Log:

Kurama didn't feel him until just before the bomb went off. The explosion was well-designed--containing just enough force to incapacitate Kurama without causing significant damage--and left him unconscious on the forest floor. When he woke, it was to find himself bound hand and foot with braids of sharp-edged wire, suspended by his wrists from a sturdy tree limb. His youki had been sealed, and the wards burned when he attempted to push past them.

The agent of his confinement was waiting patiently a few meters away, as confident as he had been when they'd first met on Hanging Neck Island, and even more in control of the situation. Karasu had hoped the fox wouldn't be out long, and he hadn't been disappointed. "Still as beautiful as always," he remarked. "You already know what I intend to do to you, and I should hope you've realized by now that you won't be leaving, so let's skip the small talk and the death threats. We have better ways to spend our time together."

"You're assuming the worst that will happen to you for this is dying?" Kurama retorted, showing no sign of the fear he felt. Without access to his youkai abilities, he was unable to free himself. There were no locks to pick, and no knots to be undone. Whatever the crow chose to do, Kurama could not fight him.

Karasu didn't answer. He merely triggered the next bomb, and closed his eyes in rapture as Kurama screamed.

At some point, Kurama lost track of the explosions and the claw marks. He lost track of how many times Karasu's hands had run across wounded skin. The others, he was certain, would notice his absence. Someone would sense the energy that Karasu expended with each manifestation of his power. The question was whether Kurama would still be alive by the time they reached him. He didn't want to die here, and he didn't want to die at Karasu's hands, helpless, like one of his mortal cousins being skinned for fur. His head swam from fatgiue, bloodloss and pain; it was difficult to keep his feet.

Kurama endeavored to pull himself upright, but Karasu detonated another bomb--fourth in an unbroken series. The fox was unable to stifle a cry as bones gave way to the force of the explosion. He fell against his restraints, his broken leg no longer strong enough to support his weight. Wire cut deeper into flesh as blood ran in thick rivulets down his skin and soaked into his torn clothes. Soon, there wouldn't be enough left for even a youkai to live on.

Karasu smirked--when had he discarded the mask--and caught Kurama's face between his hands, forcing a kiss on the weakly struggling kitsune. "I promised during our first match that I would reward you," he whispered when he drew away to meet his victim's eyes. "You're beautiful like this, so this is how I will leave you. Be grateful for that." Clawed fingers slipped into Kurama's hair and tugged against the knots and clotted blood, forcing his head back so Karasu could scrape the nails of his free hand over Kurama's throat. "Remember. You can't kill me. I'm already dead." He smiled as he abruptly plunged his claws into the kitsune's belly, tearing deeply before pulling them free. "Until next time, Kurama," he said before he disappeared into the trees.

[OOC: YYH folks might notice that Kurama is late coming home and Karasu's youki is in the City. Others are welcome to feel Karasu's youki as well, see him leaving the forest, hear something, etc. All I ask is that the YYH crew please be given first crack at reaching Kurama (they've been waiting ever so patiently for tonight). Thank you! <3!]
