Summary; Tony surprises Toshiko at work.
Log;
Toshiko had a bad tendency to do too much of her actual job -- the one that paid her, as opposed to the projects she kept taking on mostly for fun -- from home rather than her desk at the police station. Which didn't seem to raise too many eyebrows, at least not so far, but she figured she ought to make more of an effort to actually be at work when she was working.
Honestly there were days when she thought being independently wealthy enough for self-employment would be a fantastic way to live.
Today, however, she was being diligent. Which meant sitting behind her desk, working her way through a list of suspicious network activity she wanted to investigate more closely.
It had been a while since Tony had seen Tosh. Maybe it was a bit too long. He wanted to give her space but he didn't want her to think that he was just tossing her aside completely. He still very much enjoyed her company and wanted to spend time together with her. Tonight was one of the rare nights she was working at the Police Station so tonight was the perfect chance to kidnap her.
With the car waiting outside Tony made his way through the building to her office. Dressed in a tux with flowers and garment bag in hand he knocked on her door frame and smiled broadly when he saw her.
"Hey, I hope you're not up to anything serious because I'm here to kidnap you. By force, if necessary."
She'd looked up in surprise at the figure in the doorway, the expression becoming one of delight when she realized who was there, then back to surprise again at Tony's remark. "You do realize you're in a police station," Tosh teased. "Your plot might work better if you chose a more appropriate venue for it."
Then she noticed what he was wearing, the flowers and garment bag he carried, and she sat back in her chair with a smile growing on her face. "Don't you look handsome! Are you those for me?"
"Maybe I'm just that good," he told her, stepping into her office and holding out the flowers and garment bag to her. It was really good to see her again. Tony had forgotten how much he enjoyed seeing her smile, just how happy it had made him. It's why he did things like this.
"And they are," he confirmed. "I figure if we're going to go dancing, you would want something appropriate to do it in."
"Dancing?" This was certainly unexpected, although Tosh supposed she should have expected something like this from Tony. He did love to surprise her. And well, she missed him. A realization that hit her unexpectedly hard as she looked from the flowers to the smile on his face.
Standing, she crossed the room and took the garment bag, pausing to kiss him, and headed for the ladies. "There are shoes too, I suppose? Did Gwen help you raid my closet?"
"Not at all," he assured Tosh, thoroughly enjoying the brief kiss. "The shoes and dress are brand new, I bought them for you a few days ago just for this occasion."
The event had been premeditated. In fact, Tony had been thinking about seeing her again the moment he left her and Max naked in her room. Giving her time and space was nice, but damn it Tony liked her and still wanted her in his life.
That stopped Tosh in her tracks, and she looked at Tony from the doorway. "A few days...?" Which meant this wasn't just some whim of his, he'd really been planning for it. And that made her blush, from pleasure rather than embarrassment. Her voice was softer when she added, "I'll be back in just a few minutes, Tony. Make yourself as at home as you can without actually going through my files," and then hurried out the door.
She changed as quickly as she could, although it was impossible not to stop and marvel at how nicely the dress fit her, or the fact that the shoes were the perfect size. After taking a few extra minutes to pin up her hair and freshen her makeup as best she could with what she carried in her purse, she slipped quietly back into the office, the garment bag now holding her clothes from the day.
The dress looked amazing on Tosh, not that Tony had really doubted that it wouldn't. Although he wasn't sure if that was due more to his ability to select clothing or the fact that just about anything looked good on her. Of course, things looked even better off of her.
"You look absolutely gorgeous," he told her, stepping towards her and holding out a hand. "I suddenly feel very stupid for waiting this long to do this."
"It's beautiful, Tony," Tosh said softly, taking his hand. She let the garment bag drop onto her desk and then stepped close to him, raising her free hand to touch the lapel of his tuxedo. "Think I'll keep the flowers here, and make my coworkers jealous just a little."
"That's quite awful of you," he said, squeezing her hand a bit before leaning down to lightly kiss her. His lips on hers felt so good, almost like a guilty pleasure he had given up for a while. "I absolutely love it. But if you keep talking like that we're never going to make it dancing."
"No mischief in the office," Tosh admonished, although she leaned a little into him for a moment before stepping away, pulling Tony along with her. Dancing sounded fantastic, although any excuse to spend time with him would have appealed to her. She'd almost forgotten how good it felt just to be next to him. "Are we walking, or did you drive?"
"I drove, but I wouldn't mind walking if you wouldn't mind?" he asked, heading towards the exit of the station. The admonishment of "no mischief in the office" was almost too much of a temptation. If he stayed there long he might have pushed the issue.
"Really, I just want an excuse to prolong this evening as much as possible."
Tosh would have had to put her foot down on that subject. Playing around in the workshop was one thing, but she wasn't sure she'd be able to look George in the face again if they got caught having sex at the police station. "I don't mind walking, these shoes are a lot more comfortable than they look. You have a good eye for sizes."
