When Hiei had asked if Kurama intended to do anything about the Red God, the kitsune had easily evaded the question by turning it instead on Hiei. There had been a time when he honestly would not have cared what the creature did so long as it did not interfere with his own plans or the lives he valued.

Kurama doubted that he would be of much help alone, but perhaps seeking out and examining the scenes of the kidnappings would yield something useful. Besides, it gave him something to focus on besides the apparitions of his human mother and the two partners he had betrayed. He had hoped that leaving the apartment might at least cause them to change the topic of conversation, but now Yomi was speaking to Shiori of the brutal killings that had helped build Kurama's reputation.
