Log; Since arriving in the city, Morinaga and Tatsumi had mostly stuck to themselves. There were plenty of things to do inside, in Morinaga’s opinion and he didn’t mind in the slightest. Still, he liked parties as well as the next twenty-something year old, and costume parties were even better.

By some miracle, the vivacious pink-haired hostess had invited his senpai, and that was how he found himself looking rather adorable in a puppy costume, leaning against a railing and drinking some unknown alcoholic beverage that tasted like lime and coconut. Tatsumi had walked off grumbling to get more alcohol, naturally. How he had actually gotten the other man to go and bring him along, at that, was also a miracle in itself. Morinaga was sure it had something to do with the large quantities of free alcohol. Whatever the reason was, he was fine with it. The people in the city were interesting and he was enjoying meeting a few more of them.

Alcohol made so many things better, Sano thought, as he set down yet another empty glass - even Spitfire would have trouble rousing his anger in his inebriated state. An unguarded smile appeared on his face as he edged away from the crowds and drinks, moving toward the side of the building. Resting his arms on the railing there, he sighed contently before turning to the stranger standing to his right.

“A beautiful night, wouldn’t you say?” Sano blinked slowly. “Even with the party going on in the background, I’d say it’s perfect for… romance.” The young man gestured with his hand, fingers curving elegantly to frame the other’s face in the air. “I can’t say I’ve ever seen you before. May I ask who you might be?

“But ah~ I should probably introduce myself first.” He bowed slightly, hand moving to press against his chest. “My name is Sano, a friend of the hostess and… an enemy of the host.” Sano straightened up and slightly tilted his head to the side. “What’s your name, Mr. Puppy?”

Blinking in surprise, Morinaga turned to look at the man who now stood next to him. He hadn’t expected anyone to approach him unless it was Tatsumi, at the moment. The fellow beside him was handsome and obviously… rather intoxicated. Dressed like Clark Kent, from the looks of it. And what did he just say? Romance? Pink colored his cheeks for a moment, and he was about to introduce himself, but the man continued on, graciously informing Morinaga of his name and inquiring for his, the title “Mr. Puppy” causing his face to break out into a smile. “Nice to meet you, Sano,” he nodded, smiling warmly yet politely. “I’m Morinaga,” he replied, offering his hand for the other to shake.

“I can’t say I know either the host or the hostess,” he admitted with a laugh. “But, you say you’re an enemy of the host, and you still came?” he asked curiously, quirking his head to the side, his puppy ears following suit. Morinaga was actually no where near being drunk. He was hardly even feeling a buzz, as he was still working on his second drink. Sano, it seemed, had been working on it for awhile. Not that he was behaving outrageously, but after so many college parties, one could easily tell.

Sano glanced down at the hand offered to him before grabbing it, closing the distance between them in the process. He gave the other an intoxicated smile before his lips quirked into something more akin to a smirk. “Morinaga? It’s good to meet you…

“And do you really have any space to talk? You don’t know either of them, and somehow you’ve managed to get invited to this party.” The young man laughed and turned to lean against the railing, eyes moving to rest of the pink-haired hostess. “Even if I had said no, Simca probably would’ve dragged me here anyways. It was probably for the best that I just came on my own.

“But then again, the host is part of the reason I’m so drunk.” Sano shifted slightly, moving a little closer to Morinaga before leaning in to get a closer look at the other. “So tell me. What’s a guy like you doing all alone at a party like this?”

Morinaga’s eyes widened again as Sano latched on to his hand and pulled himself closer to him. The smile on his face remained, however. He was good looking and had been polite and otherwise non-threatening, so he figured he didn’t have anything to worry about at the moment. Although, that smirk of his was somewhat disconcerting. In a sexy way.

Laughing again, with Sano this time, Morinaga nodded and shrugged. “I guess you’re right,” he agreed, glancing over in Simca’s direction as well before looking back at the other man beside him. “You’re drunk because of the host?” he asked curiously, raising his eyebrows. “Why’s that? Did you lose a drinking contest or something?” Morinaga certainly had his moments of naivety. He was still young, after all.

“Alone? Oh, I’m not alone. I’m here with Tatsumi-senpai. He actually knows the hostess. Or rather, he just met her and she invited him,” he explained casually, not noticing that Sano had moved a little closer to him in the process.

“Oh hardly. I drank this much so that the bastard couldn’t piss me off,” Sano replied, laughing lightly. He waved his hand vaguely before letting the tips of his fingers settle on his chest. “Spitfire and I don’t exactly have a very nice history together.” His expression hardened for a moment. “I’m going to kill him one day.

“…but that’s for another day. For now, we’re just having a nice party!” The young man cast Morinaga another warm smile, and he lifted his eyebrows slightly when the other mentioned that he was here with someone. Tatsumi-senpai… Sano turned back toward the crowd, looking around to see if he could figure out whom that was based simply on unfamiliarity.

