Summary; finding the EVA~

Not knowing just how vast the forest is, Asuka didn't think of asking Lenny where in it the EVA would be. Bad mistake. She had been searching since morning but she wasn't giving up anytime soon. Several times now, whenever she noticed something big moving in the corner of her eyes, she ran until she deemed it safe to walk again. Whatever it was didn't seem eager to hurt her though, so it wasn't foremost in her mind.
What was foremost in her mind was the state of the EVA. Asuka had been so excited about getting the EVA back that she forgot to ask about not-so-minor details. What if the EVA was still in the mangled state like the last time she used it? But no, that's not possible, surely the deities had better sense of humour? When she finds it, the EVA would be standing majestically among the treest, just like new. She knew it.
However, even if the EVA was in a good state, was she? The last time she piloted it, her synchronization rate was so high that she could feel the trees tickling the EVA's ankle, the warmth of the mass produced EVAs' blood as they splattered on her EVA, on her. But what about now?
This day could go wrong in so many ways, and it could go right in only one way.
Her stomach grumbled furiously at not having been filled since breakfast, but she ignored it, though her legs' fatigue was harder to just brush off. Sighing annoyedly to herself, she let herself drop beside a tree, leaning her back against its bark. She needed to find the EVA before dark, she didn't bring anything but a compass. But that didn't matter! Asuka willed herself to get off the ground and stomp away again. She would find it today, definitely.
As if in answer to her, she caught a flash of light in the corner of her eyes. She whipped her head around quickly. The creatures that had followed her so far had appeared like a dark shadow, but what was this? Curiously, she pushed aside some branches so she could see through. In the distance was a shiny red surface peeking among the brown leaves. Her smile bloomed too quickly; she found it!
She ran as fast as she could towards it, stopping just beside its feet and looking dazedly up at its looming tall body. It's in perfect condition! A little hesitantly, Asuka reached out a hand to touch its feet. The metal was warm to the touch. She let out an excited shriek before embracing the EVA's massive ankle. It wasn't a dream!
Now just to prove her second speculation wrong. She let go of her embrace and looked up again, a realization dawning on her. Her face dropped quickly, "shit." Letting out a string of curses in German, she stomped over to the tallest tree she could find, climbing it and cursing all the way up. Whoever put the entry plug way up there was an idiot.
