Summary; In which Ino throws a party to celebrate Sakura's 18th birthday and newfound legalness. God help up all.

As best friend forever of the birthday girl, Ino felt it absolutely vital to throw the best damn party Sakura had ever seen--not a major feat, since Sakura also went by Killjoy McSpoilsport, but it was the thought that counted. Sakura would get the big party she denied wanting but everyone knew she wanted anyway, and Ino would get the chance to force everyone together, mix liberally with alcohol, and take pictures.

So after many hours organizing, buying things, assisting with presents (that means you, Naruto and Obito), and bullying Shikamaru into decorating and footing the tab, everything was ready for the ninja to let loose--or just jiggle around the sticks up their asses. There was a cake--chocolate, of course--a whole lineup of food, drinks of both the alcoholic and nonalcoholic persuasion, and buttloads of decorations, all in varying shades of pink. Everywhere. With some purple thrown in for good measure, because the best friend forever of the birthday girl said so.

Ino had instructed her guests to arrive at 8pm sharp, with a leeway of about half an hour before she personally hunted them down like animals, and as the clock ticked down to lift off, she smiled. This was going to be interesting.

"Heh, the birthday girl is giving me a present." He gave her another thumbs up before continuing, "I promise I'll treat you better than anyone ever could!"

A certain Uchiha had his eye on a certain table because of all the- food. Yeah food. Plus trying to ninja over in a non-suspicious manner distracted him from the pink, being still at the age where he would wrinkle his nose at the girly colour. Not that he would ever grow out of it.

(And marvel at the occasion, Sakura, because he's wearing a shirt for your party.)

In the first impulse of tenderness towards him since...a long time ago, she supposed--Sakura raised one hand to cup his cheek. "I doubt anyone could treat me better than you, Naruto," she said.

You are not a very good ninja for a while later there comes Sakura, sneaking up behind Obito. She sneaks, and sneaks, and glomps him like only an older sister could. "How's my cute Uchiha?"

Of course, he couldn't help the reddening of his cheeks at her touch or the reaching up and resting of his hand on her wrist. "You betcha, Sakura-chan..." he beamed, ecstatic at the small display of affection from the only person he wanted it from.

"If I were one to bet, then yes," she said, smirking up at him. "But if I'm like shishou in that aspect, too, I would lose."

Still grinning like an idiot, he dropped his hand and rocked back and forth on his heels. "I don't think anyone has her luck."

She dropped her hand to her side as well. Let's not get frisky before the first date, mmhmm. "Probably not, no," she said, thinking about Tsunade's own bad luck in love. Jiraiya had slipped right through her fingers... I won't be like that, she thought, looking at Naruto pensively. Definitely not like her there.

"Okay, I'm hungry," she quipped, eager for a change of subject. "Please tell me she included snacks or I'm raiding her kitchen."

"'M not cute, Sakura, I'm cool!" But he's grinning and handing a small, Ino-approved box (http://tarrarosenbaum.com/store/images/scw806b.jpg) back over his shoulder to her.

"Ino-chan said you wouldn't appreciate a cake made of ramen." And he is bemused by that.

"Oh, yeah. There's pretty much everything except ramen, but I guess ramen isn't really a snack." He frowned as he looked towards the food table. "Still, it would've been nice to have some ramen. Let's check it out, yeah?"

"I know, right?"

Ino proudly surveyed all her handiwork, arms crossed in front of her, not surprised in the least by Sakura sneaking in to her own party. It was just a Sakura thing to do, wasn't it? Make as little a scene as possible, though Ino personally thought she should be milking it for all it was worth. At least, that was what Ino would be doing when her birthday rolled around in six months.

"I'm kind of amazing," she chirped, finally turning to Sakura and flicking the end of her ponytail over her shoulder, before adding, "I mean, not as amazing as you. On your birthday."

Well, Ino supposed it would be inevitable that Obito would try to hit up the booze at some point. In spite of everything, she wasn't stupid, and she was definitely smarter than Obito anyway--plus, he was a terrible liar. Not to mention terrible at being sneaky.

"Well, well, Obito-kun," she chirped from behind him, hopefully taking him by surprise as per her Evil Plan. "What are you up to, hm?"

"You seriously need to expand your boundaries when it comes to food, Naruto. One can't live only on noodles."

"Thank you...for this," Sakura said, giving the other girl a hug. "You know this makes me older than you."

"Cool and cute," she jokes, patting his head. She takes the box, and grins at him. "No, give that to Naruto when his birthday comes around."

"What kind of best friend forever would I be if I didn't?" she replied coolly, but her smile was more fond than her tone implied. Ino happily returned the hug, squeezing Sakura tightly for a few moments before releasing her. "And I know this makes you an old lady now, but don't worry. Us young people will still be around to liven things up."

"Haha, funny," she dryly replied. "But no, I meant that this means that now I have the authority around here."

"Excuse me?" Her expression and tone were many, many shades of skeptical. "What makes you think age gives you the high horse?"

"Experience and wisdom, obviously. I have more of it than you."

"You'll have to help me with that," he commented with a smile. "You know, on our date and all."

Seizing the oportunity when she saw one, Sakura looked at him with a grin. "Does that mean you'll listen when I tell you to eat fruit?"

Yech. Fruit? Why not meat or sweets or something? Well, anything for his Sakura-chan. "Umm, I guess. As long as it's good fruit," he said with more than a little disdain for the offending food.

"Pft, don't even, Forehead," she scoffed, then fixed Sakura with a wry look. "At least now you might actually be old enough for your panties."

"Speaking of panties, Ino. What did you do with my underwear?"

"All fruit is good fruit. How about strawberries?"
