She had been sleeping, her eyes closed and her hair messed. Sleeping in a partial cage of icy thorns born of magic and despair. Ears twitched once as she heard the door creak open. Eyes slid open and she lifted herself from the floor, eyes focused on the door. She didn't move to grab a weapon or raise the wards, she watched.
In her mind, the voice, one not her own, whispered venomous words, feeding upon the dark feelings already deeply routed in her mind. She was alone, forgotten, abandoned, stained. A used toy, a pet, things she never gave into before, but this was different, her heart was colder still, slowing. She wanted to disappear, Into dreams, into the earth. At least then she would no longer be alone. Eyes sharpened by pain watched as the door to her bedroom opened.
