Log; Ongoing
When; May 12th (Day 2 of the Mirror!City Event)
Rating; G-PG?
Characters; Amanda Claire (
electronicly) and Sephiroth (
resurrectedgod)
Summary; Two in the mirror City meet to exchange information.
Log;
Amanda stands next to the fountain holding a thin notebook in one hand and idly twirls a few strands of her short blond hair between her fingers. Occasionally, she glances down at the closed laptop by her feet to make sure it is still there, but the rest of the time, she watches the streets. The impression had been given that she was expected to speak first, so the notebook was closed instead of being opened to the first blank page; though it did seem highly unlikely that there wouldn’t be anything added during or after the meeting.
After a few seconds she stops twirling her hair and walks to the other side of the fountain. The view was very little different from there, but it did not seem like a good idea to wander too far due to being already lost and not wanting to cause delays. Amanda wanted information, though more out of curiosity about the situation and not wanting to be missing any possible details than any desire to leave. It was tempting to call attention to herself- tempting, but also it seemed like if seen it would create an impression of impatience which would not be fitting for a first face to face meeting.

Perhaps it's because of his past as a hero -a past long gone after he'd become deranged- that it hadn't seemed particularly unusual to him.
Finally he arrives at the fountain and spots the blonde before revealing himself immediately--he hasn't any reason to be sneaky or shady. "I believe you had wanted to speak with me. An exchange, correct?"
no subject
“Yes, correct; good to see you so soon- it wasn’t sure how long it would have to wait before this can be found since it only found it by chance. This one will begin now, first by getting the theory out of the way before moving on to provable things. There’s more details in this one’s notebook, but it can recite enough to only need to open it for specific things.”
A slight pause.
“This is just like a mirror works, so it thinks that those on one side or the other- it will not claim to be sure who is mirrored and who is looking into the mirror- are reflections of other sides of people normally on the other side. For example, this one has heard it is normally different and it has also heard that what sees in the mirror is not just their body but what they don’t show that exists in their mind or a personality they could have had. If that was so, it would explain why people look the same and act different. This one wonders if a different sort of mirror was used for those whose bodies are different, but the mind is not… though those with a different mind and body must be a very distorted reflection. That people on the other side can only be seen on the network and in reflections is oddly fitting, really. It is fairly sure you have also seen enough examples already to know that it is so that people have changed despite some constancies, so it will move on to the questions it’s theory made it have. What is the point of having only the reflection or only not? And what would one need to do to make sure they were on the correct side so that they won’t be damaged if the mirror is destroyed? Should, as a test, something be done matching a trait that one doesn’t seem to have to see if it makes one cross over?”
There is an urgency to the tone of the last question, then she shakes her head slightly.
“Haha… such rambling. It will be more concise soon, it is certain.”
no subject
"That is quite the theory. Indeed, Tuesti is unlike himself, and one needn't look for for other examples." He frowns slightly before continuing. "Others have made mention of deities who tamper with those who are brought here; events such as 'curse days' happen time and again, they say. Then to have a 'reality' and a 'reflection' is perhaps another of their little games, and the reason why some are themselves while others are not simply might be part of the game. Perhaps then it is worth testing the proposed solution to such a theory--that one might cross over by accomplishing a task of the opposing nature."
He pauses for a moment, thinking.
"However, if one cannot identify the difference, then that person might not be able to accomplish such a task, correct? Or, regardless of one's known knowledge, perhaps it is possible for one to cross sides anyway."
no subject
“It has also heard of the ‘deities’ and has seen curses before; somehow this one even had a previous self that was fascinated by the curses and other oddities of the city, and took hundreds of notes during the months that one stayed in the city- but it no longer has those notes, Tuesti does. This one wonders if any of the other games were like the current one; it may ask later if it continues to have nothing better to do than learn about the situation.”
Looking up at the sky for a second, she pauses.
“It is uncertain and it does not like that feeling. A test like that can be done, but what to use to test is not something it knows… Perhaps one can cross without knowing everything, yes. And perhaps the curse only wants to make people act a certain way and talking to those who crossed could tell how; it is not impossible for someone to accidentally do what was needed to cross.”
no subject
"And had he taken those notes from you?" Sephiroth asks as a follow-up. Normally he'd have focused on how beneficial obtaining such notes would be, especially considering what he might learn about these deities' parlor tricks and such. However, his thoughts instead focus on the value of these notes in order to save others from the current predicament. In the light of the event, his usual ulterior motives almost completely vanish. "Or did you give them to him?"
Either way, if there's yet a means to obtain the notes, he's more than ready to consider it.
"Where can the notes be found?" He speaks this more like a command than a question.
no subject
“Even here, that is so. Hm... Anyway, as far as this one knows, it’s previous self gave the notes to him for safe keeping willingly before that self left the city and weeks before this one arrived.” She tenses vaguely at the noticed resemblance to a command, but keeps her tone the same. Whatever dislike the current mindset might have to not being considered in charge- unlike her usual acceptance of authority taken by those who would seem to have some idea what was going on-, she was interested enough to internalize it. “You would need to ask him. It does not know exactly where the notes are other than in his possession, but it would look in his apartment first if it was going to find the notes and take them from him… So, what will you do once the notes or a copy thereof are in your hands?”
no subject
"Ah, another version of yourself was here before you?" It sounds more like a question since he's trying to be more considerate. "I was informed of previous versions of myself as well; however, I have no knowledge of what they'd done."
"Perhaps I shall attempt to procure these notes, although there is a high chance that they are on the other side, correct? On the 'uncursed' side, so to speak--unless it is perfectly reflected except for its residents. This in itself could be another test, and obtaining the notes may be beneficial to anyone who wishes to escape this curse as well as others yet to come. Do you not agree?"
no subject
She is slow to relax again, but she does notice and appreciate the effort.
“High or moderately high depending on how optimistic one wants to be, but a perfect reflection of all that isn’t a resident could be the case. It thinks that the quality of the reflection can be tested by looking for things that may be on the other side… Hm. The notes could be useful for this situation and efforts to understand, yes. This one feels no inclination whatsoever to leave, but it will not stop or hinder attempts to put people on the side they want to be on; so do not worry about ‘saving’ this one if the notes give you an idea for how to do so. Oh—by the way, to make sure you get the right thing from Tuesti, you might need this one’s name; it is Amanda.”
“Should this one move to the next topic now or is there more to discuss about the current one?”
no subject
"Very well then--I shall seek out others who wish to return. When I have the opportunity, I shall speak with Tuesti about it. Amanda..." He takes it in, dedicating it to memory; if not just for the notes, then perhaps for other information in the future. Connections are important, but he hasn't realized this train of thought comes from motives that have presently been forgotten. "My name is Sephiroth."
"If there is anything else that you see fit for discussion, or if you care to request information for yourself, then we shall continue. I apologize in advance that I honestly do not have much in way of information that we have not yet uncovered."
no subject
“There is one last thing it wishes to mention. It discovered numerous things in it’s residence that did not suit it’s taste despite having no roommates; make of that what you will, but this one is not convinced it’s unrelated since others mentioned similar things. Now, is there anything you have discovered that this one has not already called attention to?”
no subject
With that, he began to wonder and attempt to piece together what he already knew. Tuesti's, was it? No doubt he would like to confront that man now.

Amanda turns and starts to walk away, her mirrored self didn’t care whether or not doing so would seem rude. After a few steps, she does pause and wave over her shoulder before continuing to walk.