His remark made her smile, and slip her arm through his. "We can make this evening last as long as you like, Tony. I've missed you."
Tony remembered a certain "no naked sex on rooftops" rule Tosh had once too, but that didn't seem to last too long. But sex in the police station could wait for now. Right now he just wanted Tosh's company. Well, that's mostly what he wanted. For the moment.
"I've missed you too, Tosh," he told her. "You should come over sometime and see my new warehouse. With Saya gone I'm building my own place."
Yeah, she'd probably give in eventually. Late at night when there weren't many people around, possibly. Not right now, though, because she was looking forward to the dancing, and to be completely honest, to showing off the gorgeous dress Tony had bought her.
"Oh, I can't wait to see it! I'll bet it's really going to be something. All full of toys and gadgets. Got any big new projects planned, for when the workspace is ready?"
"I've got something in mind," Tony told her, thinking to the Hulkbuster Armor he had in mind to build. There were threats to the City that where something like that might be called for.
"But I was thinking I could set you up with some space?" he added hopefully. "You could use any of the equipment there that you wanted. Free reign, all access."
That stopped Tosh in her tracks, and she looked up at Tony, open-mouthed. "Are you serious? You'd let me have space to work there, in your workshop? I wouldn't want to be in the way, but...that'd be brilliant, Tony! Though you might find yourself getting awful tired of seeing me around."
"I don't think that would be possible," he reassured her, grinning broadly before pulling her close for a kiss, this time more than just a quick one. Tony could feel himself melt against her, pulling her closer until her curves were close against his body. "Although you won't mind if we engage in a little mischief there every once in a while?"
God, it had been too long, and Tosh found herself fitting her body against his, sliding her arms around his neck as they kissed. "I would be very disappointed if we didn't," she murmured. "I'm something of a fan of workshop mischief."
Tony reluctantly pulled himself away from Tosh, because if they kept this up then they wouldn't make it dancing. They wouldn't even make it another few feet out the door, for that matter. Tosh was just too damn enjoyable in too many ways he felt like he didn't have time to properly enjoy all of them.
"Then we'll have to plan for some of that," he told her with a wink. "But for now, we're going dancing."
Tosh sighed a little, though she knew as well as Tony did that they weren't very likely to stop once they got started. And she'd probably end up embarrassed in the end, so better to get back to their walk to the club. She reached for his hand rather than taking his arm again, enjoying the feeling of his fingers wrapped around hers. "Lux, as usual?"
"It does have the best music," he said, enjoying the feel of her hand in his as they head towards the Lux. Maybe another evening they'll try a different place, perhaps a club that would have a bit different dancing, but not tonight.
"And I want to dance slow and hold you close."
That sounded like the perfect sort of night to Tosh, and she smiled dreamily, laying her head against Tony's arm for just a second. "I'd like that, Tony. I'd like that a lot. We'll dance how we want, no matter what music they're playing."
"Right, because I won't be paying attention to anyone but you," he reassured her. Which was true. Tony was used to doing what he wanted and everyone else be damned. Most people just assumed it was the eccentric billionaire in him, but Tony just knew how to seize each moment.
Tosh felt exactly the same way, and she said nothing more, simply smiled warmly up at him as they walked hand in hand toward Lux. She had a sort of nostalgia for the club, tending to think of it as 'their' place, and although she agreed there were probably other perfectly suitable places for dancing in the city, she was glad Tony had chosen this one.
When they arrived, she pulled him along straight to the dance floor, turning to face Tony and put her arms around his neck.
Tony liked the way that Tosh lead him right to the dance floor. Tosh was good about that, going for what she wanted. At least she was with him. Perhaps because she knew he was comfortable with her being forward. His hands move to her hips and wrapped around her waist as he began to move slowly to the music.
"I've missed this," he told her.
She did feel more confident about taking the initiative around Tony, and did so much more readily than when in the company of others. Tony made Tosh feel like it was all right to do what she wanted, rather than waiting to follow the example of others.
And, well, he had promised her dancing.
"So have I," she agreed, stepping even a little bit closer, so that she felt completely within the circle of his embrace. "You have the most amazing hands, I've missed them."
"They've missed you too," he said, leaning in just a bit to kiss her softly. "Touching you is one of their favorite things to do."
And it was true. Tony loved touching Tosh. He loved just about everything that involved Tosh, actually, but she was especially fun to touch, to hold close. She seemed to fit very well against him. She was... comfortable in a way that never ceased to be exciting.
"You know that no matter what, I enjoy being with you in any capacity, right?" he asked as they moved along the floor. "I like you in so many ways Tosh."
Tosh smiled up at him, content to follow along as he moved, so long as he didn't let go. "I do know, Tony. And I hope you know that I feel the same way. I never had a relationship like this, it's a little strange and new, but I think I like it. It feels sort of...free. And pretty much everything I do with you has the potential for being something exciting."
