Summary; Rozalin comes to visit Kline at his beckoning. He wishes to show her a...heh...good time but an obstacle presents itself. Boo.
Log; Where is his apartment...? Rozalin thought, pacing between the buildings. She didn't make visits too often--but being as she lived with so many others, there was no other choice. "Hnn~" She mumbled, finally finding the right building. One of those...silly human things. She reminded herself again, like a mantra. Silly human things, that's all. She ascended the steps into the building, taking in the sights all around her. She'd never been into any of the other buildings besides hers, and no other apartments beside Ananova's.
Did he mentioned once he lived alone? She flusteredly shook her head. "That doesn't matter," she mumbled under her breath. She knocked hard when she found his door. "Kline?" She called out, "I'm here."
Kline halted at the rap on his door. Ah! He lost track of time while cleaning up.
“Ehh, give me one second! I'm a slight bit busy!”
He tossed the random things that were strewn around into a closet, praying that there wouldn't be a surprise inspection of his apartment. He never knew what women ever did though. As much as he liked them, their minds never seemed to think straight. After tossing the rest of the things away, he plucked up a rose he had bought earlier and dashed over to the door. He composed himself and pulled it open, greeted by the sight of the beautiful Rozalin in front of him.
“Sorry about that, come on in~.” He held out the rose for her and grandly motioned toward the inside of the apartment.
"Busy...? With what?" Rozalin asked, but mostly to herself as the door opened a few moments later. "Ah...! T..thank you," She said as she took the rose, admiring it's simple beauty with a slight smile. "It's lovely." She gave a nod as her eyes scanned the room. It was a lot nicer than she expected initially. She twirled the rose between her fingers before tilting her head back to him. She hadn't forgotten why she came, and she was absolutely certain he hadn't either.
"About that thing you mentioned to me..." She said as nonchalantly as she could muster. "On the bodyswitch day." She was curious, as always.
“Ah yes, that.” He gave her a winning smile and stepped to the middle of his living room. He held out his left hand and motioned her over. He'd rather have her a little further in the room, in case someone like Konata came barging in at the wrong moment. She'd tell everyone in the world.
“If you will, it will only take one...small...moment.” He emphasized the last three words in a soft voice.
Rozalin followed suit. "Only a moment..." She echoed, walking a bit closer to him, eyes focused on him. That mantra of hers seemed to fade away already, an unwilling tinge of pink had appeared on her cheeks. Her textbooks on humans always failed to mention things like these, back when she was studying it. And yes, she'd learned plenty since arriving, but she believed that curses didn't count for what you could learn when willing. She glanced into his eyes...well, eye with an expectant look.
"...?"
Now, it was show time. He had promised himself to make it the best ever so he had to hold himself to that. Kline closed the last bit of distance between them and softly placed his right hand on her cheek. He positioned himself so that his body was touching hers, warmth passing between them. His fingers traced the outline of her pointed ear as though he was curious about her being a demon. He drew his face close to her and barely whispered five words.
“Are you prepared for this?”
"Prepared for this?" Her lips twitched, and she looked up again. "Of course. I'm here to learn something, after all." She stopped herself from adding at the end that it wouldn't mean anything anyway, but that'd kill the moment. Even if her textbook didn't say anything else on the matter, she knew at heart the moment had to be right. She tilted her head up slightly, expectant, trying to get rid of that annoying blush on her cheeks.
"Your move."
Kline offered her a smile in response. He wrapped his left hand around her waist and pulled her tight to his body. This stance left little to balance but offered a more...sensual feel. Kline twisted his head ever so slightly and gently pressed his lips against Rozalin's. For everything he could do in preparation, it will all be in naught if he didn't do this properly.
Rozalin was taken a bit by surprise as he wrapped an arm around her waist. Right, you had to be close... Her eyes closed as she felt his lips press against hers. ... For a brief second, she could see what he had meant when he said how it feels when done right. Humans may be onto something... she thought, as their lips pulled away after a few moments. She wanted to say something....anything after that one second, but she found her voice not wanting to work. What was this? Was she...embarrassed? Shy? The thought to her was just a slight bit ridiculous. Demons don't get shy.
Kline had hoped he performed up to expectations. The fact that she wasn't talking hadn't helped his ego at all. He didn't want to say anything to ruin the whole moment. Maybe this was her way of asking for another kiss. That's it! Kline thought he had suddenly deciphered the mind of a woman in his time of need. He leaned down again to deliver the beautiful demon the kiss that he thought she deserved.
"Ah...!" Her head jerked upward suddenly more at surprise than dislike, brushing her lips once and then pulling away a little bit. "So that's...what a real kiss is like?" She asked, patting her own lips a bit. She had caught a glimpse of his face, of course he'd want some sort of answer on her thoughts, even if she had been previously silent. She closed her eyes and gave a very faint smile.
"You humans..." She began. "Have some strange magic in you if a kiss can do that much." She admitted, finally.
Mildly rejected. At least she didn't slap him for that impulsive maneuver.
