Summary; Old habits die hard. Dark and Satoshi have a one-on-one chat, thief to cop.

Dark opened the door to his old apartment and slipped in quietly. He glanced around, checking the rooms quickly. No one home. Excellent.

He moved to Daisuke's old room, now supposedly Riku's, and checked the windows and the fire escape. Thirteen floors of ladders and stairs down. Not exactly the quickest way out of a possible hot spot.

Satoshi Hiwatari let himself into Daisuke's apartment, as he was invited inside if he didn't have any place to stay. He preferred not to stay with strangers.

He looked around. Not too bad. He had himself a look around the place. He wasn't being nosy...he was just looking around his temporary home to learn where things were. And he was also looking for evidence of the Phantom Thief that he knew resided inside of his friend Daisuke Niwa. He opened the door to one of the rooms and to his surprise, saw the thief standing there.

"Kaitou Dark..." he growled out after the intial shock subsided.

Dark stiffened and looked up at Satoshi, having wondered who had called him by his legendary title, Phantom Thief. He relaxed though, as he saw the cop glaring at him.

"Satoshi Hikari," he smiled.

This was going to be fun.

His eyes narrowed at the silly grin on the Thief's face. Only he would know his true name...

Well, this explains something. He caught Dark in Daisuke's apartment. Conclusive evidence that Daisuke Niwa was in fact, Dark.

Smirking to himself, he folded his arms across his chest as he said, "So I was right about Niwa."

"Pft," Dark waved a hand dismissively. "All your research, all your evidence points to Daisuke. All yours."

He glanced at the cop. "Once you come to a conclusion, you're so set on it. No flexibility, no improvisation whatsoever. That's the problem with you cops: when you want to catch a thief, you have to be better than him."

Satoshi narrowed his eyes at the Phantom Thief. However, Dark made him realize something: there was nothing he could do here. There was no police nor jail that he knew of, plus the crimes that he had committed in their world no longer applied here. He clenched his fists in anger.

"When we catch a thief doesn't that mean we've already won? Why try and be better when we've already caught them, Kaitou Dark? I know you're using Niwa's body right now..."

Just for now, he would play Dark's little game. Besides, it's not like Satoshi had a place to put Dark if he did physically capture him. When Dark realized Satoshi's dilemma, he'd start messing around with the teen, knowing there was nothing he could do about it. This thought sent Satoshi up a wall.

Dark looked at him, surprised. "You caught me? You haven't even cornered me! I could easily jump through the window and fly away..."

"But that's not the point, I'm guessing. You still believe I'm just using Daisuke as a host. Please. I have my own room. Down the hall, room 1301." He waved his hand in that direction.

"Besides, I sometimes have to entertain some friends, and you and Riku are not exactly the best roommate material. It seriously helps to have a room to yourself."

Dark was talking to Satoshi as though they were high school students who just didn't like each other, rather than as thief to cop.

When he heard Dark claim that he wasn't using Daisuke as a host body, his eyes widened. "What?! You...You've separated...?" he asked, incredulous.

He didn't let the stab at his pride get to him though as he was told he's not good roommate material. He waited for the Thief to respond.

Dark smiled mockingly at the young cop, "Close. You forgot one thing."

He leaned in closely and said in a stage whisper, "We've always been separate."

"Me and Daisuke, we're two different people. It just helps that his family has always been great friends of mine."

Impossible! thought the teen as he stepped back away from the thief who happened to be invading his personal space. Every time Dark was off on one of his heists, Niwa was nowhere to be found! How can henotbe Dark?!

"...Niwa's...family?"

"Sure! They're great people. Daisuke's mom seems to be obsessed with me though..." Dark trailed off, scratching his head. "I mean, whenever I'm in town, we catch up on the years. It's a pity; I should probably stop by more often."

"But you know me. I can't ever settle down. Too big of a wanderer with too much time on my hands."
