log; ongoing

When; Friday evening, April 3rd.
Rating; PG.
Characters; Sheryl Nome ([livejournal.com profile] hopedanddreamed) and anyone and everyone else who wants to join in.
Summary; The first official concert of Sheryl Nome in the City comes to a beach near you.
Log;

Ever since the high school curse laid waste to the City's usual routine, something odd has been happening out on the beach. Along one of its most pleasant stretches, just out of reach of the highest tide, a once-simple stage has been rising, growing more adorned and eye-catching by the day. By this point, the whole thing is ablaze with flowers, some small and sedate, others huge, tropical, and brilliant. Leis stretch in strands across the stage. Elaborate sandcastles rise to its sides. All in all, it is a calculated spectacle pulled together with everything available to your average City-dweller who just happens to have not-so-average experience with show business. The actual acoustics? A couple of microphones hooked up to carefully positioned but otherwise unremarkable speakers.

Behind the stage, a ramp of sand leads down into a grove of trees cordoned off with curtains--the closest thing this makeshift concert hall has to a backstage. Hidden from view, Sheryl finishes lacing up her sparkly and alarmingly skimpy sundress, takes a steadying breath, and wipes all uncertainty from her face.

She emerges onto the stage, microphone in hand, already smiling and waving to whoever's assembled just as if they were the legions of adoring fans she's used to from home. "Are you ready, my newest fans? Listen to my song!"

Inversely proportional to gravity,
The glow on the fins is like a volcano.
Do you know?
My heart is beating.
If you slip and fall off the galaxy of fantasies,
What lies below is a poison sea.
Cross countless light years, with a daring kiss.
I'm hungry,
Let's head for the next stage!

More songs!

What 'bout my star?
What 'bout my star?
What 'bout my star?

Baby, where is it you want to go?
I grip the steering wheel, already on standby.
Want my heart and want my love?
No, then swing and kiss.

More songs! And last--

When I was still in love with God,
I never thought we'd part like this.
If I had known I could never feel your touch again,
I would have hoped to be embraced just one last time.

It's a long, long goodbye...

As that song ends, the strands of flowers slowly sink to the stage, and Sheryl is backstage again before the last one has hit the floor.

[OOC: I will be setting up specific threads for pre- and post-show drama, for anyone who wants to happen by on those. Otherwise, respond as you see fit! Bring a friend and make your own threads, or make an open thread and meet someone new. Up to you. ♥]