Unfortunately, Simca the social butterfly seemed to have made a good number of new friends since her arrival in the city, and Sano couldn’t name quite a few of the people at the party. With a lazy shrug, he turned his attention back on Morinaga, raising a hand to gently cup the other’s face. “And where is this senpai of yours? It’s not very nice of him to leave someone as cute as you all alone…”

Kill him? Oh boy. Morinaga hoped that that was just the alcohol talking, and that he hadn’t landed himself next to some psychotic serial killer or something. He wasn’t sure what to say, but luckily Sano was smiling again and changing the subject on his own. They both turned to glance over the party, and Morinaga couldn’t spot Tatsumi in the large crowd of people either. Strange, but not worrisome. He knew he wouldn’t leave without him or anything like that.

“C-cute? Ah hah… he’s around here somewhere…” Morinaga froze and blushed again at the hand on his cheek, grinning a bit stupidly and rubbing the back of his neck with one pawed hand. It had been awhile since someone had hit on him, or even complimented him. It wasn’t like Tatsumi went around calling him cute or smiling at him like Sano was. Not that he minded, for he liked his senpai just the way he was. “He doesn’t exactly want to be here,” he continued. “He went to get another drink,” Morinaga explained, taking a sip of his own drink when he finished speaking and looking back at Sano with slightly widened eyes.

Sano simply watched Morinaga respond, enjoying the cute, nervous actions he took. Whoever this senpai was, it didn’t seem like he lavished his partner with many compliments. He made no further movements until the other took another sip of his drink before making his next move. “He doesn’t want to be here?” Sano asked, pulling a surprised look. “That’s just too bad~ We’re all lovely company here…”

His thumb moved from its position on the other’s cheek to run over Morinaga’s lips before Sano drew his hand away to settle in his pocket. “And maybe I should even thank him for coming and bringing you.” He laughed softly. “Are you always this adorable? Or is it just because you haven’t received attention of this sort in a while?”

Before Morinaga could respond, however, Sano moved in for the kill, lips sealed over the other’s. He stayed there for just a second before pulling away, mouth quirking into a sensuous smile. “It’s such a waste, if you ask me.” The young man winked. “I do hope this senpai of yours is taking good care of you.”

Sano Yasuyoshi had no idea how much he was going to hate himself in the morning.

Almost dropping his drink, Morinaga swallowed hard, eyes as wide as saucers now as Sano ran his fingertips across his cheek and lips. Smiling nervously, Morinaga began pressing himself slowly back against the railing behind him. His personal space bubble was definitely being invaded. Where in the hell was Tatsumi? Just as he was about to say something in reply to the remark about him being adorable, he found himself being kissed quite thoroughly. “Mmph!” was the only sound that came out, but a moment later, Sano pulled back again and smiled in a very knee-weakening way.

“A-ah, well I… you see, he… w-we…” Morinaga seemed to have forgotten how to speak coherently and merely stood there sputtering. He was saved only by the appearance of the hostess herself, who seemed to have popped up randomly out of nowhere beside them.

“Sano darling,” Simca grinned mischievously, looping one arm through his. “Did I just see you kissing this cute puppy right here?” she asked coyly, already knowing the answer but asking anyways. She had noticed him from across the room a few minutes before, very obviously flirting with the man in front of them, and had only been slightly surprised to see them kissing. It wasn’t like Simca was unfamiliar with the attributes that made a man noticeably gay, after all.

Sano was simply enjoying the flustered Morinaga’s company and was admittedly a little surprised when Simca appeared at his side, her arm around his. He glanced down at the girl before laughing. “I believe that correct, Simca,” he answered, winking as he finished his sentence. “Isn’t he cute?”

Turning his attention back to the frazzled fellow, he reached over with his free hand and tugged on one of his floppy ears. “His senpai left him here all alone, so you can’t really blame me for wanting to pay him a little attention.” Sano looked back at Simca, quirking an eyebrow in the process. “Who is that Tatsumi fellow anyways? I’ve never heard of you speak of him before.

“And he sure is taking a long time to get a drink… He musn’t care too much about poor Morinaga here~” His hand moved from the ear back to the other’s cheek. “I think I could take better care of him. What do you think, Simca?”

“Ooooh! That’s who you are!” Simca looked at poor flustered Morinaga and laughed brightly. “You came with Tatsumi. I just met him the other day,” she explained, glancing back up at Sano and nodding. “He’s rather surly and sounded very grumpy, so I invited him so he could have the chance to kick back and relax,” she beamed, sticking her hand out for Morinaga to shake. “I’m Simca. Pleasure to meet you…?”

“Morinaga. Thanks for inviting us,” he replied nervously, shaking her hand rather tightly and giving her a look that read “Please help!” Simca merely giggled in amusement. She was really the wrong person to be asking for help. When it came to flirting, she had no boundaries. She hardly cared if the boy had a girlfriend or not. Except in special cases, anyway. Besides, she was entirely amused with Sano’s behavior, and was pretty sure that if not for the copious amounts of alcohol he must have had, he wouldn’t be quite this flirtatious.

