Summary; Deidara drops by to talk to Tayuya about... change.
Log;
Tayuya had been sleeping. Fitfully. Her brow was furrowed and she rolled and shifted under the sheets, though this only caused her to wince in pain. Fraulein’s runes could heal, but never completely, not all at once. Not those kinds of injuries. But the sound ninja had finally settled, eyes closed and chest stilled, not moving. While awake she breathed out of habit. But asleep, truly asleep, she slept as if dead. But she suddenly opened her eyes, brown snapping open.
“Suigintou.” She called out, trying to rise up on her elbows, vision focusing on the doll. “… Did you hear something?”
Suigintou had been in a light sleep, waking up frequently to check on Tayuya as she tossed in her sleep. But the sudden jump to try to get up startled her, and she looked around through barely open eyes to examine her surroundings. She couldn’t spot anything unusual, and tried to lean over and support Tayuya so she wouldn’t hurt herself. Her voice faint, she asked, “is something wrong, Tayuya?”
Upon the window, a bird perched. Well, not a normal bird...but a boy, who was much like a bird..and had many birds at his disposal...violent ones made of clay. He sat there, observing, much like a hawk, seeing the girl laying mostly motionless in the bed, only stirring occasionally to turn over, or to speak to the smaller girl in the room. The boy bided his time, as many do when they are in his position, listening and watching to find the exact right time.
“I thought I heard something…” Tayuya murmured, keeping her voice low. She was wincing, having set up fast enough to aggravate her spine, which had been the worse of her injuries. The rest had been relatively minor. Broken bones, holes from nails, and bruises. She was in no condition to be fighting and her nerves were on- Her eyes suddenly widened and her skin suddenly paled at the sight outside her window, a bare glimpse of blonde and the cloak of Akatsuki. Her mind immediately whirled, trying to kick into survival. … Had to move. Had to protect Suigintou, had to get a weapon…
“Suigintou-“ She whispered harshly, “Get behind me.” The only thing she had on hand was a kunai under her pillow, and she reached for it slowly, knowing she may have to dive for the bedside table, where her flute lay.
Suigintou responded immediately, though not as Tayuya had asked. Her black wings grew in size, wrapping around both of them to protect them from any attacker. She was unsure how effective it would be, since she refused to draw any power from her recovering medium, but she would not go down without trying.
Deidara sighed at the sight before him, knowing that even if he didn't think it was the right time, he would have to go now, or risk not getting anything across at all. With a quick motion, he was in the room, standing behind the two girls, back to them. "Tayuya-san." He began, with an even but assertive voice, "I have not come to harm you. I have only come to speak. Please, hold your hostilities." He looked back at her, one eye visible, alight with a strange amusement. "Though, you would not be in any condition, would you?" The amusement soon faded, as he turned his head fully once again, blonde hair now all they could see. "I believe you and I have something in common." He moved at these words, coming to stand beside the doll-girl, looking to them. "Something that binds us, even though we do not realize it."
Tayuya’s grip tightened on the kunai. “Unless you get off on attacking bedridden people, then no, I’m in no condition.” She restrained herself from throwing in an insult. Her life was… as much as she hated to admit it, in his hands. If Suigintou wouldn’t pull power from her, she recognized the feeling, and hadn’t felt such yet, and her in bed- Well, it was a done deal from the beginning, despite. He was Akatsuki. Her free hand patted Suigintou’s shoulder, a hint to let down the wings. This man was an explosive specialist, and no defense they had would prevent it. “Bond?” She spat. “Unless you just got killed, I can’t think of shit we have in common besides being against Konoha.”
The wings unwrapped and shrank back to their normal size, and Suigintou came to rest on the bed again. She stared at the man in front of them, wondering what would posses him into coming to their apartment. But something about him scared her, and she couldn’t help but sit back onto Tayuya’s lap for comfort. Not wanting to show her fear, she asked, voice as unwavering as she could manage, “what do you want?”
Deidara's voice stayed calm and still, an almost monotone, which was uncharacteristic for the blonde. He was normally spastic in a sense, flying about, yelling in a manner that would rival the flute player, speaking in lofty tones about things that were 'philosophical', but in such a twisted way that it seemed the logic of a evil mastermind mixed with a hyperactive child. But now, he was quiet and serious, holding his passions back to speak in a way that was strangely quiet, and surprisingly solemn. "I do know we have our distaste for the Hi no Kuni village in common, flutist, but we also have something else in common. Which, I may add, is what has gotten both of us into the trouble we are currently in." Striding a bit more, he finally came to stop infront of the ninja and the doll, staring directly at them, his face deadpan. "That fact... is our changes in heart, and changes in soul, un."
