Thomas started at the shout. The arcade was quiet, which was a little weird for a Saturday, but that just meant he didn't have to wait in line at any of his favorite machines. When he looked toward the source of the noise, he was surprised to see it belonged to one of the hottest girls he'd ever lain eyes on.

Yeah, see, girls like that were never interested in guys like him. He just turned back to his game of Mortal Kombat and pretended not to notice. Usually when girls like that noticed that guys like him had taken an interest in them, they teased mercilessly.
