone again.
Kamui squeaked and whined playfully when his hair was thoroughly messed, looking up to Subaru with a smile. "You would prefer me to stay, then? But that won't help the space issue at all." More thinking, and then a blush suddenly stained his cheeks. "Unless... unless you'd be okay with just you and I moving. I still have that apartment across the hall, and even though it's only a one bedroom, it's still... more roomy." Especially since Kamui didn't have as much crap everywhere as Hokuto sometimes did. "Hokuto wouldn't be living with us, but she would be right across the hall, and... I'm sorry." Kamui looked down. "Stupid idea, right?"
Subaru hadn't been much for ideas himself, unsure what could best remedy the problem of space along with how to keep the puppies from getting into his sister's clothes. They already seemed to be fascinated with them, and that could only spell imminent doom in the not too distant future. No definitely didn't seem to mean anything but yes so far. Having never had a pet of his own Subaru didn't know what he was supposed to do about that, though his current book was on dog behavior. Taking Kamui's idea into consideration it did seem to solve the major conflicts, though it would leave Hokuto alone...
...With all that closet space. She might just enjoy it. Funny how that worked. "That... might be the easiest solution..." And he'd still be very near his sister. That was a definite plus.
Kamui perked, looking back up at the other with wide-eyed surprise. "You... you really think so?" Well, that was a surprise. "You... wouldn't be uncomfortable living with me? I mean, there is only one bed, and one bedroom, and..." And suddenly he realized that was a stupid worry. They already slept together. "We wouldn't have to worry about Hokuto catching us sleeping together in the morning anymore."
"Not that she isn't very amused by it..." Subaru didn't know what could be so entertaining about them sleeping, really, but Hokuto seemed to find something about it that was worth focus. She seemed to love calling certain things to attention, most of which had a knack for causing embarrassment. Likely something that would never change. "But it would keep her things from being at risk, and she wouldn't be at all far."
"And my apartment's bedroom door has a lock, so I'll have somewhere to hide when she tries to put me in her outfits." A smile at that idea, Kamui already picturing Hokuto banging on the door as he relaxes on his bed. "No more shorts that barely cover anything for me." Except that, in reality, Hokuto would find a way to get him into such things anyway. "Mmm... it'll be really quiet, though." He idly let the hand of the arm over Subaru's stomach rub the other boy's side.
"I'm unsure whether she's encouraged by the resistance or when she ends up successful..." Subaru gave the hand a flicker of a glance before redirecting his attention. "I think the puppies would fill silence fairly easily though." Considering how vocal they were already, and they weren't likely to get quieter as they got bigger. Nothing that he minded really, but it was definitely far from quiet. It would be interesting to see what his sister thought of all this as well.
"True. They're only quiet when they're asleep." He shifted slightly, moving up a little to be more level to Subaru, but still holding onto him. "Should we tell Hokuto we're moving out? She's... going to tease us. Like she teases us about everything. She'd flip if she saw us right now." And, at that moment, Kamui considered pulling back, scooting away just a little.
Subaru was more than used to his twin's teasing, considering how she was they'd hear it no matter what they did. That was something that had been a fact of life in his mind for a good while. "True, but that'd happen either way. I'm fairly certain that we could be sitting on opposite ends of the couch minding our own business and she'd be able to make something out of it." There was no denying she had a knack.
"Nn." Kamui nodded, then pulled away entirely, staying to his own side of the bed and curling up a little. "Does it bother you? Are you sure you're not uncomfortable around me?" Odd how his own insecurities always seemed to come out when with Subaru. It was just... the thing he wanted least of all was for Subaru to dislike him in any way. He wanted to make sure Subaru was happy.
"Do I seem the sort that could mask discomfort well?" Considering how easily he blushed and in what frequency, Subaru deemed himself a fairly expressive person whether he wished it or not. And he did his best to be honest... Though it seemed no matter how many times he assured that Kamui caused no problems at all it didn't seem to remain fact for very long. "I'm not bothered or anything of the sort."
"But still... I'm always scared that..." He sighed. "I mean, I know you've always told me that you won't abandon me or hate me, but... things like that... tend to not last long with me." Kamui's voice got soft, and he curled up a little more, uncomfortable and upset again. Even though it was his own doing. "Fuuma... had told me that he'd always protect me from being harmed, but... in the end, that didn't..." Another sigh and a slight whimper left him. "I do things, make choices, that ends up making people leave."
"You'd have a difficult time driving Hokuto-chan or me away." Subaru stated, once more concerned with his friend's capacity to blame himself for everything. Even things that could potentially occur. And he didn't think that it was at all likely that his sister would leave anyone all alone and he didn't think that it was something he'd do either. Kamui was a kind person and if he'd had an unfortunate past that shouldn't have to eclipse the rest of his life, or as much was his thinking. Shifting a bit he pulled the other boy into a hug. "A very difficult one, although if you want a challenge you can try."
I'd rather not," Kamui said quietly, snuggling against Subaru once more with a sigh. "I'm just scared of something happening. Something drastic that I don't have conscious control over." An irrational fear for most, but considering Kamui's experiences in 1999, it was understandable for him. He... he needed to stop thinking about it, though; lest he start distancing Subaru.
"Hey, Subaru..." his voice was getting sleepy in sound; Kamui obviously being lulled by his current position, "do I make you happy at all?"
Subaru blinked at the question, a bit surprised that such a thing needed to be posed. He didn't see how a friend would not make him happy, especially someone like Kamui. Although he caused worry as well, that wasn't something Subaru could claim he didn't cause the other boy either. "Well, of course you do. I don't see how you would not." Having a friend that cared so much about him was something he valued highly. And he was glad to know that someone was that concerned about him, even if he didn't want to worry anyone.
"I'm... I'm glad." And he really was; having been afraid that he caused Subaru nothing but annoyance and worry. "I want you to be happy more... than anything. I... I'm just curious... of how I make you feel... in general..." It was obvious he was half asleep now, saying things he normally would have held in, were he more awake. "You... make me happy too, and..." he shifted, snuggling more, "my heart gets all fluttery, and..." A yawn.
The words weren't at at all something Subaru had expected his friend to start saying. About a week hence Kamui had said something that really stunned him, so he supposed that what he was saying now as related to that. Which... others would probably find him daft for being delayed in making the connection to begin with, but that didn't matter. People didn't know how slow he'd been with that. "I'm... glad that I can make you happy." He didn't know about the rest, but it was foreign to him.
"Mm." Kamui nodded slightly, obviously already pretty much gone. Had he not been, he probably would have flipped out about Subaru not answering further. Subaru just got lucky this time around. "Let's go sleep now. Mmm... snuggle..." His tone was almost cutesy in his sleepiness, his eyes closed, smiling a little, with his hair still messed from Subaru's ruffling earlier.
It was probably safe to say that Kamui was tired, if not going out like a light. Subaru was again a bit surprised by the change in his friend's tone, but given that he was half asleep that was easily enough rationalized in his mind. The other boy was drowsy which had affected his tone and his behavior. Simple. Though, he had to smile a little at it. For once his friend didn't sound so worried. "Goodnight, Kamui. Sleep well."
