Summary; After mustering up some courage, Jeager asks Anita to dinner. Congrats, Jeager! This is your third date!
Log;

Jeager couldn't believe he had actually asked Anita out to dinner. He was a bit date/love/sex stupid, but he was slowly learning. Ever since Mars had put up that embarrassing ad, Jeager began to feel a bit more confident about himself. And what better way to show off ones masculinity then to take a lovely lady out to dinner?

At about 4:50PM, he left his apartment and headed over to Anita's, going through his usual line of thoughts; I hope she won't be bored. What if I offend her? What if she doesn't enjoy herself? Am I dressed alright?

His clothes were nothing fancy. Just a simple pair of jeans and a dark green sweater, a brown trench coat, along with his trade-mark collar and brooch. He had brushed his hair, but the wind had messed it up again. Not that it was extremely noticeable.

Jeager shook his head, trying not to think such nerve-wrecking thoughts as he arrived at Anita's apartment. He took a deep breath, clutched his skull brooch for a moment, then knocked on the door.

For the first time in a long while, Anita found herself questioning her moral character. Since coming to the city, she had been keeping a good deal of male company. Granted, all of the relationships she had formed were companionable and little else, but... well, she couldn't help but wonder what her Andrew would think. She consoled herself with the knowledge that this world was very different from her own, and here it was not obscene for women to accompany men.

The fact that it was Jeager she was accompanying to dinner also helped. He was an exceedingly good man, and Anita doubted he would place her in an uncomfortable situation.

There was a knock at the door. Anita left her last minute preparations--tucking away errant curls, double-checking the state of her customary floor-length dress--and went to answer it before Maude could be bothered. She paused, hand on the doorknob, suddenly nervous. What if she had erred in accepting Jeager's dinner invitation?

Enough of that. Anita regained her composure and opened the door.

Jeager--whose imposing size and build had stunned Anita on their initial meeting--was dressed simply, but nicely. She smiled up at him, stepping outside the apartment and softly shutting the door behind her. "Good evening, Mister Jeager."

"No sir, I'm quite ready," she replied, slipping into her jacket. "May I ask where we're going?"

"That's perfectly acceptable." Anita had only been to Pandora's once before, and it had been pleasant. She appreciated Jeager's thoughtfulness, however. It was refreshing to be around a courteous gentleman; the treatment of ladies in the present was vastly different from that which Anita was accustomed to.

Anita thanked Jeager as he seated her, absolutely tickled by his manners. She had been in the city long enough to realize that such gentlemanly actions were not the norm.

She too browsed the menu, although most of the dishes offered were not familiar to her. She would order what Jeager did, then; it would be simplest.

"Thank you for having me to dinner," Anita said to her companion, placing her menu back on the table. It wasn't a terribly original or interesting topic, but she wasn't particularly skilled in the area of casual conversation, and the sentiment was perfectly true.

"It can be lonely, yes," Anita replied, "although the curses keep it from being dull for any great length of time."

She smiled gratefully at Jeager's offer. "The food here is still largely unfamiliar, sir. I would not refuse your assistance."

"There is nothing I am particularly opposed to," Anita said honestly. "Perhaps I shall order what you do... unless you have a suggestion, sir?"

Anita smiled, hoping to ease Jeager's apparent discomfort. "I don't suppose I will know until I try, will I?"

[identity profile] invisible-anita.livejournal.com 2007-02-09 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"That sounds delightful. I believe I'll order the same."

With that decided, Anita switched the topic of conversation to something she had been curious about since meeting Jeager. "If you don't mind my asking, sir, what sort of world did you live in before coming to the city? From what little I have heard of it, it is very different from both this world and mine."

Anita listened attentively, storing away the information Jeager was sharing with her. The possibility of countless other worlds--worlds so very different in form and content--existing simultaneously both intrigued and baffled her.

As Jeager leaned back, she leaned forward. "Then your world is a balance of good and evil? Tell me, sir... are good and evil always distinct from eachother? Is there... a gray area, of sorts? Neither good nor evil, but... ambiguous?"

"Is it at all strange, associating so closely with those who used to oppose you?" Perhaps the question was a little to personal, but Anita's curiosity was getting the better of her.

Anita returned Jeager's smile. "That is very kind of you, sir... being so forgiving. Where I'm from, there was very little mercy given to those who did wrong."

[identity profile] invisible-anita.livejournal.com 2007-02-10 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
"As do I, but such a forgiving philosophy is not terribly common."

"But surely they don't see your forgiving nature as a bad thing? I think it is admirable."
