Log;

Tick-tock, tick-tock.

The ticking was ignored as Mikami closed his laptop. The words echoed in his head. God wanted to meet him. This was even better than what he had imagined. He only wanted instructions, words, a direction. Never did he imagine that he would meet up with his God.

He was a little disappointed that his God denied him the freedom to eliminate the unworthy in this place, but one does not question Him. This was not their world; therefore it would be futile to change it, though it was very tempting. But Kira’s orders are absolute.

Placing the laptop and Death Note into his briefcase, the brunette made his way towards the venue that Kira has specified. It did not take him too long to find the place with some directions and took the time spent walking to the place to arrange his thoughts. It would not do to

He looked at the exterior of the Raven and eyebrows knitted in disapproval. He was not even inside the club, and he could already smell the stale beer and cigarette smoke. But it suited their purposes just fine.

It would not look out of a place for two people to meet up and have a drink, and the music would probably be too loud for anyone to eavesdrop into their conversation.

Heading down the stairs, the swell of loud music was something that Light was already used to - it drowned out the infernal ticking, which made him feel a lot better and allowed him to forget about the fact that the one thing that should have a rhythm was no more, still and silent in his chest.

(Sometimes he wondered, if someone were to rip his heart out, will he still be alive to see it?)

Moving easily through the mass of people and vampires, giving a polite nod and smile to the passing staff; Light's eyes scanned around for any sign of the dark-haired man. Hm, there was no sign of him. Pushing the exit door open, he stepped outside, looking around for a moment before he caught sight of Mikami. He didn't look like he approved of this very much, but it had to do.

Absently smoothing out the cuffs of his black dress-shirt, he headed over to the lawyer. "Mikami Teru?"

Light, of course, did not miss the look in his eyes, and mused that the most useful pawns were ones who were willing to devote themselves to him. Barring Mikami's freakout before, Light knew that the other man's devotion can be honed, sharpened to the point where Mikami would die for him without question.

Returning the smile, Light remarked - more for the benefit of whoever may be eavesdropping; one could never be too careful, after all. "I hope the way here isn't too inconvenient. It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Mikami."

It was nice and simple, the playacting, and Light knew that Mikami would be shrewd enough to play along even as he gestured back at the Raven amiably, his stance relaxed. "Shall we head in for a drink, then? It's one of the most remarkable nightspots in the City."

Mikami was definitely smart enough to pick up on what Light had been trying to do. Good, it was just as he'd expected. With enough proper guidance and training, Mikami would be the perfect stand-in.

Pleasantly, Light guided him further into the club, past a knot of vampires and straight towards the stairs. Walls had ears even through the pounding bass of the music, and Light didn't know if some of these vampires were affiliated with L in some way. "That's true, it makes this City seem a little less strange, doesn't it?"

A pause, then he glanced back at Mikami. "Don't worry, I'll give you more information on this City; it's something that every newcomer needs to know, after all."

Going to the back of the club and through a door, Light moved up the stairs, the bass muted; providing them with a certain measure of quietness even as he crossed the corridor.

The staff would all be out for the night, since tonight's business was proving to be rather brisk.

In the relative silence, Light's mask fell away as he looked back at Mikami, his voice laced with quiet command. "This City plays by entirely different games than what you were probably used to back in our world. There are people here who know of me, and who want to stop what I'm setting out to do. But first..."

He stopped in front of his door and slid a key into the knob before opening it, revealing an elegantly furnished suite of sorts. "Come in. You will be staying here for awhile."
