Summary; November 11 finds out he's not the only Contractor in the City.
Log;

He hadn't expected to be able to feel the sun again. In fact, he knew that he wouldn't be able to. So when he actually opened his eyes, woke up in this odd place..

..it was somewhat refreshing. A nice feeling, even. Second chances were few and far between. It wouldn't be reasonable if he wasted it.

He could definitely get used to this.

November raised a hand against the sun as he moved, seeking out a shaded bench and sitting back. It felt good to be alive again, even if he'd noticed some.. differences. The last of a heartbeat, for one. It was a little unnerving, but he found that it would be easy enough to get used to. Misaki wouldn't have to know about it, either.

Speaking of Misaki... He thought about it, taking stock in his mind. It seemed that there were only three people from their world here: Misaki, Li-kun, and himself. It was something of a relief, but he couldn't help but wonder. He'd seen a lot more people just walking the streets than he had on the journal system. Perhaps he was missing someone..?

..impossible. They'd at least have had the courtesy of introducing themselves, if indeed there was someone else he'd missed. It was just good manners.

Hei had weighed the risks on exposing himself to the M16 agent. What other way could he gain the information he so desperately sought? There was no guarantee that November knew any more than Masaki about the recent events surrounding the gate, but it was likely that he would.

Checking to make sure his mask was in place, he discreetly descended from his roost in a nearby tree and made way toward November. Hei approached him from behind, however hiding his blades in an attempt to show his desire not to fight, this time at least.

"November 11, isn't it?"

As a contractor, he wasn't suppose to care that this man was the cause of her death. Emotional attachment went against both rationality and the definition of a contractor. Yet, he had always been different.

Hei couldn't bring himself to be polite to this man, rather he felt his fingers nearly reach toward his concealed blades. Sadly, the fight would have to wait for next time.

"Tell me about the gate. What have you heard?"

Had the agent already forgotten him? Had Havoc's death really been so insignificant in his mind--He's a contractor, don't you remember? Hei had at least expected that he would remember his mask.

"Why did you kill her?"

"Don't pretend to be ignorant, November 11. Our memories prior to becoming contractors may be hazy, but I can personally attest to having a clear recollection of something that happened less than half a year ago."

Wouldn't November be surprised when he realized who he truly was? Hopefully though, that would be never. His years of perfecting the perfect image of Li Shenshung had allowed him a mask even better than that of the one he wore.

Only a precaution? A gloved hand pressed against the metal of the park bench, a sample, perhaps, of what he wished to do to the other contractor.

"..She wanted to change," Hei's voice trailed off as he distinctly remembered how Havoc had behaved that night. She had a second chance--she could have changed, but because of November...

Thankfully the park bench had been made of wood, as November's last comment had trigerred one of Hei's numerous trauma buttons. It wasn't an attack per say, more like a sliver of electricity that shot across the top bar of the bench. Just Hei's special way of telling November to back off the subject.

"Tell me, what's happening with the gate?"

If November could see Hei's face he would have seen an expression of shock flash across the contractor's face--shock not caused by the words alone, but by the uprooted memories that followed.

Destroy...they were trying to replicate the events of South America, the events were Pai...Amber, it was her fault, wasn't it?

"How? Does a woman named Amber have anything to do with it?"

[identity profile] contractorly.livejournal.com 2007-09-24 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
"...Evening Primrose? Amber's group--," the tone of his voice suddenly changed, taking on an agressive tone as he pressed harder for information, "What is she planning? She--this crisis with the gate is her fault, isn't it?"

"You're lying," he stared pointedly at the blonde, fingers once again tensing against the wooden bar, "The least you could do is tel me, after what you did to Havoc."

"Judging by your position in M16, I assume that there is a greater chance of you having insight into such matters," Hei relaxed, dropping his gloved hands to his side as a show of armistice, "I don't plan to fight today, Novmember 11. I only want information concerning the gate--and Amber."
