{LOG} In progress, Elena and Naminé

When; Very late on August 5. Like, "seriously, shouldn't you be in bed?" late.
Rating; G for fluffy unofficial siblingness!
Characters; Elena ([livejournal.com profile] lady_turk) and Naminé ([livejournal.com profile] afleetingshadow)
Summary; Elena offers to keep Naminé company at her apartment, and so Naminé says yes. What results is some angst, some fluff, and some overall unofficial sibling love. Daww. (Or something. Ha, I lose at summaries.)
Log;

Just reading that Elena was going to come made Naminé feel a little better already. She paced back and forth in her apartment, her shadows scattering across the walls.

She was on edge and nervous, jumping whenever she heard thunder growling outside...or other noises she didn't want to think about.

She grabbed one of her white blankets on the bed, wrapping it around her shoulders and trying to keep a little warmer. She didn't know why it was so cool in August, but her dress was small and did little to keep her warm.

A knock at the door caught her attention, and Naminé jogged over to it, her blanket trailing behind her. She opened it up, smiling when she saw a familiar figure, half-lit by lightning.

"Elena," she said in a small voice, relief flooding her eyes. "Thank you for coming..."

As soon as Elena had recieved the okay from Namine, she had quickly gotten up and made her way to the kitchen. She didn't know what she was going to do exactly, but after having experience being the younger sister herself, she had an idea of where to start. And this was also one of the times she was very thankful for Rufus's expensive tastes.

Grabbing the tin she had been looking for, Elena hurried out of the apartment and kept up a brisk pace through the rain towards where Namine lived. It didn't take her long at all to reach her destination, even with the few things she had to take a shot or well-aimed punch at.

Knocking at the door, Elena used her free hand to brush out wet bangs from her eyes. When the younger blonde opened the door, Elena gave her a faint smile.

"It's no problem, Namine," she replied in greeting. "No one should spend a day like this alone. I just hope you have some spare towels somewhere."

"It's all right," Elena assured, stepping inside and closing the door behind her. She laid the tin she'd been carrying on the ground and brush out a few more strands of hair that had gotten into her face. It was getting long again, but she hadn't thought to cut it yet. It had been longer when she was younger and she had dealt with it then, and she could deal with it now. "A little rain's not going to hurt me. Neither are a few nasties. Besides, the exercise did me good."

"It's plenty, thank you." Nodding her thanks as well, Elena dried off some of the wetter parts of her outfit and hair. However... "Is it okay if I take off my jacket and tie? I think they're a little too wet to wear right now."

Noticing Namine glancing at the tin she'd broght, Elena explained with a small smile. "I brought some hot chocolate from my apartment. It's one of the best things to drink when the day's less than perfect."

"It'll be better than wearing them right now." Grateful for the okay, Elena started taking off the outer layers of her outfit. She laid her jacket over the chair first, then loosened her tie and placed that on top. Unstrapping her gun holster, she never went anywhere without it on, Elena took care when putting that down, checking that the safety was on on her guns. She still had a gun on her, but she didn't think it would be necessary to be fully armed at the moment.

Shaking her head, Elena followed after Namine, undoing the top few buttons of her shirt. Not enough to worry about modesty, but enough that the top part of her chest was visible. "I'm fine, but if you want, we can make some of the hot chocolate I brought. It might take your mind off the thunder," the older blonde jested slightly, having noticed the way Namine had squeaked. It was part of her job to notice these things.

Nodding her head, Elena set about exploring the kitchen, trying to find the things she'd need. While she was doing so, the blonde was running over a few things in her head.

Namine didn't like looking at guns, it seemed. She must have had some past experience with that that wasn't exactly of a plesant nature. It certainly wasn't a bad thing. Violence just didn't seem to suite Namine's nature. But if she ever did need to fight for some reason, the blonde Turk knew she wouldn't hesitate to offer her assistance.

Elena also noted how Namine tried not to flinch every time there was thunder. That trait Elena didn't spend too much time thinking about, as the reasons for that could have been numerous. But here was something Elena could help out with right now. Small talk did wonders to talk a person's mind off things.

"I hope you like the hot chocolate," Elena started, taking out a pan and putting in it a mixture of water and milk. "There are some good things about having a boss who used to the finer things in life."

"I think you're the only person who actually calls him that around here," Elena replied lightly, using the handle to stir the liquid in the pan around. She wanted it warm, not boiling.

Hearing Namine cut off in the middle of her sentance, Elena turned off the stove and faced the younger girl. "What did Zack say?" she asked curiously, tilting her head to the side a little. "If you don't mind telling me. Otherwise we can go back to talking about the mertis of chocolate." Elena had a small smile on her face to take off any pressure Namine might be feeling to answer, but she wouldn't deny her curosity about the things said about Rufus.

"I know, but everyone who knows him seems to have a tendancy to call him by other names," Elena answered with a small smirk. She'd never admit it, but the nicknames her boss got saddled with amused her.

Elena didn't even have to be skilled in reading people to know that Namine was lying to her. The girl easily showed all the signs that a child would have displayed trying to lie to their parents. Now though... How was Elena going to approach this?

Resting her hands behind her on the edge of the stove, Elena was silent as she thought about what to do. Namine was a friend and Elena thought of the younger girl as a sort of younger sister. She wouldn't be cruel and ask her outright since it seemed like she didn't like even thinking about the subject, but Elena was insatiably curious.

"Namine..." Elena began softly. "Rufus is my boss, so I know what kind of man he is. I'm only asking about what you heard because, in a way, it's part of my job." Giving herself a small push, Elena approached the younger girl. Taking the mugs out of her hands and putting them aside, Elena put a gentle hand on Namine's shoulder. "I'm not trying to make you tell me or anything, but I would like to know. If you really don't want to tell me though, I'll drop the matter right now and we can talk about something else."

It was only through training and habit that Elena didn't immediately flinch when Namine mentioned 'experiments.' That brought back some memories she'd rather forget... Still, she had the information she wanted now. There wasn't a need to torture the girl any more like this.

Giving Namine's shoulder a small squeeze, Elena flashed the girl a smile. "Rufus is a princess, and I know that just as well as anyone. You don't have to try and explain his behavior to me," she said trying to lighten the mood. Shaking her head, Elena went on, in the same kind tone she had started using at the beginning. "Zack must really trust you to have mentioned anything about that. And I want to thank you for telling me that you know of it. I won't ask any more question, okay?"

"A good friend never likes seeing their friends sad," Elena commented, agreeing with that statement. She was glad that even though she'd been the one to make Namine upset, she was also able to uplift her spirits again as well. "And Zack's an overall good person."

Smiling widely at the mention of the somewhat forgotten hot chocolate, Elena nodded. Going back to the stove, Elena picked up the pan in one hand with practice ease and swished it around, keeping the liquid mixed. "Yeah. We just have to pour it into the mugs now. It shouldn't even be too hot to drink right away, so we don't have to wait for a cool down period."
