Log; Ongoing 1 of 2
When; August 8th, Wednesday Night
Rating; PG--Rating may change?
Characters; Sultana Ananova
crete_goddess and Morpheus
1st_dream_king
Summary; After near two months of worry, Morpheus reappears to Ananova outside her dreams. A tearful reunion is at hand.
Log;
It hadn't been a particularly long day. In fact, it had been quite slow. Ananova and Jolly had spent it reading books, and enjoying the silence. Spending the rest of the day with Vash, and seeing to Nyuu and Mr. Wolfwood. Since Miria left, she had found little need to travel to the gardens of the city, but this afternoon's walk was rather peaceful, if not sad...Ananova had lost many friends coming and going from the City. Glinda, Anita, Elphaba..Miria...
..And now, she feared of losing another. Someone who had so very quickly entered her heart. Morpheus. The King of Dreams.
It was with these thoughts, Ananova had fallen quickly to sleep at Vash's residence, and into her dreams, her one place of true sanctuary...where a plain of night sky awaited her. Cool air, and a bright, shining moon, waning above pearly, solid clouds...she was standing on a balcony of a tower that stretched into the heavens. She was..waiting for someone...

His eyes, however, were not so much black, as the absence of color; the absence of sunlight across a sleeping world.
And like the night sky, they too shifted with silver-spangled star fields, galaxies; deep wells of memory.
Again, his clothing was rather mundane in comparison.
A solid black T-shirt, and what seemed to be simple jeans ended in bare, white feet.
Morpheus, a mix of her memory and his own preference stood , leaned against the rail of her balcony....the odd thing being that he was not standing on the balcony side of the railing. Still, it was comfortable, and natural, this mix of strange, impossible, and still oddly normal.
She seemed....lonely..lovelly...everything he remembered, and more.

She was a vision in lilac, thinly draped scarves and satins, as delicate and pristine as the petals of a flower...modest..and light. She reached for him.
Morpheus..
The name left her mind, not her mouth, yet such a sweet sound, it made her heart sing. And she smiled still, forever lost in his starfield eyes...he was so close..
I miss you...Gods, I miss you...

Starfield eyes closed briefly in enjoyment as she covered his hands with hers.
The first evening stars twinkled overhead, mirroring his starfield eyes when he opened them again.
For the first time in some time....the former dream king was content.
He had been away too long...
Thoughts/sounds...Sometimes they were the same in dreams.
She missed him?
The smile slipped a little around the edges. He had missed her certainly, but had assumed her friends and roomates had preoccupied her mind in his absence.
Apparently, this assumption was in error.
Morpheus straightened somewhat and looked at her intently. For so long the former Dreamlord had been very gaurded with himself, and his emotions. Too easy for Desire to meddle in his affairs otherwise.
This...this did not seem like it had Desire's 'scent' to it. More like something much easier explained, though rather more unsettling in some ways.
Had Ananova actually...developed an attachment to him too?
"....Don't be upset..." he 'said' softly, releasing one of her hands to brush her cheek with tentative fingrtips.
The idea that she had genuine feelings for him beyond friendship...well...it had been some time since something genuine...something deeper, and not simple infatuation had been presented to him.
One might say he held his breath...not daring to belive....much less.....hope.

As his fingers grazed her cheek, she leaned lightly towards them, a watery smile tinting her face...
"..I do try.." Before his hand could leave her skin, she trapped it gently in her own, to linger there. "...you worry me..if something had happened.."
Many scenarios had played through her mind, from mere transport, back to death, to injury where none could find him, to...unspeakable things...

He had never taken time to explain the particulars of his existence to her. Very little in the way of mortal injury or death could touch him...but time away from the Dreaming had to be balanced with time within it. In some respects it was easier, and more difficult to 'die' now than when he had been Dream.
Still, she had been worried. More than worried....
It was simple enough to step over the rail ( or was it through? So hard to tell in dreams) in order to gather her in close.
Perhaps she caught to guilt in his expression. Perhaps not.
Either way, it felt lovelly to hold her close.
....And a bit like theft considering her tears were his fault.
Morpheus' expression turned from pained guilt, to harder reslove, to distant as He held her, and reached out to the waking world. Or more specifically; the world beyond time.
"...I am sorry, Ananova." His voice was soft, and so small it could have easily been any mortals...if not for the lack of inflection. The accentless, nowhere-but-everywhere quality his voice kept.
"I should have spoken to you before I departed."

She had not wanted to cause him pain, though secretly, she was considerably mad at him...the Dream King and his disappearing acts...
And as he apologized..she smiled. He cared...he, a keeper of dreaming--more than a man--more than so much, he had humbled himself, and for -her-...and she was thankful. In awe.
"..I wish you had. And I forgive you." All that mattered was she was safe within his arms again. Such a simple thing could bring the princess such joy..perhaps she had given her heart away...

For a moment the entity, formerly Dream of the Endless stood still; the slight trailing of fingertips along the length of her spine the only perceptible movement aside from her breathing, and the gentle cross-winds of the tower in her mind.
Then, slowly ( perhaps even unaware?) Morpheus shifted his stance to look down at Ananova.
Starfield eyes studied her in silence for minutes, moments,.....lifetimes...
Eyes that had seen the dawn of creation. Eyes that had known the dreams of kings, and paupers.
Of galaxies, gods, and men alike.
Eyes that had seen them all, but held no single dream in more importance than any other.
They sparkled at her as he seemed to consider her words...and a slight quirk of white lips; a bemused sort of smile.
His pale hand rose to push a strand of wind-tugged hair from her cheek....
Then lingered to brush against her cheek.
His skin, for all it's chilled appearance, was as warm and alive as anything.
Smooth, and softer then one might expect, but so...human...all the same.
The smile turned into another expression. One harder to identify, but one mortal men had given women since time began.
A warmth that had nothing to do with fire...
In silence he leaned very slowly forward, so slowly that if she chose to lean away, she would have ample time.
Closer, and closer.....and now a breath away.
At this distance one could see that his eyes truly did hold nebulous points of light in them.
Whole galaxies condensed into two pieces of deep obsidian.
"Call me aloud, Ana." He 'said', though it was difficult to tell if he spoke aloud.
" Call me aloud, and for you....for you, I will come."
His hand cupped her cheek, and held her without holding for his pale lips to brush gently against hers.
A kiss.
A gift.
Simple and beautiful in that simplicity.

The attentive hand against her skin, gentle and heated, much like her heart...she gazed upwards at Morpheus, her dream, as their distance closed with every passing second...his eyes, those eyes that held universes, twilight and the purest black she had ever seen...beauty that truly took her breath away...
And he spoke. Ana. He called her Ana...eyes lidded, lost in heat and emotions running wild, just before a white, cool mouth touched hers, she felt herself mouth, maybe even speak..
Morpheus..
...And Ananova was utterly lost against his lips.
