Log; Complete
When; Thursday, September 25th, 7PM
Rating; PG
Characters; Evangeline
teamaniac, Autor
freakyfanboy
Summary; Autor wants to meet a vampire. For tea, Eva obliges.
Log; The young looking girl had quickly scoured the city for information. She was already aware that her secret was most likely out but it wasn't like she really needed to hide it in the first place. All pretenses of keeping magic a secret had dropped in this mostly magical world. That meant she didn't mind returning back to her own roots of being a loner and doing nothing except out of personal gain. Living in the light? Hmph. She was still content with trying to ignore Nagi's advice.
She headed out early for her meeting, wanting to look around and mostly to avoid cleaning for a while. She wore her white dress, gothic lolita style of course, with a white top hat and a white umbrella. She didn't need the umbrella for daylight walking but she used it anyways. It was that much less of a drain on her, albeit minuscule. After an hour of wandering, she finally made her way to her destination, the apartment of that boy Autor. Knowing full well she could blow in the door if she liked, she lightly knocked, hoping the boy wouldn't pick up on it so she could give him a hard time.

It was seven on the dot when he set his tea set out on the table, the steam rising from the spout on the pot a clear sign that it was full. He'd fussed over using the best quality tea he had. It wouldn't do to make a vampire angry with him--or whatever Evangeline was. He didn't have much doubt that she was really a vampire, however. Otherwise, what would be the point of asking him if he was afraid of them?
Autor was remarking to himself at how thrilling this meeting would be when he thought he heard a noise behind him. Was that a knock? It was a quiet enough (and the ticking had started to become so unbearably loud) that it was hard to tell for sure, but...he turned and walked towards the door, then looked through the peep hole to see if anyone was there.
Funny...he didn't see any--oh, wait, was that a hat? Maybe it was her? He took a moment to debate between the embarrassment of leaving someone waiting for him and the embarrassment of being caught looking out a door when no one was there. No, the first was definitely worse. With a shrug, he opened his door and looked out.

"I see you were on time, boy. You get points for not making a lady wait."
She closed her umbrella and set the point on the ground, putting a little weight on it. The kid looked exactly like she expected for someone that seemed so sure of himself. Glasses, inquisitive stare, and the odd hair style. Someone she'd break like a twig any other day.

"Of course. I was raised to be punctual and polite." In fact, his father was so obsessed with routine that if they ate their meals even five minutes late it was a crisis. Not that he was going to go that in depth with her.
He paused, looking at the girl for a moment. She looked even younger in person than she did on the Network...but there was a definite confident and maturity in the way she stood and looked at him. She definitely wasn't just a child.
He softly smirked. This should be interesting..."Well, won't you come in?" he said, stepping to the side and motioning with his hands towards the inside of his home.

Regardless of birthplaces, she stepped in, walking slowly by Autor. She wasn't particularly curious about the way he had the place arranged but she did wonder why there were no roommates around. For all her years, it still was easy for things to be nerve wracking to her. If Yue wasn't around, she could have lost her mind quickly but the boy didn't seem to care.
"No roommates, huh, boy? Or did you scare them off?"
no subject
Of course, he was starting to wonder if that was the best decision...he thought the ticking wouldn't bother him, but after a while...

Turning around, she pointed her umbrella at him.
"Where am I sitting?"
no subject
Autor pulled back slightly when she pointed the umbrella at him. It felt a little intimidating. Of course, that was probably the point...he straightened, doing his best to look confident. "I put the tea in the dining room. This way."
He motioned for her to follow him, then walked into the dining room and to the table, pulling out a chair for her to sit at.
no subject
She mentally sighed in disgust, reminding herself why she preferred to sit on the floor at lower tables.
no subject
"How do you like your tea?"
no subject
"I like it as is. I can enjoy the real taste of it that way."
no subject
He poured himself his own cup and sat down at the table, watching her closely as he took his first sip. Hopefully this would work. He wasn't sure if her threat to kill him if the tea was unsatisfactory was a joke or not.
no subject
"It's acceptable. You can ask what you want, boy."
no subject
He cleared his throat and sat straight, confidently smiling. "Well, first off...you're a vampire, aren't you?"
no subject
"I am a vampire. I've been one for over 500 years."
no subject
"500, eh? That would be why you treat me like a kid." He took a sip from his cup to give himself a moment to phrase his next question correctly. "So...what sort of powers do you have? If you feel comfortable telling me that."
no subject
"Powers? Boy, I'm the strongest mage in my world. No one can defeat me at my best."
no subject
"So you're a mage as well as a vampire, then? Fascinating! How does magic work in your world? Incantations? Do you have to inscribe something?"
no subject
"I am. Mages have a incantation that releases their magical power then they chant the spell in latin. Sounds pretty simple, right boy?"
no subject
no subject
"Anyone you say, boy? Maybe if you know the right person."
no subject
But he definitely needed to learn how to fight. If he had been with Rosette, he would've been useless. Just a liability. That was one thing Autor didn't want to be.
"So..." he said, leaning a bit back in his chair and trying to be casual. "Do I know the right person?"
no subject
"Yes and no. Yes, I can do it. But I won't. I can fight hand to hand just fine but a mage needs someone to cover her while she casts spells."
She gave him the once over with her eyes, almost tearing him apart.
"You look like you have no skill in that area. I'm not going to go out of my way to teach someone who has zero potential. Especially without compensation."
no subject
"Maybe not right now, but I can learn. I'm planning to learn it, actually. I don't see where you've gotten the idea that I have zero potential--I'm a fast learner and a hard worker. And I didn't say I'd make you do it for free, either."
no subject
"Do you think you're tough, boy? Walk over here and try to touch me. I won't even use any magic and limit myself to the strength and speed of a ten year old."
no subject
"...I think I could be tough, but I'm not now. I need to learn how to defend myself." Then, after considering it for a second, he added "I do know I'm intelligent enough not to accept the challenge of a vampire with five hundred years of experience."
no subject
"You do have some brains. How about a little test? If you pass it, I'll think about training you. But only for one type of payment."
no subject
"...Alright. I'll take your test."
no subject
"First comes first. Are you willing to put your life on the line? If you aren't, you aren't fit to become the apprentice of anyone."
no subject

She took a final sip of her tea.
"Come back to me when you've made your mind. My price, of course, will be blood."
no subject
no subject
"You idiot! I only do fingers!"
Regardless of her age, sometimes she did act like she was ten.

"You may regret learning from a dark mage. You might end up finding yourself walking the same path I am. Alone."
no subject
no subject
"Dark mages use negative feelings to power their spells. Is this something cliche in your human world?"
She shook her head.
"Regardless, there is no quick path to even mastering a simple spell of creating a light source. You'll have to dedicate all your spare time to practicing on your own. You may just want to speak with a friend of mine. She worked her way from the bottom up. She's still a beginner but it might be encouraging for your mortal ego."
no subject
He listened carefully, considering every word. Dedicate his spare time...well, that was fine. He couldn't continue his research on Drosselmeyer here...he might as well shift focus to other areas of magic, power he might actually be able to harness for himself. "I'm ready to work as hard as I have to. ...And I think I'd like you meet your friend, if I could."
no subject
Dropping to her feet, she pushed the chair back.
"Now then, you'll have to get back to me with your answer. Think it over carefully."
no subject
"I will. I should let you know soon."
no subject
"Now, if you'll show me off, I'll be out of your hair."
no subject
no subject
"You have unused potential, boy. Don't let it go to waste."
