Log;

"Don't worry, Lucy -sweet girl- , Captain Jack would never let harm come to you. Surely you trust in that, eh?"
He cupped his dirty hand to the side of that cherubic face and watched her bright smile answer far better than a dozen excited little 'yes's could ever do. Jack tool the child by her small hand and led her out on deck. The white, delicate, christening gown she wore seemed to glide, unsullied, across the filthy deck boards as she walked. His hand came to rest on her shoulder and stop her as they reached center of the deck.

"I've something to show you, Lucy. You'll truly like this, I think. You do wish to be a brave girl and help your dear Captain, do you not?"
Another easy agreement. Her small hands tugged at his shirt and bade him, come down to her level. Jack lowered himself to find her small arms around his neck and soft kisses left on his cheek. "Thank you, papa." She said, though he could not begin to understand why. What was there to thank him for? And was she already so quick to think of him as her father? Jack smiled down at her all the same as he stood to full height again.

"That's a good girl, Luce."
So trusting..

The call of the kraken rocked the ship and the beast's huge and terrible tentacles were up from the waves and crashing to the deck fast. Jack pushed the girl forward, and -though weeping- she went; giving herself up to its hunger. It grabbed her and took her and then it was appeased.

The pirate stood, blank and lost for a moment; unsure of what he had done or why. Then a hand (his hand) was on his shoulder, and a voice (his voice) was at his ear.
"Well done, Jack. Better her than you! You can't live a life of complete freedom without the occasional casualty. When that...thing..comes back, we'll just feed it good ol' mommy and you'll be fine! How hard is it to find an innocent here and there? Someone too good to survive? The world needs balance, Jack."

Sands pat Jack on the shoulder and the pirate turned to him, smiling.
"Right, mate. Whotever keeps me alive..."

"And gets you your big, pretty boat. Right?"

The CIA agent smiled back in that beautiful, cruel way they both can manage. He was wearing a soft, black blindfold and his shirt was just a little unbuttoned. He moved closer to Jack, putting a soft hand to the pirate's face in the same way Jack had done o Lucy.
"You know I'm right. This is for the best and then you'll have the Pearl and we'll all go home. ... I might even miss you, prick."

Another grin and Sands was pressing his lips to Jack's. It was sweet, and warm and Jack's fingers moved up to tangle in Sands hair, as his twin moved matching hands over his back and they stumbled across the deck. Jack's back hit hard against the mast and he tugged at Sands' hair in retaliation. It was an equal battle to match pleasure for pleasure and pain for pain for a good long while. Until, in their clawing, the blindfold fell from Sands' eyes. Jack thought to apologize, but found himself staring into brown eyes the same deep shade as his watching him over Sheldon's wicked grin.

"Got these from the detective. Aren't they nice? Too bad they don't seem to last..."

Though he tried to reach for a weapon, Jack found himself chained securely to the mast as Sands laughed.

"Don't take it wrong Jack, but we have to go for what we want, right? Better you than me..."

The knife the agent drew from his belt was so strange, but Jack had little time to contemplate the thing before it was being buried in his eyesocket.

♠-------------------------------------------------------------♠

When the pain of the dream becomes to real, Jack wakes up. He's sweating, though he won't move farther from the warm body next to his. Tia is his tether to reality for now. He lies still, breathing heavily; mind racing.

~*Oh God...Oh God... That didn't happen. No...of course not... it WON'T happen. I...I'm not.. I can't be. Not like that. No well I never was. Just a dream. All it is. Nothing to worry for... But.. Sands. Sands... Bastard, awful brilliant mad bastard. Beautiful? Could have been. Used to be. Won't be tricked. Mimic. Copy Twin. Nothing nothing. Simple line. Just something to watch and be wary. Warning is fare and I'm better for it. So why why why am I scared? Scared? Yes. Plenty reason. Good, sound, solid reason. The girl's mother. Sands. Jones. The devil. DEATH. Snap out of it, Sparrow, this display is pathetic. No use in starting at dreams, of all things. Clearly, you know your surrounding dangers. Better than you can often be credited with, now isn't it? I know a great many things. Like the the depth and quality of your mother, you swine. Not here. Shite. Just me. Just thought. Been long enough since that? Christ... calm calm calm... Nothing nothing. Listen, Jack, just sodding LISTEN...*~

He concentrates on the waves, his breath, Tia's breath and silences his mind for a moment. Maybe he'll even be able to fall back to sleep.
