Draped across the couch in their sitting room, Kaoru flipped through a book boredly, yawning widely and glancing over at Hikaru. His twin was mirroring his position at the other end of the couch, looking equally as bored. They had been inside all day and for the Hitachiin twins, that just wouldn’t do.

Chucking the book onto the coffee table, Kaoru slid his way across the space between them and wrapped his arms around Hikaru’s waist, resting his chin playfully on his brother’s chest. “Hikaru? I’m bored. Let’s go do something. Wanna go practice?” he asked curiously. The entire idea to pick up AT was actually Hikaru’s idea, but as usual, Kaoru happily went along with it, and had ended up liking it. Ikki’s team was looking for more members, and the two of them figured they might as well try out. It would give them something to do, at least. If they didn’t make it, it didn’t particularly matter to them, but it was worth a shot.

Hikaru snapped his book shut and tossed it onto the table as well. He settled a hand in the small of Kaoru’s back before pressing a kiss to his forehead. “Practice sounds fine with me,” he said in response. “The weather looks too nice to waste anyways.”

Easing off the couch, he stood up and offered a hand to Kaoru, pulling him up as well. Still keeping his hand in his brother’s, he walked over to their bedroom and picked up a pair of AT’s resting on the floor. After handing those over to Kaoru, he took his own pair and lead them back to the couch.

“What do you think our chances are in this tournament?” He asked as he pulled the gear on. Once he was done, he stood up and glanced out the window. It wasn’t that Hikaru felt he had to be on the team, but it certainly wouldn’t hurt. Besides, not getting on the team wouldn’t stop them from skating or anything. They had been given a new escape, and he certainly wasn’t going to put it to waste, whatever happened in the end.

“Ready to go?” Hikaru moved over to the balcony and pushed the glass doors open. A nice breeze drifted in, and he closed his eyes for a moment.

“Our chances? I don’t know. What if they only want one of us or something?” Kaoru asked, sitting down on the couch and pulling the AT’s on, glancing up at his brother every now and again. “If that happens, you’re doing it,” he said firmly, looking down as tightened the shoe and stood up. “You’re better at it, anyway. And you like it more than me,” Kaoru smiled, gliding over to his twin and kissing him on the cheek.

A moment later, he joined him on the balcony, enjoying the breeze as well and looking fondly at Hikaru. He looked peaceful and relaxed and that was just how Kaoru liked seeing him. That, or laughing happily. “I’m ready,” he nodded, lifting his hand to squeeze the other boy’s for a moment before taking a step off the balcony and doing a somersault in the air, landing on the ground with surprising grace. “Race ya,” he called back up to Hikaru, laughing brightly now as he took off. AT’s were really amazing, they had both discovered. The feeling of freedom was overwhelming and intoxicating at the same time. Besides that, no one else in the Host club participated, so it was yet another thing to twins shared with each other.

Hikaru had just opened his mouth to reply, but Kaoru had already taken off. He simply watched for a second, making a note to talk to him about the matter of joining the team later on. They always did things together, and the thought of actually doing something separately felt a bit wrong to him.

However, there would be another time to think about that. With a gentle shrug, Hikaru leapt into the air and raced after Kaoru. For just a second, he worried that his twin had already gotten far ahead of him, but he was relieved to find the other not too far off. With an extra burst of speed, Hikaru came up behind his brother and looped his arms around his waist.

“I caught you~” he whispered into the other’s ear, lips curling into an impish smile. Hikaru laughed and spun around then, releasing Kaoru as he continued to sail forward. Turning back around, he increased his speed once more, racing toward the stairs just a short distance away.

Taking a leap and grinding along the railing, Hikaru waved at his brother as he disappeared around the gentle curve of the stairs. At the bottom, he came to a gentle stop and looked up in the direction that he came. There was no way he was going to leave Kaoru alone too long, race or not.

The arms around his waist definitely surprised him, and Kaoru gasped loudly, feeling Hikaru’s hot, teasing breath on his ear. He hadn’t been expecting the other to catch up with him so quickly. On top of that, the whisper had enough of an effect on him to distract him, and moment later, his brother was gone again, this time ahead of him. Grinning, Kaoru hurried to catch up, but he had lost his lead.

So instead, he took the opportunity to watch Hikaru grind down the railing of the stairs in front of him. His twin really was rather good at that. Kaoru wasn’t as confident in his own abilities. He meant it when he said he would let Hikaru have the spot on the team. If it made his brother happy, he was more than willing to do it. True, it would be strange, if that ever happened, doing something separately, but that didn’t matter at the moment.

When he finally caught up with him, Kaoru glided up and looped his arms around Hikaru’s neck, laughing quietly. “You’re really good, Hikaru. I mean that,” he smiled sincerely, though there was amusement in his eyes. “And you beat me. No fair,” he laughed louder this time.

Hikaru wrapped his arms around his twin’s waist, pulling them close. He took a quick look around him before pressing a kiss to Kaoru’s lips. “Thanks,” he murmured, still holding his brother close. “We never declared a finish line, so technically, we could still be even.”

He laughed and released the other, skating back a few steps. Hikaru then extended his hand toward his brother before pulling him down the street. He closed his eyes for a moment, simply enjoying the feel of the wind rushing past him. Keeping quiet for a moment longer, Hikaru leapt into the air and grabbed Kaoru s hand in the process as they flew through empty space.

Upon hitting the ground once more, he took Kaoru and led him to the side of the street. “You know. About the team thing,” Hikaru started, eyes dropping to the ground. “As much as I enjoy this new activity, I don’t want to join Ikki’s team if you aren’t there with me.

“I don’t want to be separated from you. Not even for a short while.” Hikaru pressed a kiss to Kaoru’s cheek and gave his twin’s hand a tight squeeze. “If that doesn’t work out, we’ll figure out what to do then.”

Sneaky kisses were always exhilarating, even though they were usually too fast for the other twin to reciprocate. Kaoru couldn’t help but grin at Hikaru for a moment as he glided away from him again, before he reached out and caught his hand, pulling him gracefully into the air. AT was a whole new experience for both of them, that feeling of being able to fly like that. It was amazing, and Kaoru loved it. He didn’t care if they made some team or not, to be honest. Being able to do it for fun was plenty enough for him.

Hikaru seemed to be thinking about the same subject as he stopped the two of them and pulled Kaoru aside. He listened intently to what his brother had to say, smiling warmly at him. Doing things separately was something they weren’t used to and had avoided for most of their lives. He understood completely what Hikaru was talking about and nodded in reply.

“I know. I don’t want to be separated from you either,” he agreed. “I was just saying. If you really want it, then you shouldn’t let me hold you back, mm?” he murmured, leaning in and returning a kiss to Hikaru’s cheek as well. “That’s all. It’s not like I’m going anywhere,” he added reassuringly, pulling his brother in for another hug, this time pressing a sweet kiss to his neck.

“Given the choice between you and the team, the answer would always be you,” Hikaru replied, voice soft. Taking his twin’s chin in his free hand, he studied the other for a moment before letting a warm smile spread across his face. He laughed softly then before moving in closer, gently pressing Kaoru against the wall. “It doesn’t matter what the decision is, I will always choose you.”

Hikaru leaned in to press a gentle kiss against his brother’s jaw before pulling away, eyes dancing with a mixture of joy and mischief. He pulled Kaoru away from the wall again before making a gesture toward the open streets. “Shall we keep going then?” he asked, giving his twin another bright smile. “Best if we both train a bit if we both want to get on the team, hm?

“Let’s go!” Hikaru turned forward once more and spirited off, fingers still tightly entwined in between Kaoru’s.
