Log: Incomplete
When; 3rd April
Rating; PG?
Characters; Wash
likelycrash and Zoe
warri0r_w0man
Summary; Time for a husband and wife to reunite. And what better setting that the broken remains of the ship they called home?
Log;
It was something he was both looking forward to and regretting at the same time. With the arrival of almost the entire crew into the city, Wash wouldn't been stupid not to expect that there was a chance of her turning up too.
...Zoe.
He'd been told, enough times already, about how she'd reacted. He'd died, and left her behind. Something neither of them had been planning on. But now? Now he'd been brought back, admittedly a little colder and heart beat-less? And now Zoe had been pulled into the fray too. That in itself was both good and bad news.
Good because they could be together. Good because he'd been given another chance. Good because they could hopefully sort things out.
But bad because...she'd already had to cope with him leaving. Because now she was trapped in the city. And sooner or later, she'd be forced to go through everything once again.
"Tzao-gao!" As Serenity loomed into view, Wash's stepped slowed a little, though he wasn't entirely sure why. He was looking forward to it. Of course he was. But he had no idea how Zoe was going to react.
Well, no time like the present. ...or past?

....Then a side trip to guilt for feeling that way, and finally back to a less-firm belief that this was all a dream.
Still, even in dreams, she was cautious, and kept a sensible pace as she systematically searched down the side streets between the tall apartment buildings, even though she really wanted to break and run to get through this search faster.
Still, it didn't take long to find what she was searching for ( after all, it's a little difficult to hide an entire ship).
With an audible sigh of relief, she adjusted the strap on her rifle, brushed some imaginary grit from her duster, and started marching purposefully toward Serenity.
...But soon halted entirely when she spotted a tell-tale shock of red hair, and blue hawaiian shirt, but more importantly; the man both belonged to.
A full minute of staring ( since her legs had ceased to function properly) and then a shaky step.
...Then another....one more....And Zoe was running flat out with both smile and tears on her cheeks. Neither of which anyone had seen on her in a long, long time.

The sound of approaching footsteps snapped his attention away, as Wash glanced back over toward the opening. What he saw caused the bags to fall effortlessly from his hands, the loud bang of its contents hitting the ground unheard over the sound of boots on metal. His own soon joined as he made his way down the ramp, his smile turning into a look of longing, even as his arms wrapped themselves tightly around his wife.
"...Zoe." He'd be lying if he said he hadn't missed her. He had. More than he could ever explain. Her arrival had been a shock. A welcome one, but a shock none the less. Pulling back a little, one hand moved to her cheek, thumb brushing away the tears as he forced on a gentle smile. "Told you I was real."

It didn't matter if anyone saw. Nothing mattered.
Wash was alive ,and real, and most importantly; back in her arms.
Nothing else mattered at all...
A few moments of shock and going from staring at his familiar features in awe, then hugging him tightly with whispered endearments, back to staring before Zoe collected herself somewhat and took stock of the situation.
" Have you been here the entire time?"
She lay her open palm against his cheek and frowned slightly.
" You're cold, baby." she commented with mixed concern and awe.

...not that it mattered anymore.
As for the cold part... "Guess it's just part of the whole 'walking dead' deal." Though for the most part, it hadn't really meant much to him. More, a basis to joke about around the others. A morbid one, but still a basis. Shaking his head lightly, he grinned, his hand dropping back down to her waist once more. "Hey, at least I'm not trying to eat your brains or something."
