Log: Ongoing
When; Thursday, Sept 20th
Rating; PG? PG-13?
Characters; Elizabeth Turner [
lizzieturner] and Cain Knightlord [
evilbeneath]
Summary; Cain invites Elizabeth to meet for tea after their conversation about pirates.
Log;
Elizabeth did not go out often since her pregnancy had started to become more pronounced. She was still paranoid over the City, and its whims but even she could not deny that meeting new people could be beneficial. It was rather hard to judge a man's character over the 'network' anyhow. Cain seemed like a nice enough person, but of course his eagerness to learn about pirates made her cautious.
She headed toward Cafe Juliet taking in the fresh air and nice weather the City had decided to give them. She was quite relieved not to have awoken to another curse.

Because of his enthusiasm, Cain found himself in front of Café Juliet a little earlier than their promised time. He spent the time looking at the menu and wrinkling his nose at the desserts. Thank goodness it offered fish and chips on its menu, or he would be stuck with just tea.
He spotted a familiar figure of the lady and gave her a smile, waving her over. She caught his interest yesterday with her post and Cain was overjoyed to be able to meet up with a real life pirate Captain. Though when she got nearer, her stomach caught his attention.
The Crusnik blinked. He never had the chance to see someone pregnant before. All thoughts of eyepatches, leg pegs, parrots and gold teeth fled from his mind as he stared at her stomach.
“How many months?” His manners was temporarily forgotten in his curiosity.

"I'm nearing the six-month mark," she finally answered as she took a seat across from Cain.

“My apologies~ I was merely surprised to see someone pregnant.” Cain went on cheerfully. “This would be my first time! I have only read about it in books before.” He spoke to her as if she was someone he was familiar with.
He handed her the menu. “Order as many things as you like. It is my treat~”

She took the offered menu still feeling a bit wary but she managed a smile nonetheless. "Thank you...pardon me for asking but how is it that you have never encountered a pregnant woman before?"

It was the truth, after all, he had nothing to gain from lying to her. Then again, he preferred to spin his stories around the truth. Cain did not provide any further elaborations. “Six months… which mean you have about another three more months to go! Has it started kicking yet?”

If the table did not separate them, Cain would probably have placed a hand on her stomach. “Him? You already know the gender of the baby?”
He switched his attention and waved the nearby waiter to come by. “I will have tea and a platter of fish and chips… and the lady will try all your desserts, as long as they do not contain any chocolate.” The blond ordered on Elizabeth’s behalf.

"Yes, I had the fortune to see a bit of the future on a curse day and I saw that I would have a son." It was probably just as well that he couldn't touch her stomach. Elizabeth was not the type who liked her space invaded so easily. Besides what was with people thinking it was okay to touch a perfect stranger's belly as if it were a community belly?
Elizabeth looked absolutely started as Cain ordered for her. She was pregnant not feeding a small country. "...A hot cup of Earl Grey tea please," she added before the waiter left. "That really wasn't necessary, I do not eat that much." She said to Cain looking partly confused and partly amused.

One might say that the blond was a little over-friendly at times, but the fact stands Cain did not really understand social norms and personal space, or if he did, he ignored it.
“It gives a chance for you to try every dessert they have,” he said, waving it off. It was wasteful, but when has that ever been a concern to the Crusnik? Cain always did what he liked, no one had ever said no to him.
“You can make it up by telling me more about pirates~ I have read about them, but I have never seen one up close before.”

She leaned back in her seat waiting to hear Cain's questions, her hand lightly resting in the swell of her belly.

“What is it like to be one? Do you actually make people walk off the plank?” Cain was curious as to how a female would be able to make it as a pirate, much the least a Captain. He had read about female pirates and knew they existed, but he also knew that females were considered ‘bad luck’ aboard a ship.

Many sailors still firmly believed that Elizabeth was 'bad luck', but she had earned their respect by facing Davy Jones and the East India Trading Company in battle.

A movement at the corner of his eyes distracted him. “Ah, here comes our tea,” he said to no one in particular.

"I was made a captain when another captain was mortally wounded and needed a successor. He chose me thinking I was the embodiment of a goddess. However I earned the respect of the crew through my actions against Davy Jones and the British Royal Navy," she added.
Elizabeth reflected moment as the waiter sat a cup of tea in front of her. "What I lack in physical strength I make up for in skill and intelligence. I've killed enough men for my crew to know that I mean business."

“Being a pirate sounds like a great occupation. I wonder if I could be a Pirate King?”He dropped several slices of lemon into his tea and stirred, foregoing sugar. Cain wondered if he told her the last part to gauge his reaction to it. “Were you afraid when you first killed?” he said, looking up.
[ooc; Sorry for the late reply, dear;; I was over my head in work yesterday >,<]

"Honestly things were going so fast that I do not remember what was going through my head. I was fighting for my survival at the time; so some fear was present but I was feeling more determined to live then anything else."
[ooc; No worries. <3]

It all boils down to the determination to survive. To continue living, one needs to make the choice. Whose life is more important? What are you willing to do to continue on?
“No wonder you manage to make it as a Captain~ I heard that even Captains are sometime toppled if the crew is not satisfied.”
