Log: Complete

When; September 6th (Afternoon?)
Rating; PG
Characters; Mikami Teru [livejournal.com profile] anidealworld and Eve [livejournal.com profile] first_mommy
Summary; Mikami stops by the Opera House for a short visit.
Log;

She was rather surprised at Mikami's sudden intrusion during her conversation with Megumi, but it was obvious he was concerned for her health. If this the City was anything like her world, Eve would've been dead long before the Black Death curse ever took place. The fact that she was able to remain 'alive' puzzled her at times. She decided it was best not to try and figure out that mystery.

Eve sat in front of her desk, looking into the mirror. She appeared to be a normal human at first glance. The only thing odd was the vibrant color of her eyes; a beautiful shade of green, a look of pure energy coursing through them. Which made her think...

She brought a finger up to her lips as she pondered how many people had seen her other forms.

Hm, just Autor, Aya, and dearest Bane..

And now that Bane and Aya had left the city, the only one left was Autor. Would she eventually show the other opera house residents? What would their reactions be? Would they treat her as a monster? There had been several occasions where Eve slipped out information about her past. Most seemed quite shocked by it. She wondered if Mikami would be shocked as well. The thought intrigued her and she somewhat anxiously awaited for his arrival. He was such an amusing yet charming boy. There was definitely something different about him. He looked like an average high school boy.. but looks can be deceiving. &hearts Eve knew this all too well.

As soon as he heard that Eve had been ill, he had been more than a little concerned. Eve has been the first person that he had truly taken a liking to since arriving in the City. Even the fact that there was an upcoming trial that he should be concentrating on did not deter him.

He spent the day wondering what would make a suitable get-well present and found himself rather at lost. It was safe to say that Mikami did not know the first thing about visiting someone who was recuperating.

He ended up taking over a little more things over to the Opera House than he had initially intended. Some CDs, several books on Japanese theater, as well as takeaway from Café Juliet… and his Death Note. As always, Mikami felt a sense of satisfaction when he touched the note. With it, he could make the world that he longed for into reality.

A world free of injustice.

He walked in to the Opera House without much of a fuss, the residents were either familiar with him, or they just did not bother to stop him. It did not take him long to reach the room that Eve stayed at. Mikami knocked twice and waited.

[ooc; Sorry for the late reply. I got caught up in meetings today @_@]

At her reply, Mikami opened the door and stepped in to her room. As Eve has suspected, the brunette was glad to see that she was resting. “Good evening, Eve. I am glad to see that you are doing fine,” he said in a pleasant tone as he closed the door behind him. “I do hope I did not disturb your rest.”

Though Mikami is taciturn for most part, but he can be sociable when the occasion calls for it. This was one such instance. Eve was someone he enjoyed spending time with. Thoughts of the trial were pushed back as he walked up to her desk.

[ooc; I don't mind short tags as long as I can work with it~♥]

He gave her a rare smile as he placed the items he had brought along with him on the desk. "I brought you some CDs and books to keep you occupied... and I hope you do not mind quiche. I wanted to make something, but there were not enough time.”

Mikami would have told her about the upcoming trial except he did not want to bother her too often with his problems. As it is, she is recuperating and it would not do to trouble her with it.

Her admittance threw him off guard a little. Mikami has already suspected that Eve was not a normal person the first time he exchanged words with her on the network. But he was already getting used to the fact that most people brought here by the City is not an ordinary human.

“I have realized that the first time you mentioned burning people up.” He said mildly.

[identity profile] anidealworld.livejournal.com 2007-09-09 12:48 pm (UTC)(link)
“I was not sure what you liked, so I just chose something I thought you would like,” he replied, as he started setting up for tea. “Since you mentioned that you liked theatre, I thought you would be interested in books about the Japanese equivalent.”

At her words, Mikami looked up from his task. “Combustion or burning that occurs without any observable source of ignition… which means you can somehow make a subject combust without an external source.”

It was hard to believe, but in his short stay here, the prosecutor has seen many things that he thought impossible. Compared to some, Eve’s powers were easier to believe. Then again, Mikami was someone who readily believed in the powers of the Death Note and existence of Shinigami, and both are thought to be things of myth back in his world.

A meticulous man, Mikami had already considered everything before he made his way over. As Eve was not well enough to go out for tea, he would just have to bring it to her. He cut a slice of quiche and placed it on a plate before handing it to her.

“Nothing much, the City does not offer me much to do. I have been reading up on law books that I have found in the library and doing some research on the Germanicus law for the trial.” He twitched a little at the thought. If it were not for God’s request, the prosecutor would not deign to take part in this parody. Whatever Dietrich’s reasoning was, it still remained that he was playing with the sanctity of justice.

Perhaps it was just jealousy speaking.

[ooc; Sorry, I had word diarrhea ._. And don't try to match length, dearie. I am... just wordy at times;; Especially with serious characters]

The last time he studied about mitochondria was in high school. If he remembered right, every living, breathing creature has mitochondria. After all, mitochondria contains ribosomes and DNA, the two important element that made them what they are.

“An impressive ability,” he agreed. Mikami deliberated with himself once again whether to reveal the secrets of the Death Note to the woman before him. He knew for a fact the more people knew, the closer they are to being exposed, not to mention the trouble it would bring to Eve. L, Near and Mello may be able to track it down to Eve and he disliked the thought of them coming any where near her.

He poured tea for her from a flask. He would prefer if it were fresh, but Mikami was unsure of the facilities that they have in the Opera House.

