Log;

It'd been a very long day for Sylar, although he wasn't sure the fight at Kirby Plaza should count, at this point. Who knows how long he was down in that storm drain., after all? It mattered little, here. He just knew he was bleeding out, and he could only telekinetically hold his wounds together for so long. Eventually he would have to sleep.

Luckily, the people here seemed very helpful.

Sylar slumped on the park bench he was sitting on; he knew he looked positively wretched. The katana had gone clean through his midsection, giving him two wounds to deal with, and a whole mess of internal bleeding. He felt weak, weaker than he had in a long while. Too much of his blood was outside him, splattered across the black hoodie and trenchcoat, smeared across his face. He needed help-- and then maybe he could gain a new ability. It would be nice to not have to worry about this in the future.

Vaguely, in the back of his mind, he wondered if he'd even be able to take some of these people's abilities. They worked so differently than he'd ever seen before. Well, he'd deal with that when the time came- he was certain he could figure it out.

He waited for Archer, staring at the water spray of the fountain with a blank look on his face.

Archer leapt from one rooftop to the next. The streets were too crowded an indirect of a route to take and if the man on the network was seriously wounded, every second counted.

Heavy boots landed on the ground with a thud as Archer crouched down, absorbing the landing with his whole body. He could see the fountain from here and the buildings had thinned out enough that he needed to walk.

There was no doubt about who it was that he was supposed to heal. The man was sitting on a bench and looked like he was about to die at any moment. It was amazing that he wasn't already dead.

"Show me the wound," Archer said as he approached the man, not wasting any time. Steel grey eyes stared intently at the wound in the man's stomach, visible even behind his hand. The cut looked clean, which was good, easier for him to repair. For not the first time since coming to the City Archer was glad that his armor and coat didn't stain with blood. It was going to be messy.

"You should be dead," Archer said as he looked at the wound. There should be more blood, a lot more. It really wasn't all that surprising though, considering the types of people that ended up here. It might make healing the man a bit trickier, but it could be done.

"But, yes, I can fix it," he added. "I'll need you to stand up and take your shirt off though. And if you naturally have any organs in the wrong place you should tell me now. I'm going to put everything back together as if you were a normal human. I will use your own tissue so it will be a genetic match and there is no fear of rejection, but I'm going to put it all back where I know it goes."

The last thing Archer wanted to do was rearrange this man back together and find out his liver was on the other side of his body. In the City you could never be too careful.

He watched as the man began to remove his layers of clothing, trying not to think about what the movement was doing to the wound. Archer would have just cut the clothing away, but suddenly causing a knife to appear in his hand might startle the man. Just when he was at the point to offer a helping hand with getting the shirt off, the man used some sort of magic to cause the shirt to lift of. He cocked an eyebrow inquisitively but didn't say anything.

"Not exactly regrow," Archer said. "I'm going to rebuild the ones you have so that they are all back together. It's not true healing, I can merely alter things on a subatomic level. In my world it is called Tracing, a more common term is alchemy. Now long still..."

Archer activated his magic circuits and began to knit the man's flesh back together. Rearranging living tissue was not an easy thing, even with magic, but years of practice and a thorough knowledge of human anatomy allowed Archer to do it. His brow furrowed in concentration as he worked, not bothering to speak. When he was done though, the only trace of the wound was the dried blood smeared around the area.

"There, how does that feel?" he asked.

"You're welcome," Archer said with a nod. The man seemed almost transformed from the nearly pitiable state he was in early. It was a relief for him, he was worried that the man might not make it, despite his efforts.

"You were bleeding internally quite a bit," he explained. "I used as much of that blood as I could, becasue it's already a genetic match and to eliminate the danger of the bleeding. After that I merely used the molecules in the air around us. Had you needed anything more, such as a limb replaced, I would have had to use the mass of something more dense."

Archer rather enjoyed explaining things like this to people. He remembered his conversation a few days ago with Winry and their discussion of metalergy and nervous systems. The Servant hadn't realized how pleasant talking about things like that could be when it wasn't all centered around death or destruction.

"I cannot guarantee that I got all of the infection, so I suggest you find antibiotics to take for a few weeks just in case."

Archer watched as the man’s clothes picked themselves up off the ground and settle back on him. Telekinesis was not something that he had seen in the City before. Even in his world, where magic was possible, he had not seen something like that. Only in his pocket reality did Archer have an ability like that.

“Unfortunately it is an ability that is specific to my world,” Archer said. “Or at least my version of it. It requires something called a Magic Circuit to do, which are innate… abilities that people have. In my world more magic than this is possible, but I lack the proper Circuits.”

The man’s curios nature was refreshing to Archer. All too often new residents of the City were belligerent and demanding in their desire for knowledge.

“I know that others in the City have similar abilities that might not require these inborn talents though,” he said. “There is also a woman that sells Runes, which can grant extraordinary abilities to people. If you would like, I can give you her network ID sometime, Mr…?”

"You're welcome Mr. Sylar," he said. The man's smile was awkward and almost... naive. It reminded him of the smile of a young man he had known long ago. Such a stupid boy that had been.

"And please, just call me Archer," he told the man. He found it odd that Gabriel had to ask, since he had already called him Archer once, but it was understandable. It sounded more like a title or a psuedonym than a proper name. Of course, it had really only been a title at one point...

"And the questions are quite understandable, the City is a strange place. I don't mind answering your question," Archer replied. He was glad for someone to talk to, most people were put off by his stand offish manner.

"But no, my ability is the only transmutation type. The others deal with manipulating energies and the like. As for the Runes, I'm not sure how they work, only that anyone can use them, regardless of the world they are from and the effects are permanent. They grant you immunity to poisions, increased damange when attacking, things like that."

[identity profile] fireismyblood.livejournal.com 2007-08-01 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, they sell them," Archer said, nodding. "Although not like you think. Money here is worthless. You can pay for food and clothing with the rocks from the ground. I have not attempted to purchase any Runes, but imagine they would cost something in the way of a favor. Those are the true currency of the City."

It was true, if you wanted anything of value, you had to be willing to gives something in exchance, whether it be something only you could create, or your very life. Archer had little to do with the more petty dealings of the City so he didn't know what sort of things people were trading for today. He preferred to just spend his time with Hotaru.

"And it was good to meet you as well Mr. Sylar, I'm glad that I found you before you died. And it's wise not trust anyone until you know more about them. I suppose if you were dying though, you are in a unique position not to care all that much. Do you need help with anything else?"

Archer nodded, understanding that Gabriel might not want to impose on someone further who had just saved his life. Archer made a mental note to look out for the man on the network and make sure that he had everything that he needed. Before he could leave though, the man had one last request.

"No, there are no inns," Archer told him. "And there is no way back to New York City. You are trapped here until the City either lets you go or you are one of the very, very few who finds a way out."

He knew that the man probably wouldn't believe him, he hadn't believed it himself at first. After a while though, everyone came to realize it.

"As for a place to stay, you can move into any of the empty apartments."

[identity profile] fireismyblood.livejournal.com 2007-08-02 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
"That would probably be best," Archer said, again nodding in agreement. For all the man's timidity, he seemed to be taking it all in stride fairly well. Of course, being able to move things around with your mind might help you feel better about any situation. And as far as Archer knew, this sort of thing happened all the time where Gabriel was from.

"And again, you are welcome, I was glad to be able to help," he added.

Normally, Archer didn't do this sort of thing, but lately he had been trying to get out more, meet more people. Help them. While he wasn't going to bend over backwards to help someone, certainly it didn't cost him much to help this man and he had likely saved his life.

"If there is anything else I can help with, please let me know," Archer told him.