Tayuya stayed silent for a moment, uncomfortable with the man’s proximity. “Go on, Deidara.” She stressed the use of his name, not liking the way he tossed her specialty about. “We may have something in common but that doesn’t explain why you’re in my bedroom.” Or the fact that she suddenly regretted that she only slept in the outer shift of her uniform and that she felt very vulnerable, injured as she was and with another to worry about for once. Not the mention that she hated references to the fact that she had gone soft and now everyone knew.
Deidara kept his eyes on the oto girl, interested. She had deigned to use his name, instead of an insult, which was rather strange to the boy. Normally her callings of people were an obscenity, or something akin to it. Maybe this was also a by-product of her softening. Deidara continued. "Tayuya-san. You say your heart has been changed by this city, un. Is that veritable? Or is it something you are saying to keep your enemies at bay, un?"
"..." Tayuya debated whether she should lie or not. But she was hardly in a good position to be caught in a lie. Or to be suspected of such, even. Her eyes narrowed, meeting the Akatsuki's gaze evenly, if not reluctantly. "... I've changed here." Was the answer she gave.
Deidara nodded, watching her expressions change. She was telling the truth, he could tell. He nodded, and returned with his own words. "...So have I, un." He continued to look at her, seeing her reaction. "...And I believe that is why your teammate attacked you..." He paused, sighing as he continued. "And why mine are going to attack me."
Tayuya frowned, taking a moment to prop a pillow against her back. It hurt. She shifted, moving Suigintou on her lap for a moment, glad the doll was staying quiet, not wanting to complicate matters, she knew Suigintou was extremely protective. "Well, your little lover boy, my teammate, beat the ever loving shit out of me, so I'm not sure where you're going with this, Deidara."
Deidara's face softened a little bit as he regarded her, continuing in his speech. "Is it right for us to change, un? Is...it right for our hearts to fall away from the shinobi's path that we have so forged all this time?" He turned for a moment, the silk of his coat making a small noise as he moved. "You have allowed your heart to change, as have I. But.. it is seeming to pull us toward ruination...I wish to know what you think of this? I know what is plaguing Kimimaro.." his voice quieted down even further as he spoke these words, like one would speaking of someone who had fallen, "He has lost what he once held dear as well. His life has changed, his reasoning has changed, and he does not know his path any longer." He looked up, eyes wavering as he studied the ceiling. "He has forgotten your master completely, you know."
Tayuya was annoyed that he was standing and she was reclining and finally sighed before snapping, “Sit the fuck down, would you?”, motioning to the foot of her bed, convinced he wasn’t going to kill her. Yet. She crossed her arms over her chest, watching the Akatsuki thoughtfully. This was really fucked up. “It’s fine to do whatever the fuck you want to do.” She finally said. As for Kimimaro… “Kimimaro has always been fucked up, and he fucking worships Orochimaru. So if he doesn’t remember him, then he’s empty. It’s all he fucking had, so now he’s just fucked up and without purpose. That’s your goddamn problem.” Her problem, as well.
Deidara nodded. "I know that. It is why he has gone slightly mad. But..I will help him along. The snake has been lost to Dorian, un. He needs something to fill him." He looked down, before finally settling on the flute player's bed. "He killed you, I believe, to prove himself..and to assure himself of his existence." He turned his head. "I worry for him, un." His mind became clouded with another thought, that began to visibly show on his face. "I also worry for the fact that he is targeted by those who ally with you, un.. and also, that he may be targeted by those who were allied with me, un." His movements were fidgety, face turning to the wall. "Is a change of heart something worth giving up everything for? Is it something meant for ones like us? I believed you would know, un."
Tayuya had to stop herself from spluttering into a laugh. This was so fucked. "Are you serious?" She finally asked, but answered her own question with a look at his face. This one was no good with lies. "Hnn." The sound ninja shifted again, trying to make herself comfortable. "I think... one, you're fucking psycho for being with Kimimaro. Two, that he killed me because he was exerting his authority. And three..." She paused, hesitant to say, but finally felt she could, "I want to lead my own goddamn life for once, even if it is my own goddamn death." She looked down at Suigintou. "Because I finally have people who give a damn if I live or die."