“Yeah, that was a real kiss. Fantastic, huh?” He gave her a one eyed wink and made to step backwards, so he could offer her something while she was here. A visit just for one thing would be a waste. His foot, in extracting itself from it's position, snagged on hers, knocking him off balance. With his left arm still wrapped around Rozalin, he tried to use it to steady himself. Kline leaned a little too far forward. In afterthought, he guessed he might have blushed, having Rozalin's large chest pressed up against his but that wasn't what was running through his mind as he attempted to regain his balance without falling on his partner.
"A....AHH!" In reality, she could have used her wings to steady herself, but she had that unfortunate habit of forgetting they existed. She lost her own balance when he started to wobble and grabbed the nearest thing she could to steady herself--him. One hand went to his shoulder, the other unwittingly went to his head as she fell backwards to the floor, Kline and all.
Kline's own instincts took over, putting her well being before his own. From the angle they were falling, he was pulling Rozalin upwards. His elbows made contact with the ground first. Pain shot through his arm but it was worth it to help cushion Rozalin's fall. When he opened his eyes, he saw that hopefully she was okay but...something wasn't quite right. He couldn't exactly place it.
She heard the noise of his arms hitting the floor before his. "S...Sorry..." She mumbled...trying to sit up. But a new sight met her when she looked up. Instead of one eye, her red eyes met two blue ones. Her face formed a little pout. He wasn't hiding anything under there at all! And she had previously thought he had been injured.
"Ah...your eye patch." She said finally, finding the strip of black fabric on the floor and handing it to him. "It must have come off."
Kline's eyes focused in on the eye patch that used to adorn his face. Both of his eyes tracked over to Rozalin. Then back to the eye patch. His eyes wavered between the two. Then the realization hit him through all his denial.
He jerked back and quickly crawled backwards away from Rozalin. “No...nonononononono. Why?” His eyes shot her an accusing glare but quickly softened, not wanting to anger his new wife.
“You realize what just happened....right...?”
She drew back at his glare and huffed a little. "Your eyepatch fell off. Is it that important...?" She felt a little bit of disbelief at the fact that one moment they had been fine, and now he was completely on edge. She picked herself up and brushed off her dress.
"If it's another human tradition, I do not know of it." She said bluntly, handing him the eyepatch. She chewed on her lip. Was it really that important? Judging by that simply mortified look on his face, she had to hazard a guess that it really was. "So what just happened?"
His finger jutted out to point at her. “You...” It then turned to point at himself. “...me...” Kline's head dropped in defeat, his red hair covering his eyes. “...we're married.”
Rozalin gave a cold stare at first, believing he was playing some joke. The stare melted to shock at the expression on his face. He wasn't joking. He wasn't joking. A wave of feelings came over her, but none of them good ones. Shock, mortification, disbelief, and rage seemed to melt together.
"You...You..." Her voice wobbled a bit. "You CANNOT be serious!"
A sincere frown plastered itself across Kline's face, a rare sight to behold. “Of course I'm serious! Do you think I'd joke around about marrying someone like you? Oh maaaaan...”
What was he going to do? He couldn't tell her that he didn't want this to happen. If anyone found out, it would be a scandal! Even so, he took the band of fabric and wrapped it back around his head, covering his eye back up.
“Look, I know this is tough to accept but you can either own up to this properly and we get married, forget anything happened, or get some kind of divorce.”
She gave him an incredulous glare. "There is simply no way I can be married! If getting married means looking at someone with two eyes, I'd be married to a million people by now!" She shook her head and folded her arms. "No offense...but I don't want to be married. And by the look on your face, I don't think you do either."
She folded her arms. "Do we really need to divorce? There aren't even any legal papers...o-or contracts...!" Which was a good thing, because if demons were weak to one things, it was a contract. "Let's just pretend this never happened, okay! The last five minutes never existed!"
Five minutes? But that would mean they'd have to forget about that kiss! Which then he reciprocated vocally. “How about we forget everything after the kiss?”
Auuugh, thinking about something like that after that close call he just had, he dismayed even himself. He slowly ran his hands through his hair, mussing it up. “Look, no offense but it's probably best if you left. Sorry.”
"After the kiss, hm...?" She nodded slowly, thinking that...shouldn't be too hard, if she tried. "Right. Consider it forgotten."
She frowned. "I agree." She turned for the door, telling herself there was no contract, and that she could rest easy because there's no way in heaven, hell, or this stupid city that she could get married and be forced into a...a contract just by looking at someone. That was ridiculous. Completely ridiculous.
"See you...s...some other time, then." She said finally, opening the door to leave.
Kline followed her to the door, leaving a respectable distance between them. “Yeah, see you later.” After she left, he closed the door and flopped back on the couch, his breath leaving him. Well, that was yet another girl who'll probably hate him forever. And she was so wonderful too... Kline wondered about his bad luck, hoping it would go away.
Rozalin took one last look at the building before leaving hurriedly to go back to her own. "Of all the things to happen..." She muttered, lifting the edge of her huge dress so she could walk faster and not trip. She'd need to ask someone if there REALLY would be no contract...you never could know with this city.
She glanced up at the sky, and for a moment, thought of her home. "Oh, father...I hope I have not shamed you today." She said finally, rubbing her forehead.
