Summary; Mommy has to give her little boy the talk.
Log;
It was always so hard to wake up...mainly because it was so hard to fall asleep! Without having Roger to cuddle anymore, Bridget tossed and turned all night. It usually took him at least an hour to fall asleep, and then his body was even more reluctant to fully wake up.
As he shuffled around getting ready to start the day, Bridget felt like something akin to a zombie. Megumi had washed his clothes, making him feel extra squeaky-clean after his shower, but he didn't truly wake up until breakfast was made. Once food was in him, he was practically bouncing off the walls.
And Megumi had said she wanted to talk? The boy could hardly contain his curiosity, in such a hurry to finish brushing his teeth that he ended up skidding out into the living room with his bow tie undone, hair clips still in his hair, a tooth brush still sticking out of his mouth and both arms flung in the air in triumph.
"Never fear, Bridget's here~!" Well, that's what it should have sounded like, but the toothbrush made it sound something more like, "Nevah fea! Bwieh hea!"
Preparing breakfast for Sayako had become such a regular habit that she found herself getting up to do that first before she'd realize Sayako wasn't here. Of course, Mieu was, and now Bridget, so it helped cover that urge. She was already ready for work, being the director for the nurses in the hospital was no easy task, and despite the help they had, they still had to be careful about who they worked with and so on. But this wasn't the right time to think about that. Now that Bridget was here, she knew she had other things to worry about. Namely, what Greed had told her earlier.
While she had absolutely nothing against men and men together, the fact remained that not only was Bridget underage, she had a feeling he didn't really know what he was doing. Intuition said so much, and she had to talk to him about it, just to ease her own thoughts, and perhaps sort his own.
When he skidded out, she looked up from where she was setting the table, breakfast ready, blinking and then smiling in amusement. She was already dressed for work, her hair was clipped back to keep it out of her eyes, and she chuckled. "Slow down, little firecracker." She shook her head, wiping her hands and going over to him and putting a hand on his head. "Now march right back inside, rinse, and then come back."
The pout he offered as a result made the toothbrush droop a bit, but then he quickly nodded and turned around to dart back down the hall. In record time he'd ditched the toothbrush, rinsed his mouth, and raced back. She had said slow down, so this time he jogged in and flung his arms in the air again, a bit more slowly this time, with a grin on his face.
"Never fear, Bridget's here! Take two!"
By the time he'd returned, she'd gotten everything ready and was waiting for him, warm milk with chocolate and cake ready. Along with egg-toast and many other goodies she recalled Bridget liking when he was here previously that she'd already served him for breakfast, the boy was practically having a feast. Laughing a little with a shake of her head, she motioned him over.
"My hero has arrived~" she replied with a smile. Walking over to the living room, she sat down on the couch and patted the space beside her, crossing her ankles under her skirt and sitting like a proper lady should. Some habits took forever to die out, and this was no exception. "Turn around, I'll fix your hair." Turning to look towards her bedroom, she focused on a comb on her dresser and levitated it out from where she remembered it, a simple house-help spell that most witches could use, and watched him with an affectionate gaze. "Looks like we're having another slumber party tonight, hm~?"
Already Bridget had one of the pieces of toast with egg half stuffed in his mouth, a glass of milk and a small piece of cake balanced in his hands when she mentioned fixing his hair. Carefully chewing his food so that he could gobble it up without dropping the egg or any crumbs on the floor, he walked over and sat down on the couch beside her.
She was offering to fix his hair, but the boy could hardly sit still, as he was alternating between cake and milk and doing his best not to mess up the clothes she had only just washed for him.
At the very least, he remembered to swallow before answering. "I guess! Greed says he's going to show me around the City today, since I guess some stuff has changed? So maybe there won't be a slumber party now... Who knows?"
"Who knows..." she repeated softly, and pausing to grab a plate from the side, gently chiding Bridget to have things one at a time and made him set the milk down, before she set it to the table in front of them. Then, she ran the comb through his hair carefully, clipping them properly and speaking in a soft voice. "So Greed and you are... special friends, are you?" she asked. She'd been meaning to ask him about that ever since Greed brought it up.
His pouty face never lasted for long, since even though he had been parted from his milk, he still had cake, and having his hair brushed always felt nice! At her question, Bridget looked a bit puzzled, and started to respond immediately, only to remember that his mouth was full.
Chewing impatiently, Bridget drummed his fingertips against his knee, gasping for a dramatic breath when he was finally able to swallow and reply. "Special friends? You mean like you and me are special?"
Once the empty plate was set down in his lap, Bridget tried to grab the milk without pulling away too much from the brush.