Which she appreciated very much. Tosh kept it well hidden, but Ianto had pegged her well when he'd pointed out that she got off on the adrenaline rush that came from the unknown or the unexpected.
"It is free," he told her, nodding in agreement. "I like being free to ask you to dance when I want to and free to talk over any sort of programming problem I might be having or my latest project or just skip straight to stripping you naked."
He enjoyed her versatility like that. Tony had never met a woman quite like Tosh, most of them that were that smart were... not as much fun as she was.
Since Tosh would never have considered herself fun, she'd have been pleased to hear Tony thought so, even if she probably would also have blushed a little and insisted it was only because he was so much fun to be around.
"No stripping naked here," she teased, with a smile. "Ishiah would look disapproving at me, and I hate that."
The idea of her boss doing nothing more than look at her disapprovingly as Tony stripped her naked in the middle of Lux was amusing. The slightly sadistic side of Tony kind of wanted to try it.
"Alright, I'll take a rain check on that then," Tony said, smiling back at her.
Tosh smiled dubiously at him, certain he was being deliberately vague as to exactly what he was taking a rain check on. "Rooftops are my limit," she murmured, her voice soft but amused. "But you know what would be brilliant? A picnic on the beach. Not tonight, just...sometime."
Tony gave a bit of a sly smile at her comment. Tosh should definitely know better than to tell Tony something like "rooftops are my limit". That was practically a challenge. All thoughts of that were slightly derailed by the idea of a picnic on the beach.
"We could go camping again," he suggested. "Just a short night trip, but laying under the stars and listening to the ocean while being close to you sounds pretty close to perfect to me."
It sounded pretty close to perfect to Tosh as well, and her momentary nervousness over that sly smile disappeared as she leaned a little into him, sighing happily. "Tony, let's. I would love that." She tilted her head back to look up at him, all smiles. "You are so good to me."
"You deserve to be treated well," he told her before leaning down to softly kiss her. And Tony believed it, too. She deserved someone special, someone who could treat her like she deserved all the time. Until then, Tony was more than happy to treat her like she deserved when he could.
"Besides, it's fun to spoil you."
"Well it's fun to be spoiled," Tosh laughed, stealing another kiss before resting her cheek against Tony's chest. Once she'd gotten over those first few days of self-doubt and jealousy, she'd realized that Tony walking in on her and Max -- as innocent as it had been -- was probably the best thing that could have happened. Things were more relaxed between them now, and Tosh was learning how to just enjoy the moment rather than worrying so much about the future. "Have I mentioned that I love your cologne? I think I might have to make off with another of your shirts."
"Have I mentioned that I don't wear cologne?" Tony asked back, giving Tosh a bit of a sly grin as he enjoyed the feel of her against him. While he missed seeing Tosh as much as he had, he felt much more comfortable about their whole situation now. He didn't live in constant fear of breaking Tosh's heart or getting in the way of her having something better. That may have sounded egotistical but it was no less true.
"So you just naturally smell wonderful? I can live with that," Tosh teased in return, tilting her head up again to kiss Tony's chin. "If I get a new place, will you come help me have a flat-warming?"
"Of course," he replied in the midst of a pleasant sounding growl at the feel of her lips on his chin. It was amazing how Tosh could make him feel with just little action. "A flat-warming sounds like a lot of fun. I hope you're getting a big place though because it's going to be packed for your party."
Tosh pulled away a little bit in surprise, studying Tony's face. "I was just...I was only going to ask you. Bottle of wine and a movie or something, maybe. Never had a flat-warming party before." Of course, that was because she'd never had anyone to invite to one before. "I'm thinking of maybe getting a place in the building I'm at now, but up on the top floor. Something with a view. I miss the water."
Tony was flattered that Tosh would only want him at a flat warming party. Not that he wouldn't enjoy the private time with but that was hardly much of a party. If that's what she wanted though, that was fine.
"I'd love something like that," he told her, pulling her back close to him. "But usually parties like that involve all sorts of little dips and inviting all your friends over to see the new place."
She willingly let him pull her close again, smiling at his suggestion. "I guess I could do something like that. Would be a nice way to break in the place, wouldn't it? Once I have a place, that is. Right now it's still just a lot of thinking."
What a nice way to kick off her attempt at starting up a real life in the City, though. A party like the one she wished she'd had in London, a place of her own full of the friends she'd made here. Tosh decided she really liked the sound of that.
"It would be a lot of fun. And there's nothing wrong with thinking it over a bit first. Planning is good," he told her. It would be a good way to remind Tosh just how many friends she had, too. Having all of them there enjoying her new place would do her good. They could do their own, personal party some other time. "I think you should invite lots of people. If you do, I promise to stay late and help you clean up."
Well, that was a difficult offer to refuse. "You really would? I guess it would be fun, just something casual and maybe we can all...play a game or something. That's what people do at that sort of thing, right? Then maybe after everyone's gone and the place is tidied, we can celebrate ourselves. In fact, I think we should do that sometime even if I don't get a new place of my own."
