Log;
Vash resisted the urge to pinch the bridge of his nose as he sat with his two companions for the evening at the bar. He'd spent a good portion of the day arguing with a computer and a pack of cigarettes. Literally. Arguing with them. As ridiculous as that would have sounded back home, it was horrifically commonplace to him now after nearly two months in the City. He was thankful that this was the night they had picked to go out for a while. He had to get away from those things until midnight, although he doubted he'd be able to sleep (or do other things) in his room with his laptop around ever again.

"So," he said brightly, "At least we're away from the cursed objects for a while."

The lack of nicotine was making him a bit irritable, but otherwise Wolfwood had to admit he was in good spirits. Going out to drink and getting away from annoying questions (and possible come ons) from his smokes and Vash’s computer had brightened his mood considerably. He supposed it could have been worse. At least the confessional had kept quiet.

“Yer lucky I didn’t shoot yer damn computer, Spikey. The things been runnin’ off it’s mouth at half the damn Network.”

Roy wasn't blissfully unaware of todays curse, unfortunately - in fact he had learnt a thing or two about his drinking buddies as a result of it, even if he'd had to cope with the torture of his household objects reminding him of just how alone he was. He leant forward slightly to listen to Vash and Wolfie's conversation, laughing slightly.

"I've heard alsorts of things I had no idea were going on thanks to this curse." He laughed, shooting a smirk to the other two.

Wolfwood scowled at Roy, not terribly amused that his sex life had just been thrown out all over the Network. As if last night’s mess wasn’t enough… Maybe he needed to find someone who could put some kind of blocker on Vash’s computer against the words ‘sexy,’ ‘cute,’ and anything else that would be self-incriminating and damaging to his health.

“Don’t even talk about that. Hell, don’t talk about past curses at all. Had my full share o’ it te night ‘fore.”

[identity profile] flameroy.livejournal.com 2007-06-03 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Roy couldn't help his reaction to Vash's comment, and actually laughed into his drink, setting it down sharpish and dipping his head. It was when he looked up to Wolfwood's scowl, and thought about what he'd said that he realised how awful it must have been for him. He shook the questions about voice posting and curses from his head and sighed, curling his fingertips around his glass.

"Sorry Wolfie. It came as a shock really, but I'm sure there's plenty else we could talk about..." He just hoped they wouldn't bring up any tender topics so early during the night

He caught the small smile on Vash’s lips, no doubt guessing what he was thinking about. He was tempted to kick his shins, but he supposed that would be going a little far since he’d kept quiet about it. And besides, he guessed the curses weren’t that bad, if they got him to smile. The guy didn’t do it nearly enough, that was for sure.

“Guess so.” He remarked as he took a gulp from his glass. Okay, so he’d promised not to get rip-roaring drunk, but pleasantly buzzed would be nice. And if they were going to talk about dogs, he figured he might as well. Jasmine’s pup was the only thing that came to mind whenever anyone mentioned canines and he didn’t like thinking about that, at all.

Okay, they had stopped talking about curses, and past curses for Vash and Wolfwood's benefit, and now that the topic had turned to dogs, he felt almost like maybe they should drop that subject for his benefit too? Mind you, at this rate, they'd end up with nothing to talk about at all... He'd just have to face up to it, and forget.

"Oh, Yes a dog. I had a small black dog in mind, actually. Although I'm not entirely sure it's the best option for me. So, I wondered whether I ought to get a cat instead, apparently they wander around a lot... Black dogs remind me of things I don't want to be reminded of, really. I guess it would make sense to avoid them.." He blinked into space, turning back to look at the others with a faked smile.

Wolfwood, however, wasn’t one for being known to beat around the bush. Hell, he didn’t even know there was a damn bush, half the time. “That person ya miss had a dog?” He asked with a raised eyebrow, almost wishing he had a cigarette to smoke. But then it probably would’ve started chiding him for being impolite, or something along those lines.

The look he gave Vash was a withering one, even if the statement was true. “Don’t that make ya the mom, then?” He teased back, instead of going with his initial reaction to smack him upside the head.

"Perhaps a cat is what I need then... I could keep it in the apartment, buy it plenty of toys..." He mused for a while, until Vash had finished, and Wolfwood had said what he needed to. Although, he seriously felt that he'd have to be a lot more drunk than this to talk about her. A hand thread into his hair, as he tipped the rest of his half-empty glass down his neck, setting it down once it was empty and sliding it forward.

