"Ahh, I'm late, I'm late, I'm LATE!"
Yes, that was the sound of a peculiarly tall teenage girl as she raced down the quiet evening streets as fast as her long legs would carry her. The citizens of the City were barely able to catch a glimpse of the young woman as she passed, leaving a cloud of dust in her wake. Whether the girl noticed anyone around her at all...well there was no certainty, but since she was so busy worrying and fearing she was making the person nice enough to take her out wait due to her tardiness, it was unlikely.
It seemed even in a new dimension Risa's time keeping had not improved in the slightest.
Some things wouldn't change, though she hated to admit that was true. It just proved the point she had been trying so very hard to forget in the past few days in this new weird world. No matter how far she ran, she was unable to escape her own feelings.
Shaking her head violently, Risa managed to push the thoughts that were causing the slight hint of tears to well up in her eyes in the back of her mind. This was no time to be thinking such things! She had to perk up! It wouldn't be very fair to act all upset when Greed was making an effort to cheer her up. She would just have to grin and enjoy herself. After all, she did owe him for his help.
Finally skidding to a halt, Risa tried to catch her breath, bent over slightly, hands on her knees so she wouldn't collapse onto the ground. When she was able to stand up straight again, she gazed curiously at the surroundings, trying to pick out the form of the guy she was supposed to meet.
"Great, he probably already left. But I'm not that late am I? Or am I at the wrong place? Maybe I should have checked the directions again before I left..." she muttered to herself, still twisting her head in all directions, hoping to catch a glimpse of her friend.

"Uh...Are you gonna' be okay?" Greed asked, a little surprised by the red-haired blur he just saw skidding in, "You didn't have to rush that much. You're not really that far off."
He gently patted her on the back, hoping she wasn't about to drop dead in front of him.
"Do ya' maybe need a drink of water?"
no subject
"Uh...yeah, that...might be...a good idea." she spoke in between gasps of air, still trying to regain lost breath.
Stumbling a little, the girl was able to straighten herself out, before offering a slightly exasperated smile to the other, fumbling with her words as she tried to stutter out an apology.
"I'm so sorry for being late, I'm never good at this stuff. Were you waiting long?"
no subject
Greed smiled as he complimented her, his mouth a gleaming row of clean, white, sharp teeth, perfectly interlocked.
"Hard to believe you have a tallness complex. You're so petite!"
((OOC: You have no messenger system at all? It might make plot communication easier.))
no subject
"TTTThat's not funny, don't tease Greed!" she blurted out, trying to sound angry, though her tinted pink cheeks told a different story all together. Since when did anyone think of her as 'beautiful' or 'petite'? Pretty much never! Understandably, hearing such things caught the girl completely off guard.
{OOC: Well I think I could get on Windows Messager/MSN. I do have it but never really used it, which is why I never put it up in my profile or such, since I'm never on it. But I can go on for this if it's easier. ^^}

"I never lie, babe. You're very hot! Gorgeous! Glad you could come."
He offered her his arm to help steady her.
"Care to walk with me?"
,small>[OOC: Ah, nevermind. I don't have MSN messenger. Only YahooMessenger and AIM.]

It was only then it finally registered in Risa's mind; she was actually with a guy taller than her! And it was someone who was not just a classmate or an over obsessed childhood friend who saught her protection. It was just...strange.
"It's weird," she quietly mumbled as they started walking down the street, her gaze tilted in slight puzzlement. "Looking up. It's a change since I usually have to look down to look people in the eye."
{OOC: Oh, well I could download one of them tomorrow, if you wanted to, it wouldn't be a problem.;)}

"Don't worry about it. You look absolutely radiant. I can promise you that very few people here would notice. I mean, we have demons, super-humans, cat-people, all sorts of variety. One statuesque woman isn't gonna' get a lot of attention," he laughed, "You worry so much. Are people in your country very short?"
[OOC: Ah, that would be cool! I use Trillian, personally. It's many messenger programs in one!]
no subject
{OOC: Ah, good good. Do you have any links for where I could down the programs? I will try my best to set it all up in the next couple of days, I just have a good bit of University deadlines bogging me down at the moment. T_T}

"Well, that's unfortunate. Their loss, I guess," he shrugged, "But certainly not mine. Don't you worry about those people at all. Just be you, and to hell with what anyone else thinks."
As they continued on, he sniffed the air, trying to get a fix on the nearest foods.
"What did you wanna' eat, anyway?"
[OOC: Ah, it turns out I just got an MSN account last night! So you can just get on that.]