“Apparently, someone has tried to poison Dietrich, a friend of my acquaintance. I am sure you have heard of Yagami Light, our current warden? When he heard that I was a prosecutor, he requested my aid.” Mikami said, summarizing the case for her. He was not prepared to tell her who Light was to him just yet, maybe a little longer. Would she think of him mad to consider another as a God?

“It was only alcohol, but Dietrich’s body system could not ingest it, so it acts like a poison. From what I know, Dietrich apparently told the defendant that alcohol would kill him, so that rules it out as a prank.”

Mikami poured a cup of tea for himself and took a sip. It still did not sit well with him that the other was going for a lighter sentence. Yes, he understood what God was getting at, but the other was at wrong. He broke the rules and Mikami felt that by giving him a light sentence, it would affect future cases. He felt his eyebrows knitting in annoyance. The prosecutor caught himself in time, not here, not now. He was spending time with someone he genuinely liked and he was not going to ruin it.

“It will be a simple case by any means. The trial at court is merely a formality… let us change the topic to something more pleasant. “How is everything been so far?”

[identity profile] anidealworld.livejournal.com 2007-09-12 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
Mikami could relate to that. Ever since he came to the City, his schedule had been messed up. He was only slowly regaining his usual rhythm in the past few weeks.

He did not see any point in trying to converse with some of the citizens here, they were either those that did not make much sense to him or those he would love to see eliminated. How his hands itched to write their names in his Death Note, but God had said not to use it on the people in the City, so Mikami did not.

“Normal human?” the prosecutor echoed, giving her a quizzical look, his tea cup brought near to his lips

[ooc; Wah;;; sorry for the lateness. Work pwned me ><]

Just to carry out her… mission? Mikami may not know much of her world or her, but he has grown rather attached through their interaction. She has been nothing but nice and understanding. It did not make sense to him that someone like her is being exploited and not given a chance to live her life as she wanted. His only outward reaction to her revelation was the furrowing of his eyebrows.

This was the reason that there was need of the Death Note. To judge people like them, those who used and hurt others, those who did not deserve a place in this world.

“I am glad that you are able to experience it here then,” Mikami said carefully, choosing his words in such a way that it did not in any way upset her or revealed his feelings on the subject matter. He was curious about her, but it was not polite to pry. “To me, the City may not be the ideal place to live in… but I will admit that it open opportunities for others.”

[ooc; :O If so, take your time. I am actually on semi-hiatus as well due to rl... which is why I haven't been spamming... but eh >.>;;; *spams you with hearts and cuddles* :D!]

That would make the both of them, he supposed. He had met his God here, and it was in the City where he met Eve and Megumi, the two people he genuinely liked of, two things that he had not thought possible. “So did I… I never thought that I would find people that I am…” Mikami tried to hunt for a suitable word. “… fond of.”

The prosecutor was not by nature a very emotional man. This was a rather foreign situation. He had never spoke or asked others for aid or advice before, but yet he did to Eve. Somehow, during the short time they spent together, he had grown to trust her to a certain extent, which is saying a lot as Mikami does not trust anyone aside from God.

“I- I have something to confess.”

The words slipped out before he could stop them.

[ooc; Inspiration is always good ♥ If you are on aim, I'll come online and poke you rightaway! XD; *at work*]

[identity profile] anidealworld.livejournal.com 2007-09-13 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
The prosecutor immediately tried thinking of ways to get out of his current situation. A confession could be anything; he could just say anything and she would be none the wiser… but he wanted to avoid lying to her unless it was absolutely necessary.

“I am not sure if you have heard of ‘Kira’ in this City… I know for a fact that people brought it once several times.” He was beating round the bush. It was not like him to hesitate after he has made up his mind. “I… have in possession, a notebook that would kill any human whose name and face I have seen.”

This was it, there was no turning back.

[identity profile] anidealworld.livejournal.com 2007-09-14 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
She did not laugh at him, or did she brush it off as a lie. Mikami was a realistic person and he knew if placed in the shoes of another, he might have brushed it off as the tall tale. He felt grateful and less hesitant. He even managed a smile at her pun. It did fit after all. Who would have imagined a prosecutor who be killing the criminals which he himself sent to prison?

“Yes, I have used it before, though I only use it to judge people back in my world. Since death escapes this City, it renders it rather useless… unless I use it to prevent others from returning to their worlds.” He filled one page of the Death Note every day without fail, writing as small as he could to maximize the page.

He sat on her question for awhile, thinking of the simplest and most straightforward way to explain it to Eve. “All you need to kill a person is their face and their name. You write the name down into the note while you picture their face in your mind. This is so you could avoid killing the wrong person with the same name.”

[identity profile] anidealworld.livejournal.com 2007-09-15 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
“It is…” All Mikami needed was a television or the internet for him to kill. He had been making use of the fountain in the City to gain the names of criminals from his world.

“Would you like a demonstration?”

Though the prosecutor doubted that his God would approve, He did not exactly order Mikami not to use the Death Note against the City’s residents. Kira’s exact orders were to kill anyone he felt suspicious. It was not as if death was permanent in the City.

[ooc; Mikami is like a child trying to show his Mother what he did in school today XP;;;]

“If you are feeling up to it, we could perhaps take a short stroll to the Underground?” There was where all those lowlifes gathered. Mikami did not like the idea of taking Eve down there, but he was not about to go eliminate someone that may or may not be innocent.

He looked at her in surprise. “You have other powers as well?” There was more to Eve than he had expected… but then again, he supposed he barely scratched the surface.