Thankfully, Vash and Wolfwood were bantering about their cat, Sasha, perhaps he had been rescued?

"I don't want to know about you two playing Mums and Dads thanks." He laughed, almost genuienly.

He shot him a ‘what?!’ look, slightly bewildered. It was obvious the guy wanted to talk about it, why not just go ahead and bring it up? “Cats are better than dogs, anyway.” He muttered to Roy, still eyeing Vash in confusion.

“We ain’t playin’ anythin’.” He insisted, hand running through his messy mop of black hair before glaring at Vash. “Which means yer the mom.”

He sighed for the millionth time that evening, waiting for his glass to be refilled before pulling it back towards him, his hands immediately curling round the tumbler.

"You know, I don't think a cat or a dog will make me feel right, here." he muttered, pursing his lips momentarily. "One of my subordinates, Lieutenant Hawkeye had a small black dog. She named it Black Hayate." he stopped for a moment, thinking these kinds of things was bad enough as it was, but actually talking about them would be awful.

He was supposed to be a tough guy with his life sorted out, dating women until he found the right one. Not hung up on one of his old subordinates.

[identity profile] nico-oniichan.livejournal.com 2007-06-03 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
“People usually show up pretty quick, anyway.” He chipped in, uncertain what the hell he should be saying. Making people feel better wasn’t his area of expertise. Hell, he’d go pretty far to say he was pretty damn awful at it, most of them time. “She’ll probably be here, soon.”

[identity profile] flameroy.livejournal.com 2007-06-03 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
His hands left his glass, and he propped his head up in them.

"I was about to return and protect Central from the attacks, I'd prepared myself mentally to see everyone again. I think those two years on my own have really changed me. Things like this never used to make me think so much, now I can't stop thinking about them."

[identity profile] nico-oniichan.livejournal.com 2007-06-04 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Sign of growth, huh? He thought otherwise, but that wasn’t really surprising. They rarely agreed on anything that got Vash getting all philosophical and thoughtful. Plus that whole optimism thing? Not his style. Wolfwood looked at things from a realist’s perspective, or at least that’s what he liked to call it. The only time he’d bought into Vash’s talk was… Better not to think about that. There was enough baggage in the bar as it is, and he hardly had any desire to come clean about his.

“Two years is a long time ta be away from home.” He said quietly, the statement followed by another gulp of his beer. God, how he would’ve killed for a cigarette. “Ya might be able ta find a way outta here. Ta get back, I mean.”

[identity profile] flameroy.livejournal.com 2007-06-04 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
He found himself looking at Vash in a different light. Perhaps this sudden turn of emotions wasn't uncommon among people? There was obviously a lot more to him than met the eye.

"I think you've got a point there..." He mumbled, mostly to himself, trying to think about the statement. Thing was, he couldn't quite take hold of the theory and apply it. He was alone here, without anyway of reaching anyone he wanted to reach. At least before they were always there to return when he grew up enough to face them. He leant on his arm a little more, frowning at Wolfwood slightly.

"Right now, all I want is the chance to say sorry that I abandoned them, I was too obsessed with my own past."

[identity profile] nico-oniichan.livejournal.com 2007-06-04 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
He pointedly ignored the frown, running a hand through his messy bangs before glancing back over at Roy. “They’ll fergive ya, if ya really are sorry.” He said with a certainty he rarely felt, nodding. “Ya were comin’ back fer ‘em, right? That’s all that matters.” If they really cared, they’d forgive and forget. Hell, they’d probably act like the guy hadn’t been missing for two years at all.

[identity profile] flameroy.livejournal.com 2007-06-04 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"I hope you're right, both of you. I've just got to try to stop thinking about everyone. When they arrive, I'm sure i'll be one of the first to notice, and I can't do anything until then." Yep, it made complete sense when he thought about it that way, but it still didn't stop the burning in his head when he thought about her

"I just hope I haven't changed too much. Fullmetal says I'm still a bastard to him, so I can't have changed that much." He laughed lightly, lifting his glass and reaching towards the other two slightly.

"Here's to hoping they arrive soon?"
