Summary; Harry and Thomas decided it was time to go stir up some trouble in the Underground...

Log; Thomas shoved the Kukri into the sheathe at his left hip and picked up the sawed-off shotgun from the coffee table, checking the chamber, then putting it back down. Harry should be there any minute, and he had to admit, he'd been getting anxious. It wasn't like he'd been back here all that long or anything...but then again, he'd been gone for a season, as far as Chicago had been concerned. The time paradox it created in his head was odd. Being back here, he could remember, two weeks ago, talking to Harry, but thinking about what had happened back home during his short return, he hadn't spoken to Harry in two weeks.

He shook his head and checked his weapons one more time. You could never be too careful.

Harry was there not long after. Normally Harry didn't go looking for trouble, he rarely needed to. Trouble usually found him like he was in the phone book. Okay, technically, he was in the phone book but that wasn't the point. He rarely got to hone his skills against monsters just for the sake of practice, but the Underground provided a place to do just that.

Knocking on Thomas's door Harry leaned against the post and waited for his older brother to open up so they could be on their way.

Thomas grabbed the shotgun from the table and his leather jacket from the coat rack by the door as he opened it and gave his brother a smirk as he stepped out on to the stoop, holding out a fist to rap knuckles.

"Ready to roll, little brother?" he asked, as he shrugged smoothly into his jacket.

Harry bumped fists right back and nodded. Glancing over at Thomas he reasoned that if anyone in the Underground messed with them it was their own fault, as they looked like relatively bad news. Thomas was very pretty bad news, but bad news none the less.

"Let's do this," he said with a nod. "Any particular place you want to go?"

Thomas chuckled and straightened his jacket into place. "I figure this isn't going to be like a dungeon crawl in Arcanos, Harry." He smoothed his hands over his hair pulling it back into a tail and securing it with a tie from around his wrist. "The nasties aren't just going to be waiting for us to show up."

He turned toward the stairs and started down, knowing his brother had an aversion to elevators and really not looking forward to being stuck in one. Sometimes living with Harry Dresden...ah well. "I've never been there," he continued. "Where's a good place?"

"And they don't have any treasure," Harry said. Which is unfortunate, because it would be a great way to subsidize your income; just head down into the Underground and kill a few monsters.

"I'll take you," he added as they headed down the stairs and towards the entrance to the Underground. "You have to get down a ways to get to the more mindless monsters."

"Oh, so the upper levels net you monsters with brains," Thomas asked, leaving out the end of like me? He knew it was pointless to throw out random comments like that, no matter how true he thought them to be. Harry would stop the trip right then and there and make him have a heart to heart, when Thomas really just wanted to blow off some steam.

It would take a toll on him, he knew, at business hadn't exactly been booming lately, but he'd managed before, and he'd do it again. It meant spending some quality time with his brother, and that was worth just about anything...even blowing hard earned energy.

Harry wasn't going to touch that because he knew exactly where it would lead to and they'd had that conversation a thousand times before and they just went around and around.

"We'll just take it as it comes," he told his brother. And by that he meant that they'd be handling the easier monsters, the ones that Thomas wouldn't have to expend too much energy.

Thomas nodded and adjusted his jacket so his trigger arm could swing easier. He hoped for a good fight, and liked the idea that none of the things down there had any personal vendettas against either himself or Harry. It was a nice change.

He stayed a step or two behind Harry, once the exited onto a landing, both to watch their backsides and to let the wizard throw up a shield for the both of them, should the need arise.

"So, now what?" he said, quietly.

"Now we head down deeper and sees what tries to kill us," Harry said with a bit of a shrug. Fortunately it wasn't rocket science to try and get eaten. He shook his shield bracelet loose and slowed down his steps as he readied his blasting rod.

"And these things are smart," he cautioned. "Hunt in packs and use ambushes and distractions sometimes."

Thomas nodded and followed suit. "Well," he said, "I can't say we'd ever go looking for trouble back home."

He pulled the kukri from its sheathe and drew a little on the Hunger for better eyesight and hearing. It never hurt to be prepared.

"We were too busy being a lightning rod for trouble to bother looking for it," Harry said as they descended deeper into the Underground.

"These things are sensitive to light since they live so much in the dark," he added, reaching into his coat and pulling out a carefully folded handkerchief and handed it to Thomas. "If you need to stun them use this. There's sunlight in there."

"Sunlight," Thomas said, fingering the handkerchief doubtfully. "There's sunlight in here."

"What can I say? I've got sunshine in my pocket," Harry said with a shrug.

Thomas smirked. "You sure you're not just happy to see me?"

Harry just shook his head and let that one go.

"Alright, we should be hearing some fairly soon," he said. "Or, you should be."
