Summary; Henry and Alessa take a walk.

She was normal. Normal. She had no powers, nothing. She was simply a normal human being...for one day. Alessa couldn't believe it, and didn't know even how to feel. All her life she had wished that she was normal like all of the other kids, that she could have a normal life, a normal family...and now she was able to experience it, if for one day. On one hand, she felt free, but on the other...a part of her felt connected to her powers. It was a part of herself, and she felt extremely vulnerable and helpless in this state. She was deliberately spending this day with Henry so as to avoid Xulchibara's burning gaze. If he saw her in this state...

Her cheeks flushed with shame. She couldn't stand the thought. It would be better just to get out and spend some time with Henry. She waited near the front door, her black shoes idly tracing the design in the lush carpet. Oh, how she wished that Henry could remember her! It took every ounce of her willpower to not throw herself into his arms and cling to him as if her life depended on it and to keep the tears from flowing every time she saw him. He had died, was dead, and now was back to life. It was the greatest gift her god could ever give to her. Despite the fact that she wished so very hard that he would remember, she knew it was their price. This was something that shouldn't have been, and the consequence was Henry not remembering a thing. She tried to console herself and tell herself that it was okay, because Henry was back and he was alive, but...

If only he could remember me, only a little bit, she thought, sighing as she heard his familiar footsteps down the hall.

Henry wished he could remember, too. Wished and dreaded it. If he remembered everything that happened, would he still be 'him' anymore? Or would he be someone else- this person that they all seem to know, the one he doesn't understand at all?

He was terrified by these people, but at the same time...he couldn't leave. He should be physically able to, but couldn't make himself do it. And hearing that Alessa was so hurt- well, he had to make sure she was going to be okay.

When he sees her in the hallway, his mouth twitches up in what could be a smile. It was hard to tell with him- ever since he'd come back, he'd been practically expressionless. He nervously straightens the collar of his shirt. "Are you really going to be all right, Alessa...?" Losing her powers seemed to bother her an awful lot.

It wasn't really a smile, but she couldn't blame him for not trying his best. The smile she gave him was sincere, hopeful, even. "I'll be all right," she reassured him. "It's only for one day, and this might be the only time I will ever get to feel what it is to be normal. Come on."

She linked her arm with his and led him out the door to the manor grounds. She did not dare leave the border between their territory and the open forest, knowing all too well about what would happen if they did. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, but there was always that uncharacteristic fog. It swirled around their ankles as they walked through the grass, keeping close to the manor.

"We haven't really got to talk much," she started. She wanted to see how much he could remember, so that she would know where exactly to start.

He dropped his gaze to the ground again with that last comment. It had been odd enough, linking arms- he wasn't used to touching people. Which wasn't to say he didn't care for it, he'd just never had the chance. And whenever he'd remember something like that, it always confused him- why remember that, and nothing else? It was frustrating.

"I...uh, I've been trying to stay out of the way. I don't really know a lot about...any of it, really. I know what happened to you...." He closed his eyes and sighed, then opened them again. No one should've had to live through that. "That's about it. So I...I let you all have some time. I know I'm not who you wanted, not really....I'm sorry about that."

"No need to apologize, Henry," she said, giving him her best smile. "You're exactly who we wanted. You may not remember everything, but that's why I'm going to try to help you remember....but only bits and pieces, and we're going to take this very slow. I don't want you to get scared or too confused, and those headaches of yours could make things worse."

She wanted to add "but only if you want to", but a part of her was afraid that Henry didn't want to remember. That he would much rather cling to his pleasant memories of Silent Hill, and of his strange encounters with Walter Sullivan and what happened in room 302. That he would much rather love the memory of Eileen than love her again. But no, she wouldn't let that happen, because she had chose him, just as Xulchibara had chosen Rangiku. He was her Serpent just as she was his Reed, and she wouldn't let him go ever again. If anyone tried to take him away from her again, she would not hesitate to kill them, innocent or no.

Alessa cleared her throat. "So, where should I start....?"

"I don't know..." Henry replies, trying to think of what he should ask. He doesn't even know enough to ask any questions, much less tell her where to start. He does like her smile, though- he likes it very much, and it sets him at ease. The comment that he's who they were wanting helps, too. "The headaches haven't been too bad, really..."

"Uh....maybe if you could...uh, talk about how we met, before? I don't even know that..." He smiles very slightly, and it's full of apology.

[ooc: Gah, sorry about that! My netcard died on me, and I kept trying to fix it. Eventually had to get a new one. :/ But I am back now!]

Alessa nodded, her brow furrowing as she tried to remember the first time she really met Henry. "Well, when I first came here, I was still...injured," she explained, choosing her words carefully. "You were staying in room 302, at the time, and the only real contact we had had was through the network. One of the angels had taken me from the Underground to the Cathedral, and I lived there for a time, as did you. Anyway, you had increasingly painful headaches, due to the nature of the room, and I came to you and helped you feel better. I think that was the first time we really met," she finished.

She smiled at him. "So, if you want some relief from the headaches, I can help you, if you want."
