Open thread

When;Thursday, Nov 13 (early morning)
Rating; TBA shouldn't be over pg-13 though
Characters; Namine, Mikoto (whoever wants to be)
(ooc: Don't take it personally if I make this a closed thread after two or three people show up. Playing with 50 + characters would be a little uncomfortable; not to mention chaotic.^^;)
Summary; Namine is walking towards the Hall of the Missing to see if Kairi's portrait is really in there. She may also want to go job hunting soon after.
Log;

She was trying to focus single-mindedly on what she was doing - something Namine had down to an art form when something was bothering her. She was trying not to think of the hurtful words that Roxas had so casually tossed at her. It didn't seem like he was anything like Sora. Or, maybe he was and he was denying it. Either way...seeing someone like that wearing Sora's face was not something she was ready to confront. There was a chance to live her own life here. At least for a while. And without, if she could help it, painful experiences.

So she wouldn't think about it. Not now, anyway.

She needed to know if she had been told the truth. If Kairi were really here at one time, then there was the possibility of her return. She just hoped that meeting her Other wouldn't be as painful as the last person she had decided she wanted to know. But would it matter if she was only going to become this person anyway?

Makoto had been out in this strange new city for a whole fourteen minutes and wasn't lost (yet), at least not according to the map she consulted every half minute. It was a good start.

The morning had found her momentarily confused as she woke, then determinedly purposeful as she left the house for a walk, attempting to familiarize herself with her surroundings. The city was strange and new to her - an intriguing enemy at worst and an engaging challenge at best - and she walked slowly, her posture somewhat guarded, content to simply take in everything around her.

The figure she found herself about to cross paths with was not familiar to her - hardly a surprise, of course - and as they drew closer on the path Makoto offered the girl a curious glance and a polite smile.

Though she wasn't shy by nature, Makoto still had some prohibitions about simply approaching strangers on the street. That said, she was trying to get the lay of the city, and surely that included its residents too. Besides, the other girl seemed nice enough.

She smiled back brightly and hesitated only a moment before walking closer. "Good morning," she replied evenly. "You're out early. Or, rather, we are." This was said noncommittally - an offhand comment with the potential to be a conversation starter, or not - as she flashed her another grin.

[identity profile] herculeansenshi.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 12:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"Too?" she asked with a quizzical expression, before realising what the blonde meant and breaking into a wide grin. "Oh, you're new as well! I only got here a few days ago. I'm Kino Makoto."

She was more than happy to engage in conversation; if nothing else, being in somebody's company kept down the noise level of the ticking noise. The rest of what had been said took a moment to sink in, and when it did Makoto tilted her head with another curious expression. "Whose picture, and why?"

[identity profile] herculeansenshi.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
One of the things she'd learned about this city even in her short time here was that things could never be expected to be entirely normal. Even then, to recognise the possibility for deviation from what one expected was different from being entirely comfortable with it, and so Makoto had found herself surprised every time she heard about another element of this city's - or another world's - difference from her own.

Thus, she looked even more curious upon hearing Namine's response, processing the information for a second with a somewhat confused expression. "There's another you?" she asked.

[identity profile] herculeansenshi.livejournal.com 2008-11-15 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
The explanation didn't quite lead to a clear understanding on Makoto's part, but that - as she was beginning to learn with a lot of things here - was all right. After all, she wasn't entirely unfamiliar with things not strictly normal; she would surely understand better with time. "Where is this place?" she asked instead. "Why is it scary?"

Her gaze followed Naminé's to the town hall and she, too, examined it for a moment, before glancing back down to scrutinize her map once more. She frowned for a moment before finally breaking into a smile as she pinpointed their location.

"I'm just taking a look around and getting used to the landscape," she replied, gesturing vaguely at the environment around them. "I haven't seen the carousel yet, or this other place. Let's go together, if you want. Strength in numbers, right?"

The offer was made casually, with a cheerful grin, and her pace did not slow as she waited for a response.

[ ooc: Also, her name is Makoto. :) thanks! ]

She shot the blonde a curious glance upon the slight hesitation but didn't press the matter. As much as it would be nice, and as much as she always chose to believe the best of people until proven otherwise, Makoto knew better than to assume that trust would be automatically given all the time. "I've seen carousels at amusement parks," she replied contemplatively. "Not sure if it's the same sort of thing, though."

[ ooc: Hee! It's fine, we all do it. ]

[identity profile] herculeansenshi.livejournal.com 2008-11-16 08:35 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm not sure," she replied with another contemplative expression, consulting her map once more as they walked in the direction of the carousel. "I suppose we'll find out soon. I do hope there is an amusement park here!" There was joy in her voice as she said this; amusement parks evoked memories of long, lazy, summer days spent with friends and, in a much harder-to-reach corner of her mind, memories of a grinning set of parents as she sat between them on a ferris wheel and they pointed out the landmarks of the city.

[identity profile] herculeansenshi.livejournal.com 2008-11-16 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"Wait, you've never seen an amusement park before?" There was a hint of surprise in her voice, and Makoto staring at Naminé for another curious moment before turning from her towards the carousel looming in the distance. She contemplated it silently, her head cocked to the side. Definitely not like the ones from home, at least.

Makoto more or less gawked at the carousel as they walked past; the structure was magnificent even for the feeling of oddness it radiated. She gave the carousel a lingering glance before finally tearing her gaze back to her map.

"North..." she murmured contemplatively before breaking into a smile and turning towards what she hoped was the right direction from there. A pause, then, "There seems to be lots to discover in this city. I'm sure we'll get to have lots of fun finding them all." It was difficult to keep her inherent optimism out of her voice. It wasn't 'home', but that didn't make exploring this new city any less interesting.

[ ooc: I'm online from the time of this comment for the next five hours, and I will hooopefully be online tomorrow all day. What timezone are you in? ]

[identity profile] herculeansenshi.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Truth be told, she was getting fairly excited herself. Whatever Namine sought, it must be fairly important to send her out so early in the morning. Besides, navigating to this new place and exploring it would be fun.

She waited as the blonde caught up, then continued forward again at her usual pace. "Are amusement parks not common where you're from, then?" she asked quietly, almost as an afterthought, as she remembered some of their earlier conversation about the carousel.

[ ooc: online now for hopefully at least the majority of the day. <3 Hope you're around too! I'm bad with timezones. ]

She didn't push the question; her attention was grabbed by the building that loomed over them. Makoto bit back the urge to ask if Namine was sure she wanted to go in by herself. She knew (too well, at times) that there were some things that had to be done alone. Still.

"If you're not back soon I'll come looking for you," she said - a reassurance given with a soft smile. With that, she leaned back against a tree to wait.

Makoto smiled in relief as Namine emerged and walked up to join her. She was hesitant as she greeted the other girl again, both curious as to what she'd seen inside and concerned about the effect whatever it was may have had on the girl.

"Are you all right?" she asked quietly as she approached.

She smiled widely, glad that Naminé seemed to be all right. "The other you?" she asked, cocking her head to the side as she contemplated the possibility. "Must feel odd to have another one of yourself running around, though."
