Log; Ongoing
When; Tonight!
Rating; TBD
Characters; Harry Dresden, Carlos Ramirez, Molly Carpenter, Sarah Williams, Youko Nakajima, Thomas Raith, Justine, Karrin Murphy, Everyone Who Knows Harry!
Summary; Surprise birthday party for everyone's favorite wizard. It's a chance to show him how much you don't want to kill him!
Log;
With decorations set, food steaming and ready and the cake decorated with enough candles to set off any self respecting smoke detector, the party was ready to get underway. All they needed was the guest of honor. Molly thought they'd all done a great job of moving swiftly, stealthily and keeping a secret. In so far as she knew, Dresden suspected nothing at all.
She also hoped someone brought a camera to get photographic evidence of Harry in his Mickey Mouse costume, and that the camera didn't explode on coming into contact with wizard auras. Drinks were out and abundant and barring all else, she knew a few party games that could keep the evening going.

He pulled his Network Device out of the pocket of his costume, an actual fireman's uniform, and sent Harry a message.
You on your way to the fountain, yet?

His communication device buzzed and he glanced down at it and saw Carlos' message. He was almost there so he didn't bother responding. Instead he started loudly humming the "Sorcerer's Apprentice" as he marched along in the bright red bath robe he had one with his pointy, starred hat perched atop his head over the mouse ears he wore.
"Carlos!" he declared as he saw his friend by the fountain. "What have you been up to?"
no subject
"You know," he said through a genuine smile, "I've heard stories of the costume that started a war, but this one is even more awesome!"
"And I've probably been up to the same thing you have. Tricking...some treating. Smiling at some cute girls in skimpy costumes." He smirked knowingly up at his much taller friend. "Well, you probably skipped that last step."
no subject
He pointedly ignored the comment about the cute girls in skimpy costumes, mostly because he was worried that Carlos was referring to Molly, among others. Not a thought he wanted to entertain. Harry wasn't so sure that Carlos could handle Molly, she would eat him alive.
"So it looks like we dodged a bullet and no major curse catastrophes hit us."

He put both hands over his stomach and let out a small grown. "So hungry. What's say we head back to the apartment and grab some grub?"
no subject
"I could really go for a burger," Harry said. "A big, thick patty with tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. Do you think Murphy's mom will ever end up here? She makes fantastic burgers."
no subject
Carlos felt he was doing a pretty good job. "I mean, getting yanked around by a bunch of kids all night takes a lot out of a guy. Let's just go home and get something."
no subject
"Alright, but you owe me a burger," he said. "And I intend to collect it soon."

He gathered the small amount of will required to pull off his surprise effect as he opened the door.

When they made to enter the apartment Harry noticed Carlos drawing in his will just a bit. He wondered if it was some new sort of ward Carlos had placed. Whatever it was he wasn't too worried since if there was any danger Carlos would have warned him.

Candles on every table, shelf, and other display burst into life, as well as all the jack-o-lanterns, casting their sudden warmth on all the streamers and the huge banner announcing "Happy Birthday!"
Carlos, beaming all the while, turned to his friend. "Happy Birthday, Harry."

The food was all laid out, warm and steaming, and next to the rather large frosted cake covered in candy corn that spelled out HAPPY BIRTHDAY HARRY!.
no subject
"You better be surprised, Dresden," she added. "Otherwise somebody's got some explaining to do."
no subject
“How many years, Harry?” she asked grinning. “I wasn’t sure and nobody knows the reply.”
no subject
"Hey Harry."
no subject
"Happy Birthday, Harry."
