Summary; Dinner with your friendly neighborhood sociopath.
Log;
Dexter wasn't a huge fan of having company over, but after a while, he did get lonely. After all, he had nothing to hide here, yet. The city wasn't like Miami, where he constantly had to impress others as to what a kind, smart, and personable being he was. It was a relief, but he found himself letting it get a little out of hand. True, the citizens here were not normal, they would probably even accept Dexter for who he was, but it didn't stop him from pretending to be as human as possible.
Though after two weeks of sitting in his house alone, with the exception of one particular visit that stood out from any he'd get any time soon, and sitting behind his laptop, he decided it was about time to get to know the fine people of this city that made him feel so trapped.
He could barely sleep at night, due to the restlessness of the Dark Passenger, who wanted SO badly to bring justice to this city. Dexter made sure, however, that it's seat-belt stayed fashioned, for it was no where near time for any of that, no matter how hard The Need knocked on his apartment door.
Tonight, however, he was listening for a different knock. He had lived off of egg salads and pork sandwiches for the past two weeks, and he had finally found a use for his newly purchased knife and the stack of steaks in his freezer. He'd entertain guests this week, make some friends, and hopefully wouldn't be too lonely in the future.
He cut a thick piece of fat off of each steak as they continued to cook on the stove. He used a smaller knife to cut up some vegetables he purchased from the market when he heard he'd be having company, and placed them in a separate pan to grill over the stove. He learned from past mistakes how to prepare food properly, so that everything was finished at once.
The table was set for two, nothing fancy, just a plate, a glass, and some silverware on each side, so that he and his guest could enjoy their dinner. He watched the steaks sizzle to perfection, continuing to listen for the door.