Deidara sighed once more, long and low. "Exerting his 'authority'....It's more of finding his path...but whatever you believe." His eyes once more found the floor, voice once again sounding. "Is that why I feel as I do, un? I have not had someone who cared if I lived or died...since my danna, Akasuna no Sasori." He stopped speaking at this, as something lodged itself in his throat..something painful, something which he knew. But, he would not allow it to hold sway. "My danna found death against those despicible Konoha wretches, un.. and since then, I have found no other who held me in such regard. I stayed strong against it, as is the way of shinobi and especially the way of Akatsuki, but..." He closed his eyes, allowing a faint smile to grace his lips. "Kimimaro-san has shown me something. That same regard. He..reminds me a lot of Sasori-danna." Deidara shook his head. "I know it is foolish to believe in something such, but, I wish for it so, un. He has taken the void where Sasori had left, and placed something within it. It is what is confusing me, un. I do not know how to deal with 'love', un. I did not with Sasori-danna either.. but he showed me the way, and a way to stay it from the eyes of our superiors." He sighed longingly once more, a raspy sorrowful sound. "This time, though, we will not be as lucky." His eyes snapped open, looking into the window, and the city beyond. "I will suffer your same fate soon, I know this."
She had to stop herself from rolling her eyes, settling for a rather immature action, kicking the Akatsuki in the butt from under the covers. “Oh, goddamn, you cannot think I know anything about love and helping with it?” She sighed, closing her eyes. Tayuya was not, and had never been, in love. She had lusted, she had liked, but never loved like that. But suddenly, someone who would be better to talk to came to mind. “Talk to the Konoha bitch if you want love advice and shit like that about your damned enemies.” She muttered, one eye open to look at him.
Deidara turned an eye to her, looking a little irritated. "I mean not of that. I know one like you would not know such a thing, un." He looked to the ceiling. " I just want to know how you deal with this change. Why it hasn't driven you to Madness." He walked up to the window, looking out it. "Shinobi are not meant for these feelings of..softness, as you put it, un. We are murderers. Not civilians. This has nothing to do with us, un. Nothing! And yet, here we are, assaulted with this, un. " He turned to her fully, face in a cast she had never seen, nor thought she would see on the Akatsuki's face. "But, I will no longer trouble you with my thoughts, un. I will get to one point. Please, call off those that are set against Kimimaro, if you can, un. I would wish him with me as I try to sort this bemuddlement from my mind. I believe he will be able to do it, as Sasori-danna before him, un." Gracefully, he moved toward the window, back once again to the girl and the doll. "I will not be able to protect him, either, I do not believe, un. And..I don't want him to fall like Sasori-danna, did, un...in obscurity with none to aid him, un." His eyes took a mournful cast. Not like me, who will soon fall...I know. My comrades, funny as I call them such, will be here for my blood soon... I will fall, and I wish him safe, un. I wish him safe....he...is too much like Sasori-danna...an artist. Too beautiful, un.
Tayuya grimaced. A romantic. Great. She did, however, take offense at one of his statements. Her grimace deepend as she pushed herself up from her pillows, slung her bare legs from the covers and slipped out of bed, standing immediately in front of the Akatsuki, who had hit a major nerve with a comment. "I cannot control anyone, and I haven't issued anything about Kimimaro beside's him being a fucker. I have no control over Greed." She snarled, innunciating each word with a poke at the blonde's chest, face angry. "None."
Deidara looked down at her, quietly. "I know you don't. Tayuya-san. I apologize for angering you, un. Please." He backed up to the window, eyes once more scanning the apartment. "Enjoy the road you have chosen. I do hope none come along to upset the way you have come, un." With this, he stepped back onto the windowsill, moving into the night air. Do not fall into misfortune, like I myself have. For you will regret. "Goodnight to you, lady of Otogakure, un. Until our paths cross again, un." As soon as this sound left the night air, the boy was gone, into the darkness, as from whence he had come.
Tayuya winced, propping herself up on the windowsill. She was going to leave, ignore all that had just happened, but... she turned back to the window, yelling out "I can stand it because I have people to fucking help me do it!" She answered one of his questions she had neglected. How she could change without going mad. And with a sigh, she closed the window. ... This was so fucked up.