Shaking her head, although she knew he couldn't see her do that, she paused in brushing his hair long enough for him to get the milk, then continued to do so. "No... not like us." She wondered how to go about this, then decided that being frank was the best way. He was a boy, it wasn't as though he'd be alien to anything like this if what Greed was saying was true.
"I mean... how..." she blushed a little, then spoke in a mildly softer tone. "Like how Axl and I are... special." That should be an idea, at least. Quickly continuing, she added, "You know... a little more than -just- friends?" Why was this so awkward all of a sudden?
Why was Megumi so tense? He could sense it easily... It was habit, maybe, from so much sparring and battles. Curious, he sipped at his milk, then licked his lips and burst out laughing. "No no! You and Mister Axl are a Mommy and Daddy! You two are in love!"
With a smile, he set the milk own and swung around to face her, sitting on one leg while the other dangled off the edge of the couch. "Greed told me, ummm... Gosh, what was it? It was so long ago!" Bridget tipped his head back to look up a the ceiling, fingers drumming against his knee again.
"That he and I were good friends... And he showed me how adult friends act around each other!" With another grin, the boy looked back down to Megumi, completely unaware of exactly what he was saying. "Adults have sex, right? That's what he said! Funny, though... Is it just between boys? Because on the May Ship, none of the girls did that with me!"
Oh the shock. It was apparent on her face, and she made no effort to hide it in any way, cheeks coloring a bit more. Well, Bridget was nearly sixteen now, so she knew she shouldn't be too surprised, but at that time, he wasn't! Which made her glance to a side and sigh, before she shook her head.
"No, it's... not just between boys, Bridget." Looking back at him, she set the comb aside, moving a hand to pet down his hair, then smiled weakly. "It can be with girls too. But..." She sighed. "Did you know what you were doing, when he... did that with you? More to the point..." she moved a hand to brush back her own hair. "Did you understand what was happening?"
The sudden serious note in her voice had his rapt attention, though the occasional pet to his hair did make him wriggle in enjoyment. "Mm...? Ummm..."
He only thought about it for a moment before shaking his head, blond hair spilling back over his shoulders from the exaggerated motion. "Not...really! I don't remember clearly. I think I was sad about something... And then he started tickling me! I like tickle fights! But then it got different... I thought it was just fun wrestling a first!"
A sheepish giggle followed, hidden behind his hand. "But Greed told me it wasn't wrestling. He said it was 'sex' and that it was fun and people had a good time doing it. Um, I didn't like some parts of it...but other parts were fun! Which kind of makes me think of wrestling all over again. Or grappling! It's like adult grapple time, right?"
Not wanting to think of certain situations she'd been in with Axl when she was younger, she kept a straight face and shook her head. "Well... something like that, yes, but... Bridget... sex isn't something you should have with everyone and anyone." She sighed, turning to face him directly and reaching out to touch his cheek. "Greed has a bit of a compulsive problem. When he likes something, he takes as much of it as he can get. But it's not the same for all of us." Letting her hand move down, she gave him a somewhat apologetic look.
"Sex is the act of intimacy that is between lovers, and is often very special." She had a romantic outlook towards it, but she was in the medical field after all- it would be quite a mood-killer if she were to be technical about it. "Yes, it feels good... sometimes it's pleasant just to have for some people, but..." she moved a hand behind her neck, rubbing it a little before moving her hand down. "You mustn't, mustn't let anyone touch you without your consent." She looked at him. "Between a man and a woman, it can be the start of what makes a family. Do you understand, Bridget? Sex isn't just something for fun. You have to know what you're doing." She'd continue once he'd shown he was following.
His eyes were wide as he listened. Though his own thoughts raced a mile a minute, her own words seemed to absorb slowly...and it wasn't until she paused that it seemed to hit him hard, and both hands flew to cover his mouth as he gasped. "Ah!"
Greed had lied to him! Or maybe Bridget was stupid and misunderstood... But it seemed like he had misunderstood a lot. Lovers... He knew what that meant. Like boyfriend and girlfriend. Like...exclusive. Sex wasn't something friends were supposed to do!
Upon realizing all of this, he dropped both hands to slam them against the couch cushion between his legs, tears stinging at his eyes and lower lip trembling. "I did something...bad? I'm a bad person?"
His reaction to it was so extreme that Megumi wondered if what she'd said was too much, but the moment she saw his expression, her own eyes went wide and she moved forward to hold his face in both her hands, smiling encouragingly and shaking her head. "Oh no, no, Bridget. You didn't do anything bad. I don't think Greed realized that it was bad either, he doesn't understand morality like ours..." She slowly moved her hands to his shoulders, holding him there.
