Summary; Two buddies go out to buy some Christmas gifts.

Misao sprinted to the City Square where she and Jun decided to meet, skidding to a stop when she saw the towering Christmas tree stretching upwards, sparkling with tinsel and ornaments in the morning sun.

"Wooooow!" she gasped, looking up at it with delight.

The City was certainly a different place, where people were dressed differently, and everyone had different nationalities and holidays . . . but that wasn't a bad thing. Misao was used to travelling around, and she liked seeing new sights . . . especially if she got to meet some nice people along the way.

"Juuuuun!" she crowed, looking around, spying for him in the crowd. "Are you here yet?!"

Jun was mesmerized by the tree as well. He had been a little worried Christmas wouldn't be fun in the City, but so far everything had turned out fine. He blinked, hearing Misao's voice and began looking around for her.

"Misao-chan?!" He jumped up, trying to look over the crowd, waving his hand around frantically, hoping she'd spot him.

Misao's keen hearing discerned Jun's voice in the crowd, and rising on tiptoes, she spotted him, waving energetically before dashing to where he was. She was quick on her feet, and was there in a split second.

"Juuuun!" she crowed again, giving him a big grin. "Here I am!"

She had quite a list of people already to give Christmas presents to, and plus, she had to get Himura and Kaoru-san some wedding gifts! Maybe a new pot, since she dented his last one . . .

"Hey!" He grinned back, "You sure are quick." And short, now that he noticed. Not that it really mattered.

Jun had a rather large list as well. He was excited, seeing as before he came to the City, he didn't have a whole lot of friends.

"Where to first?"

She looked up at him. She just about came up to his chin. Well, she was used to everyone else being taller than her.

"I wanna get some food first! Gotta have something in your stomach before you go buyin' stuff!" she said cheerfully after patting her pocket to feel the coins inside. Being a cook at Seventh Heaven paid her well, and she received a good salary that allowed her to buy what she wanted. At least she wasn't robbing people anymore . . . she knew Himura would be bugging her again if she tried.

"Sounds good to me!" Jun glanced around, "Sure are a lot of places to eat though. What'cha in the mood for?"

"Umm . . ." Misao put a finger to her chin as she thought. "Somethin' . . . sweet? I dunno. What do you wanna eat?"

She always had doughnuts, so maybe it was time for a break from those . . .

"Hmmm.. Maybe we can hit up a deli? This way you can get something sweet and I'll get a sandwich or something."

"'kay!"

Misao bounced on her heels, looking cheerful once more.

"Lead the way!"

Jun smiled and headed over to one of the less busy cafes. As soon as they walked inside, he raised his head up and sniffed the air, practically drooling at the wonderful smell of food.

"Mm.. Reminds me of Kuromi's cooking.."

Misao's mouth also watered at the smell of the delicious food. She was a good cook herself, having helped out in the Aoiya as she grew up, and she knew how to appreciate good cooking.

"Yeah, your friend who went home, huh?"

Misao patted Jun on the back.

"You're gonna see her again, since you come from the same home, right?"

He had felt a little melancholy when he thought of Kuromi. At the back on his bak though, he couldn't help but smile a little, "Yeah. Hopefully. I dunno what'll happen since I'm pretty sure she and My Melo are done competing.."

"Competing over what?"

Misao was looking at all the food in the glass display, her emerald eyes wide. Finally, she found a slice of carrot cake and gestured to it, along with a bagel and cream cheese, chirping happily at the waitress for her order.

"To be the next princess of Mariland. It kinda fell through." Jun picked out a rather large Ham and BLT sandwich. "Plus this evil being's finally gone, so we don't have to worry about him anymore."

"She was gonna be a princess? Cool." Misao glanced at him with her expressive green eyes before tossing a few coins to the counter, finding herself a booth and plopping down with her tray.

"And it's always great when the world's at peace, huh? We just beat the enemy too where I came from. Himura, Kaoru-san, Megumi-san, Yahiko, and the roosterhead just went back to Tokyo, 'cause they had to go to Kyoto to beat the enemy. But then, funny seeing them here. Not that I'm complaining!"

Jun paid for his food as well and joined her at the booth, sitting down across from her.

"Yeah, but I'll sure miss those odd adventures. Those two always know how to many our world interesting."

"You never run out of adventures!"

Misao gave him a thumbs up before clapping her fingers together and singing "Itakadimasu!"

Ravenously, she bit into her bagel, letting out a "mmmmm!" of relish. There was a smudge of cream cheese on her cheek, but she didn't mind, looking happy and childlike as she chewed away.

"Why don't you like . . . travel an' stuff?" A swallow, and another bite of bagel, more cheese smearing at her lips, making her look like a kid.

Jun didn't care. He was equally as messy as he bit into his sandwich, some of the mayo leaking out. He shoved the food into his cheek, chewing a bit as he spoke, "I do, but it's not as fun as when I'm with Uta-chan and the gang."

"Then why don't you travel with them when you see them again?"

She licked the cream cheese away and swiped it off with her fingers, sucking them clean before beginning on her cake.

"Some of my best adventures were with Himura and Kaoru-san and Yahiko and Sano! Megumi-san never traveled much 'cause she was always workin', but I bet she's happy and settled where she is now 'cause she's with her husband."

She forked a bite of cake and bit into it with obvious delight.

"I dunno if they'd want to. They've got school and everything, just like I do. But.. maybe I could pester them during break.." He chewed for a bit then swallowed, eating a bit more of his sandwich before he continued talking.

"I wonder if Megumi-okasan and Mitsuhide-san are in the same world?"

"Yeah, they are, Himura told me!" She grinned. "True love's always gonna win, right?"

She beamed at him, still smudged and messy with icing, before diving back into her cake.

"I wouldn't really know, but I guess? I'm glad though. And I got to see her a bit during that one curse day!"

Misao nodded. "Mmm!" Her mouth was full, and finally, she finished her food, downing a glass of water with a satisfied sigh. Wiping her face clean, she settled back into her chair with a huff, crossing her legs underneath her.

"Food here's a lot different from the stuff back home."

"Really? How?"

The food was the same for Jun. And he happily scarfed down the rest of his sandwich, then chugged down the bottle of cola.

"Uh . . . we got the Japanese food? Tempura, sushi, sashimi, teppanyaki, stuff like that?" Misao shrugged. "Here there're lotsa different cakes and dishes an' stuff. And chocolate. Chocolate's rare where I came from, and here, you can get it everywhere!"

She looked positively thrilled.

"Oh. OHH. I forgot you guys are like.. way behind us time wise." He rubbed the back of his head, "We've got those too, but American type food is popular too."
