Summary; After Naruto disspeared the day before to fight Itachi, he heads back to explain everything to Sasuke hoping he'll understand.

Sasuke let out a sigh. It was just a few moments ago that Nell had finally left when Naruto told him he was on his way over. He could tell something had happened to Naruto, and with everyone keeping it from him, it only proved it more, not to mention it make him worry about the other even more, and that annoyed him, though when the other told him he was coming, he couldn't help but feel a bit relieved. He stretched his arms and lay back against the sofa while he waited.

He was both looking forward to getting back and dreading it at the same time. Going back home meant that he could finally be back with Sasuke and his father again. But being back also meant that he had to make do on his word. He'd have to explain to Sasuke everything that happened. Everything that'd happened after he'd broken a promise.

It was that reason alone that left the blond outside the door, unable to make a move to open it. "...just...do it!" And still, he didn't budge. When had it ever been so hard to just see Sasuke? ...well, since he'd gotten into the City.

A few moments passed, when suddenly he could feel Naruto's presense nearby, he stood up and walked towards the door and as he approached it, he reached forward to open it, seeing Naruto on the other side, covered in bandages. He was momentarily at a loss for words, before he spoke up "....Naruto? What the hell happened to you?!"

Well, it seemed like his time had run out. "Uh...hey." Forcing a grin onto his face, Naruto scratched his head nervously, only barely managing to contain his wince. "It's...a long story." Stepping forward, he moved into the apartment, glancing between the main room, and the hallway that led to the bedrooms. He knew he still needed to slepp. But at the same time, he had to talk to Sasuke. "...can we...go into the bedroom though?"

Sasuke closed the door behind the other,he turned to face Naruto, and just nodded, "Yeah, sure, we can go in the bedroom"

Slipping his shoes off, Naruto made his way toward the bedroom. His coat was dumped on the end of the bed, before he practically collapsed on top of it. It took a few moments before he remembered the whole reason he'd come back. Sitting up carefully, he shifted, offering space for Sasuke to come and sit too.

He followed Naruto into the bedroom, and sat down beside him when Naruto moved so he could sit down. "Okay, go ahead talk. What happened?"

A sigh, and Naruto shifted to rest against Sasuke's side. "Just...don't get pissed off, okay?" He shook his head. "I mean, I know you will. But...let me explain, okay?"

Sasuke frowned, "...Okay, I won't. Just, go ahead and explain already"

And now, it seemed, was the moment of truth. "I got into a fight." His head ducked down, eyes on the blanket beneath them. This was harder than he first thought it would be. But...he'd promised, hadn't he? He couldn't just back out because things were difficult. "...I...went after Itachi..."

A fight. Well that much was obvious to him, considering how beaten up Naruto looked. It was only moments later the last part of what Naruto said registered in his mind. That idiot, he should have known it was something like that, He paused, seeing as he promised his wouldn't just pissed off, hejust clenched his fist, trying to force back his anger, "You...Itachi...so exactly what happened?"

A hand reached out, taking ahold of Sasuke's carefully, unsure if he'd even be allowed right then. All he really wanted was to forget everything that'd happened. He wanted...everything back to normal. But that just wasn't possible. Not now. "After...what happened. I couldn't...I couldn't just let him get away with it. I found him, and we had a fight. And...and we both got hurt pretty badly."

Sasuke scowled, after everything he did for Naruto. He shook his head, he really didn't know how he felt right then, especially about Naruto. The sudden feel of the other's hand taking ahold of his, he pushed it away. "Idiot. I told you not to...didn't I tell you you'd only get hurt if you did? ...Both of you? How badly?"

"I...I know." Sitting back up properly, Naruto reopened the gap between them. Until he'd explained himself, then Sasuke wouldn't be able to...to what? Forgive him? Why would he do that? After breaking a promise like that... "...he lost an arm. And...I got a direct hit with my new jutsu. The rest weren't that much though."

Sasuke breathed in slowly, trying to recollect his thoughts from what Naruto just told him. "He lost his..." The thought of Naruto being able to hurt his brother like that, he couldn't help but feel weak like his brother kept repeating to him, since he, himself wasn't able to stop his brother when the incident with that curse happened a few days ago. He shook his head, pushing the thoughts aside, "I...I didn't mean about him, I meant you. How badly did you get hurt?"

