He didn't think he could stand up to Akito. Their God held a strange hold over each of the members of the Jyuunishi. The bond between them and Akito was paralyzing in execution, rendering them nearly defenseless in defying him. Though he wasn't considered a part of the zodiac, Kyou still found himself affected by these bonds due to his part in the curse.

Hearing Akito request Tohru's presence had sent the neko into a panic. Kyou knew what their God was capable of inflicting on those he felt had wronged him. Kyou was the outcast, someone that God didn't want within his small circle and refused to allow entry. He'd been rejected and looked down upon by others his whole life.

Except her.

He'd failed in protecting her mother and she'd still appeared in his life, reminding him of the wrongs he'd made and the debt he owed that he couldn't ever repay. He swore to himself that he'd not let anything happen to her, somehow he'd protect her.

Akito wanted to punish Tohru for something she'd done under a curse. It hadn't been anything wrong and was something that should have remained private and between just the two of them. It didn't involve him at all, it shouldn't matter to Akito anyway. Akito hated him. Why should he care what about what Tohru and him had done?

Still...Kyou wasn't sure he could stand up to Akito, even if it meant to protect Tohru. Making his way from his bedroom to open the front door of the apartment he shared with Shigure and Akito, he leaned against the doorframe and waited.

Standing up to Akito might not be easy for him, but standing up to Tohru...