“Well, don’t get in a fight or anything,” she warned Sano teasingly. “If he has a boyfriend, I don’t want any bloodshed at the party,” she winked. “And don’t do anything you’ll regret in the morning. Or try, anyways,” she laughed again, going up on her tiptoes to press a kiss on Sano’s cheek. “I’m going to dance with Spitfire. Nice to meet you, Morinaga,” she waved sweetly and off she went again, always on the move.

Crap. Some help she had been. Morinaga was alone with Sano again, who still had his hand on his cheek. Where. Was. Tatsumi?!

Sano smiled as he waved Simca off, chuckling softly as she made her way back into the crowd. Once he could no longer spot her among the masses, he turned his attention back to Morinaga, lips curving into a wicked smile. The hand left the other’s cheek finally, but the situation probably didn’t improve much for Morinaga, as the hand quickly went to settle in the small of his back.

“Now then. Where were we?” he murmured, eyes sliding halfway shut. Sano further closed the distance between them as a hand went to gently grasp Morinaga’s chin. “You know, a surly and grumpy boyfriend can’t be good for your health. Are you sure you wouldn’t prefer someone…” Sano leaned in close, their noses nearly touching. “…more attentive?”

There was a not so quiet cough from behind him, and the young man turned around to find someone dressed up a pimp behind him. Sano released Morinaga and quirked a brow at the newcomer, his mind taking a while to swim through the alcohol and figure out how the newcomer was. “Ah~ You must be his senpai.” Sano smirked before turning back around to look at Morinaga. “Well… I suppose that’s all for tonight. I’ll talk to you later, Mo-ri-na-ga~”

He winked and blew a kiss before strolling off, mostly likely to get some more alcohol and hit on someone else. Tatsumi, arms crossed, watched the other walk off with eyes narrowed. Once Sano had disappeared into the crowd, the researcher turned to Morinaga, a scowl appearing on his face.

“Who the hell was that?”

Morinaga watched Simca walk away helplessly, his body straight and stiff as a board as Sano’s hand rested too comfortably on his back. And then… there was Tatsumi, his boyfriend and his savior. Shoulders sagging with relief, Morinaga continued watching Sano with wide eyes as he blew him a kiss and disappeared, leaving him alone with a surly looking Tatsumi, as usual. “Uh. Sano. I didn’t do anything, though. It was all him,” Morinaga shook his head, raising his hands-turned-paws up in his defense.

Dropping his arms back down, Morinaga reached for Tatsumi and pulled him into a hug, his demeanor changing from one of anxiety to one of happiness. “You took forever, senpai!” he murmured into Tatsumi’s long hair. He really wanted to kiss him, mostly for his own benefit, but even with the alcohol in his senpai’s system, he was still pretty positive that he would get abused in some way, shape or form should he attempt that in public. Instead, he let him go quickly and simply smiled.

Tatsumi let himself be hugged, counting the seconds before the other let go. “I needed a lot to drink, so it took me a while,” he muttered before raising yet another bottle of beer to his lips. “Besides, I thought you could take care of yourself for a few minutes.

“Seems like I was mistaken.” The scientist muttered under his breath, mood worsening even with all the alcohol in his system. He attempted to pull up an expression of indifference, but he couldn’t be sure of how authentic it looked. “Look. Being here isn’t improving my mood any, and that… that Sano character isn’t helping at all.”

Tatsumi cast a glance over his shoulder and spotted the other chatting up some guy – well, he thought it was a guy - in a princess costume. He turned back and made a sound of disgust. “If there’s nothing else you’d like to do here, can we please go home? It was a bad idea to come, and I feel absolutely ridiculous in this outfit.”

The researcher hmph-ed and looked away, lips forming into a pout as his eyes slid shut.

Wincing, Morinaga nodded, not really wanting to argue with a half drunk Tatsumi right now. Besides, after that previous encounter, he didn’t mind going home very much either. And senpai was going to complain about it regardless. Besides, the expression on his face was kind of funny. Morinaga didn’t really expect him to be jealous. He wasn’t sure if he saw the kiss or not, but even if he did, he doubted the other man would do much about it.

Either way, Morinaga decided that he might as well leave when he was asked rather than putting up a fight about it. “Alright, senpai. I don’t mind. If you really want to go, we can go,” he nodded calmly. Tatsumi had asked relatively nicely, after all. Morinaga smiled, this time stepping forward and kissing his cheek warmly. “Thanks for coming to my rescue,” he added, grinning a little bit more now, looking adorable in his puppy costume.

The scientist flinched at the kiss on his cheek, turning away abruptly. A blush quickly appeared on his face, and as much as he tried to hide it, it continued to grow until his entire face was pink. “YEAH, YEAH. WHATEVER. LET’S GO,” he shouted, stomping off toward the building exit. “HURRY UP, MORINAGA. I’M NOT GOING TO WAIT FOR YOU.”

Without a backward glance, he ran into the crowd, hands covering his face. That stupid assistant of his was going to be the end of him at some point. Bastard!