Now this was the part he didn't actually want to tell. Especially not to Sasuke. It'd been bad enough having to ask the others. And then to have Shizune tell everyone... "I...used up most of my chakra. ...Kyuubi too. And I used too many tails... The rest were just things that Shizune managed to fix up." Technically, it wasn't a lie...

"...The kyuubi...too many tails? What do you mean?" Sasuke paused, he turned to face Naruto, looking worried slightly, "And...that's all that happened?It can't have been just that, if you went to all that trouble to prevent me from hiding out, you know"

It was at times like this that he was reminded of the fact they were both from different times. This Sasuke hadn't seen what Kyuubi was like. "The more tails I use, the more...damage it does to me. I used more than I've used before. And...it hurt me." He frowned, annoyed at the fact that there was a large blank patch of his memory. The time that the fifth tail had emerged. He had no way of knowing what happened during that time. Not without asking the only other person who was there. ...something he wouldn't ever do. "We just need some rest, and things should go back to normal pretty soon."

Sasuke wasn't sure how to respond to that, he just let out a sigh still not sure whether he was angry or not "...You're an idiot, Naruto. You promised me you wouldn't. Why couldn't you have just listened to me for once? You don't even tell me until now...why did you have to hide it?"

"That was before." Why couldn't he just understand that? If things had been the other way round, would Sasuke have honestly sat back and let Itachi get away with it? "...I knew you'd worry if I told you I was going."

"Before? Hn. You're such a hypocrite. You tell me not to leave like I do in your time, and even not to go after him, mostly because I didn't want you to get hurt, and then you go and do exactly that?" Sasuke scowled "Damnit. Naruto. You don't get to just go ahead and do that. Not after all I did to keep my promise to you! You should've known I would worry either way, whether you told me or not, you know"

"I know..." Twisting round to face Sasuke properly, Naruto tucked his feet beneath him, pushing onto his knees. Grabbing ahold of Sasuke's sleeve, his forehead rested on Sasuke's shoulder. "I made a mistake. A big mistake. But I...I'm sorry. And...it's not gonna happen again. I just..." His voice shook a little, grip tightening. "I didn't know what else to do."

The sudden movement of Naruto taking ahold of his sleeve tightly and resting his his forehead against his shoulder, Sasuke wasn't sure what to do just then. He was torn between wanting to just forgive Naruto and still being angry at him, and because of that he just stood there and let Naruto hold onto him.

"Sasuke...just say something. Please..." Even if it was just to yell at him, he didn't care right then. He needed to know what Sasuke was thinking. ...and if there was a way to make things right again. "...I'm sorry. More than I can ever say."

Sasuke looked at Naruto, thoughfully before he just let his anger about the situation fade away. "I...please just don't do something as stupid like that again," he shifted slightly, embracing Naruto gently, "I don't want to lose you too...not to him"

Looking up slightly, Naruto couldn't help the obvious relief that came from the feel of Sasuke's arms around him. Moving without fail, his own arms wrapped around the other, refusing to let go. "I...I'll try not to." It was as much as he was able to say just then. There was no telling what would happen if the situation called for it. "...but I'm not going anywhere."

"Naruto...if I can keep my promises to, then you can too, otherwise next time I won't forgive you as easily" Sasuke sighed,"...yeah, but you could have"

"It wasn't that easy. Not after...after that." Stifling a yawn, he shook his head. "I wouldn't let that happen. Not...not when I've got more important things to do."

"Well at least compared to how I could have just as easily have hated you for it...wait. after what?" Sasuke couldn't help but laugh "I'm going to hold you to that...what more important things?"

"You...you would've...hated me?" He couldn't keep the hurt out of his voice at that idea. He'd done it all for Sasuke. And now he was telling him that he could've ended up hating him? His voice turned low as he continued. "After what happened...before." The one recent event he wished he'd been there to stop from happening.

As for important things, "...I've gotta find a way to bring dad back to life. And..." He shook his head. "S'not important right now."