"You'd want to do it sooner or later. He told me he didn't go too far, and that's alright, but... your body is a precious thing, Bridget. It's what helps you live, and... while it's alright to give it pleasure, it's also wise to protect it for someone you're willing to give yourself to." She smiled softly. "I just don't want you getting hurt."
He started to calm down at her words, warmed by her touch, only for another bout of panic to seize him. "B-but...! I am a bad person!"
Sitting back, Bridget jumped up, nearly knocking the glass of milk over as he burst into tears and backed away, covering his face with his hands in utter humiliation. "D-Dizzy...! I did that w-with Dizzy! She didn't remember afterward! I-I thought about it later, and I think she was under a curse... But she said she wanted it, I didn't even know what was going on until she was almost done! I was confused, b-but I figured out later... I thought I'd made her a Mommy! But I didn't, and I'm glad, but still I did something I wasn't supposed to! I-I thought it would be okay because Greed said it was okay...!"
Dizzy... her mind tried to think back, she vaguely remembered something like that but since it had been four years already in her own world, it was a bit hard to recall. Still, seeing Bridget's desperation, her mouth opened as though to say something, but became an 'o' of surprise as he began to cry. Eyes widening, she stood up quickly, and moved her arms around his shoulders from behind, turning him around and pulling him towards her in an embrace. "Bridget..." she spoke soothingly, moving a hand to the back of his head. "You can't blame yourself for what happens during a curse. You didn't know... it's alright. Shush..." Better to soothe him first instead of panicking. "Shh, Bridget, Bridget, it's alright.."
At first he just kept sniffling and hiccuping in an attempt to keep his sobs muffled, but being soothed only made him feel worse, because it was like he didn't deserve it. What if he had hurt Dizzy?!
Dropping his hands from his eyes, he flung both arms around Megumi's waist and nestled into her shoulder, shoulders shaking as his tears dampened her dress. At the very least, Bridget cried rarely, and when he did it never lasted long. It was only minutes before his eyes started to dry up, though he was still sniffing and clinging to her.
"...'m sorry..." he whispered, voice muffled.
She felt terrible for scaring the boy like that, and now regretted having told him all of that without having confirmed his experience in the matter. Keeping him close, biting down on her lower lip gently, she held him close until she felt him pull away a bit, and gently placed a kiss to his temple.
"Don't apologize... it's alright to cry." She told him assuringly. Keeping a hand in his hair, she whispered, "Listen, Bridget... as long as you know and trust the person, it's alright. I'm sure Dizzy didn't mind, and she wouldn't hold it against you. You shouldn't let anyone force you into it if you don't want to... that's not right, and they're evil for forcing it. But if you want it too... then it's okay." Moving a hand over his back, she stroked it gently. "But don't ever let anyone make you feel bad about it. It's up to you to decide, not anyone else. Remember that."
Waiting for a while then, she then whispered, "You alright, luv? I'm sorry if I worried you... I just didn't want you harming yourself."
With a sniffle, Bridget slowly calmed down, then stepped back and wiped at his eyes. "...I'm okay. I just...didn't know any of that."
Embarrassed that he had been crying, when he was supposed to be her hero, Bridget vehemently shook his head back and forth before straightening up with a forced grin on his face, one hand raised in a salute.
"I won't get hurt! I'll be smart from now on! I'll wait until I fall in love!"
It hurt her to see the boy keeping up a strong front for her, but she knew if she wanted to raise his morale again, she'd have to keep with it. However, she smiled, shaking her head and moving a hand to his cheek, catching the traces of his tears with her thumb, and tilted his face up. "I'll tell you all you need to know. It doesn't need to be falling in love to be with someone that way... but just be sure you're okay with them, right?"
Smiling kindly at him then, she added, "I'm sure whoever falls in love with you will be the most luckiest person in the world." Winking at him, she tapped her finger on his nose affectionately. "For now, don't think about these things, hm? You're still young. Enjoy your youth. You'll have time to experiment later."
Mentioning falling in love again made Bridget's cheeks flush, and his smile was even more genuine then. He could never stay sad for long... What a waste of time!
"You're right! I'm young young young! Lots of years ahead of me! I'll go play with Mieu!"
Still, he hesitated to leave, fidgeting with the ribbon dangling from his neck for a moment before reaching up and flinging his arms around her neck so that he could offer Megumi a kiss on the cheek. "Thank you, Miss Megumi! You're like the big sister I never had."
With a small laugh of surprise, Megumi moved her arms around his back again, hugging him lightly before letting him go, a faint blush on her cheeks as well. "And you're like the big brother I know Sayako would love to have." She winked at him affectionately, then kissing his forehead, she let him go.
"Now off you go, or I'll be late for work!"
His tears should have been indication enough that the day was only get more interesting.
For now, she'd be content with his smile.
