(no subject)

When; Thursday Night, the 20th.
Rating; None
Characters; Reno [livejournal.com profile] elevatorwarrior and Cloud [livejournal.com profile] cloudsinstrife
Summary; The two guys decided they needed a drink to get their mind off certain things, and was over due for a get together anyway.
Log;

Even a turk made mistakes, and Reno was really kicking himself tonight for it. The place he wound up in was perfect for his mood. Not one of the popular ones, sleazy, and just enough of a hole in a wall that unless they knew where to look, they wouldn't find him. It suited his mood tonight, after his argument with Cissnei.

Why couldn't a girl be flattered instead of ticked off when a guy says that he wants to be with her, anyway? However crude it's said, it's meant to be flattering!!

He meant to get good and drunk tonight, already downing his beer like it would go out of style.

He'd went and blabbered a lot of stuff over the years, but the whole sleeping naked was a new one even for Cloud. As soon as he could wiggle away from the rest of the gang, he did so, headed for the bars and one in particular. He and Reno had been drinking together off and on for a while now, so it didn't feel weird to him. He wasn't sure what the Turk felt, but they had years between them still.

Cloud ordered a bar at the bar, grabbing the one offered to him and worked his way over to Reno's beat-up table. He flopped into a chair and took a hard swallow of his booze, making a face.

"Shit."

"Sorry about that," Cloud replied because well, it was sort of his fault. He had gone and started teasing Reno about the whole pants thing and look where it led to. He tried to apologize to her, but he doubt it would help. He should have known better, after all.

He finished the bottle and maybe it was him or maybe he was fixated on something else, but he didn't have the usual queasiness most alcohol gave him. Maybe shitty beer was better for him or something.

"I outted myself as a nudist to the whole Network."

"Hardly."

He made a face and rubbed his forehead, Mako blue eyes half lidded as he looked down at the table. Well, it wasn't the first time that he said something completely over the line with his friends, but usually he didn't post it up where anyone could see it.

"Whacked out? I wouldn't call it that."

He wasn't sure what Reno was trying to get at; maybe there were a few things that he did hat looked odd to anyone that didn't know him. Then again, how would a city kid know what a country bumpkin like him thought or didn't think? Maybe Cloud was thinking too much - he always did that.

"I also had a serious case of deja vu and thought I was my best friend."

"Gee, thanks. I thought I had escaped the wingnut zone years ago."

Cloud waved down the waitress for a refill and shrugged, settling back in his cahir and looking at Reno. The blond was a little tired, a little flushed and he really felt like every blond spike was drooping from his own emotions.

"Dull? You miss me that much?"

"Sorry I forgot to invite you along to the new building," Cloud replied, running his hand through his hair. He raised an eyebrow at Reno's words and chuckled softly. "Yeah, well, that is the problem isn't it?"

Cloud laughed. He knew what Zack was like, and he could agree with the Turk about how it would drive a person insane but, he enjoyed it. Zack was alive here, living and reacting like a real person instead of a memory inside the Lifestream. Cloud actually liked that, no matter how much he needed to be back home.

"I know," Cloud said, his smile fading a little. "I live with Tifa, you know."

"You should have told her right off the bat," Cloud replied. "I know that you liked her for a while before things got like this."

It was ironic that Reno talked to him. Cloud was the enemy all those years ago, and even if AVALANCHE and the Turks were getting along now, it didn't mean that Reno and him started out able to do this. It did take a huge fist fight to get them to even drink together.

"Don't worry. I do talk to her."

Cloud stared for a moment and slowly shook his head. He didn't think Reno understood what he was trying to say and Cloud wasn't going to explain it more. He knew that Reno was hurting so he finished off his beer and ordered something stronger. For both of them.

"I don't bang my chest."

[identity profile] cloudsinstrife.livejournal.com 2008-11-23 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
"Angeal... Him I can see doing that. He's got the chest for it."

Nodding at his own observation, Cloud took a sip of the fresh stuff and coughed once. It burnt and he wasn't sure if his stomach could handle it but since Reno was okay with it, so was he.

"Beer milkshakes?"

[identity profile] cloudsinstrife.livejournal.com 2008-11-24 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
"But milk doesn't stay that cold," Cloud replied, tipping his head back to take another swallow of the new stuff. The first sip was the worse one and his stomach wasn't protesting at all. Maybe it was the cheap stuff that doesn't affect him.

"You should make a beer slushy instead."
