Log; Complete
When; Not too long after Freya's arrival.
Rating; G
Characters; Freya [
transmigrated] and Loki [
aesirbetrayal]
Summary; Freya and Loki select their apartment, then Loki sends Freya on a grocery shopping errand.
Log;
Freya; Later, later -- it was always later.
Freya walked behind him in an unfamiliar silence that was unbefitting of her, eyes lingering on the smaller frame walking ahead of her. It wasn't the boy she saw, but the entity within that caused her to advert her eyes and instead look towards the surroundings.
It hurt and he knew that, she was well aware of that much, and could never quite let herself understand why. If he was aware of it, aware of how much some of the things he said hurt her, then why did he insist on continuing to say them? It was Loki and, because of that, he had to have a sufficient reasoning behind it.
Freya opened her mouth to speak and gradually let it close again before she stopped walking entirely. This place was strange, the people were even stranger and, no matter the clothes she wore, she was still cold. The way she looked at his back now, it somewhat resembled the wounded but forgiving gaze of a dog who had just been kicked.
Did he really understand her feelings? Did he really understand just how much she loved him?
Loki; Freya's constant gazes from behind didn't seem to bother him if he noticed. He was busy trying to figure things out...as per usual. Loki always had to think ten steps ahead, after all. It was the only way he had survived this long.
He had heard that the rent and most everything else here was...completely free, but that didn't mean he wanted to sleep just anywhere. At the very least, it seemed that there were solid apartment buildings, and they all surrounded the City in a rather large circle.
Standing beside the frigid fountain, Loki cast a look over his shoulder. Sigh Why did Freya have to look so dejected?
At least the ticking was almost nonexistent now that he had her for company.
Hoping a change of subject would distract her, he turned and folded his arms across his chest. "Pick a number between one and ten."
Freya; Freya didn't seem to hear him at first, at least until she shook her head and blinked herself free of her previous daze. While the change of subject might have been welcomed to him it made her feel a bit suspicious, though she wasted few precious seconds in picking a number.
"Seven," she murmured, taking a step or two towards and then past him to admire the fountain. The cold, while annoying, made the fountain look absolutely beautiful, she thought, as she reached a hand out to allow the mist to dance along her palm. "The fountain, I want to see it during the spring. It's too cold to enjoy it now," she murmured more to herself than anything else. Then, after some careful consideration, she shot him an inquisitive glance over her shoulder.
She retracted her hand and waved it about for a time to rid it of any stray droplets of water before she walked back over to him and kneeled down to be level. "Why? Are we playing a game?" While, admittedly, she wasn't particularly in the mood for one, it was doing well in distracting her from her earlier displeasure, it seemed.
Loki; The Aesir watched quietly as she mused about the fountain, then smiled a bit when she crouched in front of him. "I pick five. So we'll find a room to stay in on the fifth floor of Building 7. How does that sound?"
Waving his hand a bit for her to follow, Loki turned and waltzed off in the direction of the aforementioned building. Part of him hoped Reiya would appear before it was time to go to sleep.
Sleeping under the same roof as Freya could be considered dangerous, if you were him.
Freya; "That wasn't a very fun game at all," Freya lazily chimed in before she rose to her feet and contented herself with falling into step beside him. She had only just arrived a short time ago and found that sleep didn't seem to be too far away. Then, as she tipped her head off to one side, she glanced down at him and crossed her arms over her chest.
"Loki," she murmured firmly but perhaps in a stroke of luck, one of the few the boy might have during his stay, she smiled. "Have you eaten since you arrived? I'll cook something before bed, but I can't promise it'll be as good as his cooking." But it couldn't have been the worst either, she inwardly mused.
Loki; True, it was rather impossible to beat out Yamino's cooking, but he was certain Freya couldn't be too terrible. Reiya was a good cook, and surely those sorts of skills could carry over? Even if the meek personality didn't.
"No, I haven't... Does that mean you'll take care of the grocery shopping, too?" Loki inquired with a sly little smile over his shoulder.
Freya; "You would really make me go back out in the cold all by myself?" She proceeded to feign helplessness and offered a pout in exchange for his smile. He really was tricky, wasn't he? But that, naturally, was part of his limitless charm that continuously attracted her to him, wasn't it?
Charm or not, she thought, as she glanced back over her shoulder into the endless winter behind her, the idea of braving the cold alone didn't exactly appeal to her. "Ah, I don't have a choice. I'm going to have to if we don't have anything to cook in the apartment."
The things she did for love.
Loki; Her pouting didn't seem to have much affect on Loki, but it was rather cold. He didn't recall it being winter in Japan when he had last gone to sleep, so the sudden change was a little unsettling. And Freya...didn't exactly walk around in the most sensible clothing.
He remained quiet until they reached the elevator of Building 7. Once inside, he reached up to tug off his coat, holding it up to her while staring at the numbers blink by. "For your trip. You should consider getting us some more clothing, possibly. Reiya, too. It won't do you any good if she falls ill."
Freya; "You're more worried about her," Freya murmured more to herself than anyone else, but snatched the jacket free from his grasp when it was offered. If she absolutely had to go, then she wasn't going outside without some type of warmth. After shrugging into the coat, she flipped her lengthy blond hair over her shoulders and groaned.
"Why can't the snake be here? Or my brother?" She paused, mentally scratched off the latter of the two and went back to sulking. "He would have gone shopping and probably would have enjoyed it." She propped herself up against the elevator wall then and eyed the numbers along with him.
"Eggs, milk, toast.." she began, singsong-like, to herself as if to commit a makeshift shopping list to memory. She would get as much as she could carry and, if it was necessary, a second trip would be in order. Free shopping was a convenience, one she wasn't about to pass up, as it seemed to be one of the very few good things the city had to offer.
