Log: Complete
When: Saturday night, April 12
Rating: R for bloody violence
Characters: Walter Dornez
dark_butler, Girlycard
tinyvampiregod and Henry Fitzroy
stokerwasahack
Summary: A pair of bored vampires, experimentation with an unfamiliar power, andprey Henry. What could possibly go wrong?
Log:
Sure. He'd thought that going out into the Wild to practice shapeshifting would be a good idea. He was dreadfully behind on some - alright most - of the powers of a nosferatu. Changing age was hardly an accomplishment when even Millennium's shoddy work had given him that ability.
Where had he really gotten since Lenny's gift/curse of humanity had ended with his becoming a vampire again? A few shadow tricks, walking through walls - alright that was a useful one, a little bit of mostly-useless levitation, a bit of this a bit of that and mastery of almost nothing.
Well, not so now. He had managed a transformation. Perhaps he had had too much time in Xulchilbara's household - the hellhound had a distinctive appearance he would have to work on. But a partly skeletal doberman was likely to have some of the intended effect of striking fear in prey.
Walter stretched, turned in circles to try to see and examine his tail, and then turned to lope deeper into the forest, counting on Alucard to follow.

Shaking off his shaggy coat, the hellhound opened all eight eyes and huffed, trotting off beind Walter, nipping amusedly at the tail.

Normally, Henry's hunts took him to the streets of the City, but tonight he wanted a change of scenery, and instead of moving towards the square, he moved away from it. He found what he sought at the edge of the Wild--a young woman, alone, easily swayed to forget him as soon as he had taken what he needed. Henry licked the blood clean from the tiny puncture wounds in her throat and sent her on her way. He was about to leave himself when he sensed the other vampires. With the Hunter already so close to the surface, there was little hope of reining in the instinct to defend his territory. He turned, his gaze seeking the other nightwalkers.

He knew Alucard was behind him, and there was life throughout the wild. Some fled the hounds, some peered at them as they raced by.
So many choices. He wanted something strong. Something he could run into the ground. Something that would fight.
His path led him in an arc away from the heart of the forest and out toward the edge again. He didn't know what was there, but it shouldn't be in the Wild, should it?

For now, he allowed Walter to lead, drawn in by the enthusiasm of his fellow hunter.

Walter lost words in his mental narrative as he bayed and found a path clear in the forest that led straight toward this one without fear.

Pausing, he turned and gave a wolfish smile. An attack from two sides. Then howled and set off down his own path at a run.

One of the hunters was approaching from the side. Henry angled his body to meet the attack, hopefully without sacrificing his awareness of the second hunter he'd sensed.

It wasn't hot; its blood wouldn't be warm, but its posture said it was ready to give Walter some of what he wanted.
He picked up speed, running right at his target, counting on Alucard to take it from the side.

Snarling, he bared teeth and claws, attempting to sink them into soft fleshy bits on the other vampire.

It was exciting to hunt with Walter like this. Arousing in a way.

But it made Alucard pause. Oh yes... human thought returned for a moment.
Henry, this was Henry. Lifting his head, he gave a whine at Walter and swatted towards his nose with a heavy paw.

Fur on end, ears erect, he bared teeth at Henry in a warning snarl, but did not attack. Instead, he nipped at Walter's flanks, Not this one.

Carried away. . apologies. He attempted to send to Henry, then turned to Walter, tongue lolling out in a houndish grin.

"Accepted," he rasped through a sore throat.

He stalked stiff-legged toward Henry, confused by Alucard's behavior and not ready to let the hunt go yet.

And Walter would obey.

"Take him and go," Henry directed, "or we'll regret this night even more."

Somewhere inside his mind he struggled against the overwhelming and unexpected flood of instinct to bring conscious mind to the surface.

Moving to Walter, he licked the other's ears before starting off back towards the woods, pausing at the edge to ensure his fellow had followed.

With the conflict quelled, it was easier to keep the voice in his head silent in the welter of sensory input from the night forest. There would be other prey, after all, and he was still hungry.
