Log:

There had been times in D's youth that he had been frustrated by the connection he shared with his father. Alucard hadn't abused it, but it had been difficult to keep secrets from his father, and thus to keep secrets from the rest of his family as well. When D had finally learned to shut the vampire out, he had been relieved.

In his own time, he rarely blocked the link that tied him to Dracula. It was was one of the few reliable means he had of tracking his father. In the city, he rarely felt the need to keep Alucard out. Tonight was an exception. He'd had enough of explaining to his father why he fed so rarely, why he couldn't take a wife or have children. He'd had enough of wondering if he was wrong and his father was right. A night or more away from the flat was called for. D intended to be alone, and that meant blocking the link. Even the parasite was silent.

D paused in the shadows, hands relaxed at his sides, and listened. He expected little trouble with a significant portion of the population having only recently been toys. Nothing approached him, and he took another step away from the city proper.

"Uh ... D?"

So much for silences from the parasite. D flexed the fingers of his left hand in warning.

"Oh, save it. I know you don't want to ta--"

"Then be quiet," the dhampir interrupted. His companion offered no further argument, and D was satisfied. He knew his family was concerned. He would return to the flat before sunrise. They could speak then. In his current mood, conversation would only lead to fighting.
