Summary; Hinata's snowy training session gets interrupted by Neji
Log;

Hinata shivered slightly, rubbing her wool-enshrouded palms together in hopes that the friction from their contact might generate a small spark of warmth. Blowing a puff of heated air from her lungs onto the chilled flesh seemed to make things a little more comfortable, and she smiled slightly as she rocked back and forth on the balls of her feet. She took a deep breath of the chilled air before stretching her arms and making a series of hand-seals.
"Byakugan!"
Her pale eyes changed slightly, spidery veins appearing on either side of her face, stretching from the corners of her pearlescent orbs across her temples to vanish into her dark hair. Letting out her breath slowly, she moved her arms, dropping into the familiar Juuken stance she had learned since she was a child.

Neji wandered through the snow-covered streets, watching as people passed him, shivering within their deep coats. This weather was peculiar to Neji, who, just two days ago was outside on the balcony, in the sun and heat, practicing slight parts of his juuken. This place flucuated like colors across spilt oil, one day summery, one day wintry, one day raining with the force of a hurricane. He wondered if he would understand it more by being out in it, hence his traversing of the day. Ahead of him, trickling upon the cold winter air like a sliver of ice, was a word that was extremely familiar.

"Byakugan!"

Neji looked up, his feet stopping within the chilly white fluff underneath him with a crunch. His cousin was out within the snow, practicing her juuken it seemed. He folded his arms, deigning to observe for a moment.

Hinata hadn't noticed his approach, despite her usually well-honed "Neji-radar". Perhaps it was due to the intense focus that she was devoting to her motions, perhaps it was simple distration. Either way, the petite girl was completely absorbed in her training as she moved her arms carefully through the motions, gathering and directing chakra. Compared to Neji, her movements were a bit awkward, lacking the same easy grace that her cousin seemed to acheive so effortlessly. But still, she moved with a fluidity that seemed to almost make up for it.

Not good enough....I still can't get the strike quite right..

She frowned, narrowing her eyes in frustration as she paused, dropping arms by her sides and taking a deep breath before scowling and resuming her stance, changing the positioning of her arms and legs fractionally.

Neji felt himself grin, watching his cousin practice the familiar styles and stances that were the trademark of his family. She flittered about like a small bird trying to get the hang of its wings, after being thrown from the nest, trying its hardest to fly. He continued to watch her, as she slung her arms, with a dissonant grace, grasping for the secrets of the techniques. In a way, it was almost adorably admirable, her efforts, and her desperate struggle to fight against that which she could not win. She wanted to better herself, strengthen herself, though the goddess who governed all would not allow this. Fate had already dealt Hinata's hand, and becoming strong was not within the cards. Still, her heart, Neji had to admit, was something to respect.

The wind bit through his coat with silvery teeth, causing him to drag his arms around himself.

Closing her eyes for a moment, she took another deep breath, then with a yell, darted foreward, swinging her arms through the strikes, sparring with an invisible opponent. She stumbled slightly, clenching her fists.

"Dammit!"

Kicking her foot into the snow with a scowl, she pulled the zipper on her parka and shrugged it off her shoulders, tossing it aside to leave her clad only in a pair of dark blue jeans, calf-high brown leather boots, white wool mittens, and a pale blue cable-knit turtleneck sweater (that clung rather enticingly to her curves, though she wasn't really paying attention). Tilting her head back for a moment, she scraped dark indigo bangs out of her eyes. Ignoring the bitter wind, she shivered slightly before reforming her hand seals and dropping back into the familiar stance of the Juuken.

Neji's alabaster eyes widened, as he heard the unseemly utterance slip through his cousin's lips, as she shrugged away her outer garment. Hinata was a very demure girl, quiet and afraid to offend, so seeing her in this light was very out of character for her. The wind began to blow even stronger, the snow slashing against skin, eyes and hair like small blades. It was painful even to Neji, who was bundled up against all the elements had to give. In the back of his mind, a small voice echoed, wondering how his cousin could stand it. The stronger wills that controlled his consciousness answered swiftly, She probably can't. Shaking his head, his better judgment was again compromised as he walked up behind her, feet shattering the layers of frozen carpet with a soft sound, leaning and grasping her jacket, placing it around her shoulders once more. His breath became a gray whisp in the frigid air, as he began to speak, his voice muffled by the howling wind that permeated the city around them.

"It's not good to train in such conditions, Hinata-sama. You will get sick if you do not prepare well. Then it will all have been for naught."

Hinata jumped in surprise at the crunch of footsteps behind her, followed by the warmth of her jacket settling around her shoulders. When she heard Neji's voice, her pale eyes widened as a faint blush raced across her face. She swallowed hard, extremely conscious of the feel of his fingers gripping her shoulders in a gentle but firm manner.

"N..Neji..nii-san... W..what are you doing here?"

Now that her mind was no longer occupied by her training, she was indeed becoming conscious of the bitter cold. Shivering, she instinctivly huddled closer to him, her slight form unconsciously seeking out the warmth that his larger body offered.

Neji smiled a little, breath still visible in the blizzard-coated air, as he took her hand, beginning to lead her back.

"I came upon you as I was walking. These," he motioned around himself, "are not condusive conditions for training." He laughed a little, as he continued, "unless you are Lee, because he can take it." His mind echoed in concord, and he's also crazy, and foolish. But that's beside the point.. "But, it's not good for you. Not at all. When it's sunny," he took in a breath, closing his eyes, as his inner voice screamed against what he was about to say. "I'll help you train. We may need two Hyuuga to escape this city." As these words escaped him, he immediately found himself wondering why he was uttering them.

Her head turned so fast that her hair fanned out, eyes wide as her face turned an even brighter shade of red. He..he was offering to help her train? And...he was even holding her hand... She quickly averted her eyes towards the ground, biting her lower lip and nodding slightly.

"H..hai...thank you..Nejinii-san."

She didn't say anything else, simply enjoying the small pleasure of this miniscule amount of closeness as they walked hand in hand back towards the warm shelter of Tenten's apartment.