There it was, that memory of that stupid midget, kissing her while he had a fevor, and then forgetting everything the next day. And then when he did recall what happened, it turned out to be the fault of a grain of rice stuck to her hair.
Her face contorted into an irrated expression for a moment, growling to herself before she finally looked up at him again to reply.
"Anything but rice."
{OOC: Okay then, no problem. Do you want me to log on just now?}

He moved around her for a few moments, first in one direction, then the other. He slowly parsed through the various scents in the air until finding one that was good for the night's meal.
"Ah ha! I've got it! Food with substance to it!" he laughed, "Come on!"
Without another word of warning, he hoisted her onto his back and took off, dashing forward down the street. He jumped off at one point, scaling the side of a small building and using it for a better view, the descended again and followed his nose to the entrance of a great steakhouse.
"Now this," he said, putting her down, "Is FOOD."
[OOC: Sure, that works. My account name is mjsalucci@yahoo.com]

"Wow, I guess you really are something else Greed." she laughed a little, feeling more cheerful than she had been in the past few days. Finally taking in the air around her, the aroma fresh food was certainly strong. "But that does smell good."
{OOC: Added you, and online at the moment, if you wish to do anything tonight?}

"What kinda' food do they have on your world?" he asked, pulling out her seat for her.
no subject
"Oh, well, there's lots of stuff, since there are a lot of different cultures. But back home we ate a lot of seafood, meats, miso soup, noodles and rice, though I have recently gone off that last one." she said, trying ignore any thoughts related to the incident. "Basically a lot of stuff that's high in protein I guess."

He laughed again, a deep, hearty sound, and slapped the table with his palm. It called the attention of a nearby server, who arrived with menus.
"Excellent. About time these things arrived," he said, taking the menus and passing her one. Whatever universal language they were written in seemed readable to them both, "I'll never get this place. All these different places we come from, but we all speak and read the same here."
no subject
Once she had finished her request, she looked across the table again to see the other scanning the menu, looking as if he was ready to eat everything he saw on the list of foods.
"Thanks again for this, I do feel a bit better." she spoke softly.
no subject
"No problem," he said before looking back at the menu. A thick, prehensile tongue slid out over his lips as he eyed the prime rib section, heaps of steaming food clouding his mind.
"I've got it!" he yelled, startling the server, who hurried back.
"I want the special 67 ounce prime rib, rare, with steak sauce, mashed potatoes with gravy, garlic bread, and red wine."
no subject
She had to admit though, his features did creep her out slightly. She had glanced at the description on the network he left about Homuunculi, supposidly what he was, though didn't understand a awful lot.
Regardless, if not for the other she would prbably be sulking and feeling sorry for herself at the moment. Any more doubts were pushed into the back of her head, as she watched the slightly scared attendant scurry off into the kitchen.
"Wow, you must have been starving yourself all day to be so hungry."
Why did she get the feeling if they took too long bringing the food back, things wouldn't end very well?

The meal arrived shortly, the platters laid out with speed on their table. Greed inhaled the scents with gusto and popped open the wine bottle.
"Eat up, babe! Foods on me!"
no subject
"You sure? I think I have a little money. I think what was in my purse when I came here changed into whatever currency this place has. It might be enough for a tip..." she mumbled, dipping her hand into her bag to search for the purse. Thoug she appreciated what Greed was doing, she would still feel guilty making him pay for her food.
no subject
He placed his hands on his silverware and eagerly began to dig into his food.
"It smells so good! I can't wait!"
no subject
"Heh, technically not a woman yet though, I'm still in high school. The only thing that makes me seem older is my height." she stuttered, finally managing to pull out a few coins from her purse. "Hope this covers the tip then."
When she turned back to meal, she looked on amusedly at Greed's eagerness towards his food. Somehow, that loud, excited attitude reminded her of...
'Stupid, don't think about him!' she scolded herself, shaking her head slightly.
no subject
"Oi," he said between mouthfuls of steak, "Are you okay? What happened, did they spice the food wrong? Do I need to wring a few necks among the kitchen staff in this place?"
no subject
"Ah, no no! No need for you do that, really, the food's great it's just.." he tried to explain, shaking her head more and waving her hands in worry.
Pausing for a second as she thought of her words, she really was unsure how to finish her sentence. Sighing, she felt instantly guilty again; Greed had been nice to her in taking her out and yet all could think fo was Otani.
"Well my mind kinda wandered off for a second, sorry." she explained, calming down at last.
no subject
"Lemme' guess, still thinkin' about lover-boy?" he said, refilling his glass, "Man, the human heart really is somethin'."
He switched gears to get some of his mashed potatoes, savoring the creamy gravy on top of them.
"Don't worry about it so much."
no subject
"Wha?! No! I mean, well I..." Risa flailed, before finally slumping over her seat in defeat. She should have known better by now; she always gave herself away when it came to Otani.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't be but...I never thought letting go would be this hard." she mumbled to herself, turning back to her food without much though, expression still a little saddened.
no subject
"Homunculi don't have attachments like that. Our minds just aren't built that way. We don't have quite the same depth of emotion, in most cases. That isn't to say I'm cold-hearted, I just have a slightly different way of lookin' at things than you guys do."
He ate the last of his side-dishes and took a large swig from his wine-glass.
no subject
"I wouldn't feel so messed up at least." she sighed again before stiaghtening up in her chair. "But nevermind, I shouldn't be dwelling on this anyway!"

Perhaps this new world wasn't going to be so bad after all.
{Just about yes, not bad for my first 3rd person thread here, thank you for your help, I had a fun time with this thread. ^-^}