"Maybe. Only because you shouldn't go and do stuff like that, not because of me. What my brother did...it shouldn't matter" Sasuke shook his head, as he could felt the hurt in Naruto's voice as the other spoke because of what he said, probably about hating him. Sasuke merely smirked as he moving closer and pressed his lips against Naruto's momentarily "Hey...you should know that, given how I feel about you, that wouldn't have lasted long either"

He smiled at the other, "Oh...stuff like that, well, just as long as it's something you're keeping from me again, then you can tell me about it later"

"Why not? If someone hurts someone I care about, I can't just...ignore it." No matter how much he knew he should do just that. It may not make things better, but it felt better in the end. ...even with the pain. "You..." A smile. The first real one he'd managed in a while. "You mean it, right? You're not gonna.." Another shake of his head. "...is that all you wanted to know?" Because sleep...would be a good idea, right about then.

"Of course I know you can't, even I couldn't just ignore it when he killed my clan back then...I hate my brother, I still do...but I'm trying for you, because you mean more to me, and you going after him..." Sasuke said as his gaze shifted to the bandages Naruto was wearing, "Getting hurt, I didn't want that"

A few moments later, he looked up at Naruto briefly before he leaned against him "Yeah, I'm not, don't worry. I don't think I could hate you really...not like him, but yeah that was all I wanted to know, unless you had something you neglected to tell me?"

He turned silent at Sasuke's admission, pulling back enough to look seriously at him. He hadn't honestly thought that far. Sure, he knew he'd asked Sasuke to stop chasing after Itachi. But after everything that'd happened, if Sasuke was still able to keep from chasing after the elder Uchiha, then he should be able to too. "...I..." A sigh and his gaze dropped to the bed. "...it wont happen again."

A moment of unease passed over him. He knew he could get out of this conversation without mentioning it, but... "...there's more. It's not anything big though, 'cause it's fixed now. But...I don't want you to hear about it from someone else." He scratched his head, laughing nervously. "Itachi wasn't the only one who lost an arm."

"...Good, I'm glad you won't because I don't want anything else to happen to you" Sasuke relaxed slightly as Naruto words; however, as other mention there was more to the story, he turned to face him and listen as he spoke, he began to feel a bit uneasy at Naruto's admission "An arm? You lost an arm?! How is that not anything big, or something you should have mentioned to me earlier?"

"It was fixed though. I mean, there's nothing wrong with it now." He held out his right arm as though trying to prove his point. Other than the bandage wrapped around his hand, and a few random scratches, it was as good as new. "I don't remember when it happened."

"So that's why you were saying you were at Shizune's before..." Sasuke looked at Naruto's arm as he held it out to show him it was fine, and just shook his head, "..You don't remember? How can you not remember something like that?"

"...yeah. Momo to go and find it, and then Shizune reattached it." Dropping his hand back down, Naruto shifted back to rest his back against the wall again. "When I use Kyuubi. Sometimes he takes over. I...I don't know what happens then. I think I lost it then."

"...Oh, so that's why" Sasuke let out a sigh and wrapped his arms around Naruto again, trying to get more comfortable "I'm glad you told me everything, Naruto."

Smiling gently, Naruto's arm wrapped around Sasuke's waist, drawing him close, before resting his head against Sasuke's shoulder. "m'sorry I didn't tell you before. I just...I wanted to tell you in person." Well, he really would've preferred to have hid it altogether. But certain injuries had made that impossible. "...will you stay?"

"It's fine" Sasuke turned his gaze to Naruto and smiled, "Yeah, of course I'll stay"

Smiling gently, Naruto finally found himself relaxing, relieved that things were at least...comfortable again. He knew it'd take longer before they were back to normal, but this was at least a bonus right then. "...I love you, yanno."

Sasuke grinned at that, and kissed Naruto on the cheek, "I love you too, Naruto"

"And...I trust you, more than anything." It was something he could only truely say to one person, now. "None of it's gonna change."

Sasuke gently tightened his grip around Naruto "Yeah, I feel the same way about you too"

Looking back up to Sasuke, his expression turned serious for a moment. "So...if I...if I made the same promise as before, would you believe me?"

Sasuke paused as he thought about it for a moment "...Yeah, I'll believe you."

"...and you'll do the same, right? You wont go after him, no matter what he says?"

Sasuke nodded, "Yeah, I'll do the same..."

Letting out a heavy sigh of relief, Naruto smiled, his head nuzzling into Sasuke's shoulder. As long as he knew Sasuke would be safe, he refused to break his side of the promise. Again.
