[Log | In Progress]
When; Today! At this very instant, this very second! Or something.
Rating; G-PG? (It's just Hotohori being shocked and Nuriko being faaaabuluous.)
Characters; Hotohori (
koutei_heika) & Nuriko (
enfemme)
Summary; Hotohori finds a little lost Nuriko who's new to the City. Shock, drama, more shock and yet more drama ensue! We's gonna shoujo it up in dis piece and make Mama Watase proud! Fo' sheezy.
Log;
Snap and crackle went each delicious pop from each not-so-deliciously stiff joint; Nuriko felt like he had been asleep for ages. He very well might have been. It was good to be outdoors, able to run around so freely! Too bad he had already felt exhausted, a result from his brain being put through the wringer.
As if being so abruptly woken from eternal slumber hadn't been shock enough (though by all rights he should have been used to it), he had come to find the Emperor without any memory of anything that happened after they had left Konan. Were he anyone else, Nuriko might try smacking him around a bit to fix those loose screws (and knock a few more loose in the process), but the courtly manners were strong with this one. Particularly so where His Highness was concerned. (And when they weren't strong he blamed it on not knowing his own strength, tee-hee.)
Perching on a bench, Nuriko surveyed the City meticulously. Emperor Senses would start tingling the moment Hotohori drew near, but there sure were a lot of strange people here.
"At least the ones I've met so far have been friendly. Good for them," he said to himself quietly as he grew more and more anxious. He sure hoped the Emperor would be okay.

…Nuriko.
He spent a few minutes talking with the other man, a bit curious as to the nature of his post, but far too anxious to really pay it any mind. That is, until…
Dead?...Nuriko is…
At first he thought it was some sort of joke, the flamboyant suzaku warrior was known for his fooling around and lightheartedness, but after a few more moments it seemed that he was quite serious.
Of course, it took another moment to consider – it was often said that people who came to the City were taken from various points in time, or that time sometimes stopped for those who were here. With that in mind, he realized the gravity of this information.
…we have lost? How many others did not survive? …My empire…my line…
He shook his head as if to clear it. There was no use jumping to conclusions, right? Besides, Nuriko was new here, and did not know the rules or dangers of this place.
Approaching the carousel now, he did his best to appear composed. Very few people here knew of his status, but even so, he always tried to look calm and collected, and always at his best… of course, Nuriko knew, and Nuriko must expect that of him, so holding his head high, he approached.
“Nuriko,” he called gently, spotting his fellow warrior. “Have you met any trouble, friend?”

Nuriko's saccharine smile stretched wide across his face; had he a functioning heart, it would have been pounding in all the excitement. His friends that he loved so dearly... to think that it was possible for him to see them all again! Nuriko was especially overjoyed to see the Emperor. Despite cutting off his hair and wearing men's clothes, that had been for Miaka. The girl in him still felt remnants of that little schoolgirl-type crush she had for His Highness, as silly as he felt about it now.
Oh, Dramatize!
Hopping down from the bench, Nuriko waved his hand dismissively in that overly-exaggerated fashion that was purely his own. "No trouble, Your Highness. Actually, everyone's been really nice so far--" Besides the cute little girl that offered to rip off his jaw, but Nuriko had been more disturbed by that than anything. "--it still kind of feels like I'm dreaming."
Inwardly, Nuriko was kicking himself for stressing the Emperor out so much. Had he known Hotohori was there and that he had no memory of what had happened, he would have made his entrance a tad bit differently. In all honesty, beneath that anxiety was growing relief that surged stronger after seeing Hotohori face-to-face. It was good to see the Emperor alive and well.
To Nuriko, they all deserved to be alive and happy.
"I sure hope that I didn't trouble you too much with the bad news, Your Highness." Well, bad news for us, anyway. Nuriko thought.
"I wouldn't have joked about it had I known."

“Trouble? No…I’m just a bit shaken up. However, the dead do come here, they say. I just didn’t expect…”
The young emperor trailed off then, it was still so much to take in at once. What of his empire? What of the quest for the shinzaho? What happened to Miaka in the end of all things?
He shook his head as if to clear it. “It is no one’s fault, Nuriko. What suzaku wills for us, we must accept.”
Turning his back now, and looking up to the sky for a moment – a well rehearsed tactic to hide his emotion from others – the slight waver in his voice was the only thing that revealed his uncertainty.
“Has this place been explained to you? …Do you have a place to stay?’
sdfk REDO, sorry! <3
Nuriko stopped himself as he silently mewled over all he had learned. It wasn't much, since the majority of it he could not understand. From what he could gather, the place was something like a melting pot of different worlds. A place where people of various different worlds converged.
"Well, to be honest, Your Highness," Nuriko started, concern etched in his features as he watched Hotohori's back. "I don't understand any of it. I don't have a place to stay, either."
Nuriko grinned a devious little grin; that was the grin from a man with a plan. "But!
"I can't be bothered too much by it. I mean, since Miaka-chan and Tama-chan and aaaall of Konan went on to live happily ever after, I can afford to be pretty carefree here, don't you think? Ahh-- happy endings are so nice!"

However, when the other warrior mentioned Miaka and the state of the nation, the young emperor turned to look at him with slight shock.
…So Miaka had chosen Tamahome, that is not surprising. He had known for some time that he had been fighting a losing battle when it came to Miaka’s affections. She and Tamahome were more suited for each other.
“Kounan is…safe?”
When he had begun to believe that Nuriko was in fact, dead as he claimed – and perhaps Hotohori would be soon enough, he began to doubt an outcome so favorable.
With budding interest, he takes a step towards him, wanting to know more about what happened.
“I will find you a place to stay,” he said, waving him off. More interested in the state of his nation. “Who is on the throne? My brother Prince Ougi?” He asked with somewhat anxious eyes. It had been so disconcerting for so many months with no news of home.

Flashing a peace sign, Nuriko winked at the Emperor. "Don't worry, don't worry, Your Highness! From what I've heard from Taiitsukun, Konan is fine. The new Empress is taking care of things."
With all the world-hopping magic their own world possessed, something like being transported to the City wasn't all that strange. What was strange were two facts; the fact that Nuriko now had a semi-living body and that Hotohori didn't remember anything beyond their departure from Konan in search of the shinzaho.
Either His Highness had hit his head or there was some sort of timeline discrepancy. Although Nuriko would have liked a more thorough explanation, the rhymes and reasons of this new world didn't matter much at the present moment. What mattered was the fact that he had just nearly given his Emperor a heart attack.
"I know it might be hard... but please don't concern yourself about it too much, Your Highness. Though, I'm a little concerned myself-- have you not heard from Taiitsukun at all since coming here, Hotohori-sama? I find it strange that you have been missing from our world and no one's noticed."
